ICE Forcibly Drugs Immigration Detainees Against their Will

Some shocking, shocking news has come to light.

ICE is forcibly drugging Immigration detainees against their will. According to CNN.com:

Dr. Paul Appelbaum, a professor of psychiatry, law and ethics at Columbia University, reviewed both men's medical records for this report and was stunned by what he discovered.

"I'm really shocked to find out that the government has been using physicians and using potent medications in this way," said Appelbaum, who also serves as a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

"That is the sort of thing that would be subject to a malpractice claim in the civilian world."
The allegations of ICE forcibly drugging deportees were raised last month by Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, during the re-nomination hearing of ICE chief Julie Myers.

"The information the committee has received from ICE regarding the forced drugging of immigration detainees is extremely troubling, particularly since it appears ICE may have violated its own detention standards," Lieberman spokeswoman Leslie Phillips told CNN in an e-mail.

Responding to Lieberman's written questions, Myers said 1,073 immigration detainees had "medical escorts" for deportation since 2003.

Both Soeoth and Diouf say they had not exhibited any combative behavior. Soeoth, a Christian minister from Indonesia, spent 27 months in detention awaiting deportation after his bid for political asylum was rejected. Hours before he was to be sent back home on December 7, 2004, he says guards injected him with a mystery drug that made him groggy for two days. See the document that shows Soeoth was injected

"They pushed me on the bench, they opened my pants, and they just give me injection," he said through broken English.

He says he was taken to Los Angeles International Airport while in this drug-induced stupor, but two hours before takeoff, airline security refused to transport him, so ICE agents returned him to his cell at Terminal Island near Los Angeles. Terminal Island, once a federal prison, is a crowded facility along the ocean where hundreds of illegal immigrants await deportation.

Soeoth's medical records indicate he was injected with Cogentin and Haldol, even though those same records show he has no history of mental illness. In the records, the government says he was injected with the drug after he said he would kill himself if deported -- a remark Soeoth denies ever making.

  1. According to the soeoth med record, @ 20:50 hours, 7 Dec 2004, deportation was canceled due to lack of proper notification from ICE DRO. @18:00 hours that same day, pateint was given 4 mg. Cogentin and 5 mg. of Haldol due to his own words @ 09:15 7 Dec 2007 "he will kill himself if deported". Also @18:00 hours, he claimed "he was not ready to go".

    Both drugs are for treating nervousness and anxiety.

  2. He says he did not say this. So do many of the others drugged against their will. Hence the reason for the lawsuit.

  3. Joe Lieberman brought this up during the renomination hearing of ICE chief Julie Myers. Sen. Leiberman said these reports are extremely troubling.

  4. Dee, well what do you expect someone to say that said they would kill themself if they get deported? We aren't dealing with a sane mind here. As far as the others go, if could have been the same circumstances, treaty nervousness or anxiety and they are tying to make a case for themself to gain money through a lawsuit or avoid deportation. My how gullible some people can be or they have an agenda in always believing the illegal rather than our law enforcement. In your case I would say you believe it because you are pro-illegal no matter what. Hutto was another example of your blind belief in what the illegals said rather than law enforcement.

  5. LOL Pat, You remind me of one of the 60´s movies.

    Of course the powers that be are lying. Of course they are being drugged.

    It will all be fleshed out soon. It is all documented.

  6. How can you say they are lying BEFORE the truth is flushed out? You can't make a statement like, "of course the powers that be are lying". Who are you, God with inside knowledge? You make yourself look foolish by calling someone guilty without proof, only your biased opinion.

  7. Pat, Pat, Pat,
    I am looking at Senate testimony. These are the questions being asked. Obviously there are issues.

  9. I wonder how you would feel being on an airplane with several or even one unrestrained and unrepentant illegal alien under a removal order. What would be going through your head and what would be going through his head? Could be rather scary.

  10. Ulty,
    The problem with your argument is you are attempting to make the 12M the bogeymen and all Hispanics. They are not. That is clear.

    If you make your argument, you have to include BTK, Bundy, Gacy and every terrorist, not just Hispanics. Shame on you for trying to make this about one group. There are bad guys in every group, even yours.

  11. I don't get that feeling about Ultima at all and nothing in what he has said indicates that he thinks that illegal aliens are our entire country's woes. But they are a big part of it and we should elimate all the woes we can. I certainly haven't read in his posts anywhere that he is against Hispanics in general, only those here legally. We read the same posts you do dee and what you are saying isn't true.

    Of course there are bad people in every race. There are also bad citizens of every race. Those you mentioned have been dealt with and imprisoned for their crimes. They can't be deported as they are citizens. How are the 12 million illegals being punished for crossing our borders illegally? Most are still here roaming our streets freely. You don't make a very good case for your cause.

  12. Sorry, a typo. I meant to say that Ultima doesn't appear to be against Hispanics in general, only those here illegally. Of course that would include all other illegals too.

  13. This issue is, Ulty (although I do respect his intelligence) has clearly stated, anyone who is a PRO is anti American. This is false. I believe PRO Americans are the most logical and loyal.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Pro-illegals are not pro-American, they are quite the opposite. To say that they are the most logical and loyal is like saying that Clinton was loyal to Hillary.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Pat,
    Of course PROs are very patriotic and very loyal. They are seeking solutions to the Immigration issues we are currently facting. They stand tall with such bravery and courage, especially given the current tenor in this discussion.

    I will also add, I believe Hillary has always had tremendous courage and strength in her ability to surpass the many obstacles and difficult times she has encountered. Her courage and resilience have put her in line to be the next President of our Great United States!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. The pro's are patriotic towards some other countries and it's citizens, not ours. That isn't loyalty to our country. Their solutions to the illegal immigration problem also reflects that. I don't call anarchy, bravery either.

    Hillary has had many personal problems and yes she has overcome them but that doesn't necessarily make her presidential material. I oppose her political views and policies as I do most Democrats.

    Dee responded, "The problem with your argument is you are attempting to make the 12M the bogeymen and all Hispanics. They are not. That is clear.

    Please re-read my post above and your response. Where do I even mention Hispanics or anyone else as bogeymen? Of course, I would make the same argument about Bundy, Gacy, BTK and every terrorist. Most of those I wouldn't want to be on the same plane with me whether or not they were restrained or drugged. Would you like Hannibal Lecter sitting next to you. Please explain why your response attributes to me ideas not expressed in my post.

    As Pat points out my focus and that of other Pro-legals has been on illegal aliens. If we tend to think in terms of illegal Hispanics that is only because that is ethnicity of the vast majority. We oppose all illegals of whatever stripe. Write it down so you won't ever forget it.

    Calling an illegal alien illegal is hardly making bogeymen out them. Their illegality is a simple fact that you ignore in your bias in favor of them instead of the national interest. One cannot call that patriotism with a straight face. Yours must be very crooked.

  19. We need to do more mau-mauing of the illegals and those who support them.

    To mau-mau is to display righteous but controlled anger. What you want it to do is scare the living piss out of the illegals. You want to demonstrate with dead-seriousness your absolute willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

    To mau-mau is to send a message that amounts to a threat, but not a threat of violence. What we're doing here, what any good Mau Mau does, is to enforce the law, not break it.

    Even a big mau-mau doesn't have to be loud. You can deliver it in a whisper if you've got the other person’s attention.

  20. As Rt. rev. Rollo Sykes said, "Ain't no percentage in being nice, when they got their thumb two joints up in your eye socket."

    Twelve million illegals sounds like more than two joints!

  21. Ulty,
    You can substitute the word in CAPS with any words. Any prisoner under a removal order would be suspect. Your statement is akin to the statement about the driver who cuts you off. The next time someone cuts you off, do you refer to their ethnicity or legal status or do you refer to their action. I refer to their action, not their status.
    I know there are people who do the former.

    Ulty´s statement:

    Ted Haggartis the spokesperson for the Christian Conservatives. Can you imagine? He of all people is speaking about the Anti Christ and prophecy.

  25. Julie Myers should be fired rather than re-nominated. She has failed miserably in her job performance. In fact, ICE was quiescent until this year when the pro-legals stared raising cane.

  26. "...anyone who is a PRO is anti American."

    As a famous ex-U.S. president once said,"It depends on how you define that term."

    If Anti-American includes:
    1. Favoring the interests of foreign nationals over those of U.S. Citizens;
    2. Losing sight of the national interest;
    3. Flying the flag of a foreign nation, especially above that of the U.S. or not severely criticizes those who do;
    4. Being unable to see any solution to the illegal alien problem other than mass legalization;
    5. Being unable to see the problem 14th amendment babies create for us;
    6. Being unaware that illegal aliens and legal immigrants raises the poverty level of the U.S.;
    7. Being unable to see the virtue of an Official English amendment to the constitution;
    8. Belief in open borders;
    9. An inability to see how a significant number of expedited deportations will buttress physical barriers at the border;
    10. No appreciation of how the present policy of allowing foreign medical demands at the border affects medical care available to citizens especially those in need of Medicaid assistance;
    11. Oblivious to the long term consequences of present illegal alien numbers, the 14th amendment and legal immigration in excess of 200,000 per year.
    etc.

    Then if the shoe fits...
