Soap Opera Politics Vol 1, Issue 3

Iowa Results, my observations and what the Blogs are saying:

Democrats:
The Dems brought out twice as many supporters in the IOWA cacuses vs the GOP. It is a clear sign Americans want a change!
Obama: 38% The Clear Winner! His message: CHANGE! As he approached the podium last evening, he hugged his wife and children and began his powerful and passionate speech, "We are choosing hope over fear. We're choosing unity over division, and sending a powerful message that change is coming to America. " I noticed he was surrounded by many young people of many ethnicities. They were all energized, like a pep rally. Afterwards, the old blowhard Chris Matthews was just gushing about Obama´s speech. The MSM loves Obama!
Edwards: 30% . Number 2. A good showing. His wife introduced Edwards before he talked to his supporters last evening. She looked very tired. I felt sad for her. Edwards did a good job with not much money.
Hillary: 29%. A disappointing Number 3. Hillary´s message to her troops, "We've got more work to do." Behind Hillary stood Bill, Chelsea and Madeleine Albright. The supporters in the background all had gray hair. They all looked exhausted, especially Bill (who clapped with just the palms of his hands, like his hands were burning) and Madeleine. You gotta give it to Madeleine. She is 70 years old and still out there, plugging away. Watching the three speeches all in a row made the comparisons so obvious. The nomination is going to go to Obama unless some huge scandal blows him out of the water.
The Dropouts: Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, soon -Dennis Kucinich. It appears they are passing their supporters on to Obama. Speculation is Richardson will drop out after the next one. It appears he will be passing his supporters on to Obama. Gravel should have dropped out long ago.

Republicans:
Only brought out half as many supporters as the Dems! America wants a change!
Huckabee: 34% The Clear Winner! I watched his speech afterwards. Chuck Norris and his wife stood directly behind Huckabee. They both kept bobbing their heads and trying to soak up the camera throughout Huckabee´s speech. Huckabee´s poor wife looked lost. She barely got an acknowledgement from the old man. His wife seems like a nice, older woman. Not a trophy wife like Thompson, Romney or Kucinich have. Huckabee should be bringing her to the forefront and treat her as a partner, not leave her off to the side! The ANTI sites are just seething about Huckabee´s win. They blame the win on the Evangelicals who "don´t listen to anything the ANTIs are saying on their blogs!" I think its only a matter of time before Huckabee falls down the rabbit hole.
Romney: 25%. For all the money that Romney spent in Iowa, this was a very, very disappointing 2nd place finish, especially considering the overall low showing by Republican supporters and virtually no support from Independents. Some bloggers are blaming Romneys "loss" on his negative ads.
Thompson and McCain: 13%. Tied for 3rd Place. There are blog rumors that Thompson is dropping out but Thompson´s team denies this. The ANTI sites are angry that McCain is getting any kind of support. They also blame the Evangelicals who don´t listen to anyone and will do what they want.
Paul: 10%. Coming in 4th surprises the MSM. His supporters may be wacky, but they are very loyal and they give money. For the GOP, it is still anybody´s game.
Guiliani: 4% and Rudy does not care. His entire campaign is predicated on chaos lasting until late January, when he thinks he can clobber his rivals in Florida. Some of the MSM are predicting, based on Iowa results, that Guliani´s strategy is working!
Hunter: 1%. Last!! His supporters blame his poor showing on the MSM. Whatever the reason, he should just drop out.

  1. Boy you must have a magical mind reading ability, dee. "The anti's think this, they are mad about that". Do you also know what the winning lottery numbers are? lol
It is only your opinion what the anti's think about this caucaus and the results.

We anti's don't like Huckabee because he has been a flipflooper on the illegal immigration issue. We don't like Obama because he is open borders/amnesty fool who lacks experience. I can say these things because I am in the anti circle, not you, and I don't claim to be a mind reader like you do.

  2. Pat, As you know, I read many blogs. There are several ANTI discussion threads dedicated to angrily ranting about Huckabee. Doesn´t take a mind reader to understand that they are angry.

  3. Many if not most anti's do not post in blogs or forums. You know very little about how most law abiding Americans think.

  4. Hmm, I didn't detect any real anger in the ALIPAC forum, just opinions expressed. Of course you want to see what you want to see anyway. I have seen opinions expressed in pro forums too. Some angry, some not. Who cares? Is it supposed to mean something other than feeling strongly about one's views? Is it sinister or against the law to express emotions?

  5. LOL Pat, You are hilarious today.

As I said with my post is about: "Iowa Results, my observations and what the Blogs are saying"

  6. I fail to see the humor in my responses but you don't comprehend much anyway, so I shouldn't be surprised that you would find humor in weird places.

You spend far too much time in blogs, forums and radical groups to get a taste of what the real world is about and what real Americans are actually thinking.

  7. It is the "silent" majority that your side has to fear, dee. Not those in blogs or forums or what is said in the MSM.

  8. Pat, I think current politics very interesting. That is why I read. That is why I study.
As the saying goes, I seek first to understand, then to be understood.

I will continue to study and to share information. That is the point of my blog, and to discuss civilly.

    Obviously you like it here!!

  9. Not really, I am just fascinated with demented minds, lol.

  10. And for all the studying you do, you still refuse to acknowledge the truth and you still stay on the wrong side of the issue. That's what happens when someone has an agenda. It trumps everything.

  11. Obama is the clear winner. MSNBC just reported:
    blacks savor Obama victory

    quotes from the article include:
. African-Americans see signal moment in race relations after Iowa result
. a sign that Americans were moving beyond rigid thinking about race.
. ‘Oh, my God, we’re on the cusp of something big about to happen,’
. African-Americans voiced pride and amazement over his victory

  12. Have you switched your support for Hillary to Obama? Didn't you previously state your choice was Hillary?

  13. Anon, I took the Presidential Candidate Quiz. (3rd from top right side of my blog page) It said the candidate that most supported my views was Dodd. Then Hillary, Obama and Edwards came close to next.

I am going to support the Democratic Candidate. I thought it might be Hillary. It still may be. It may be Obama. Or Edwards. Or maybe even Gore. One thing is certain. We need a change from the GOP. We all need to vote for this change. I will continue to monitor the standings and views of the candidates and vote in November and post them here on my blog.

  14. I don't think it is a change from the GOP that is needed but a change from idiots like Bush. There are a couple of good Republican candidates running that haven't supported Bush all along.

  15. Obama is smart enough to realize that illegal immigrants drive down wages for unskilled african americans.

He might just surprise us by doing the right thing once he is elected

    ReplyDelete
  16. anon, I don't know my gut feeling is that Obama is bad news.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The honst truth is that Huck has spent his career doing things that are pro-illegal.

He has recently adopted a set of promises and policies that are against the illegals.

What I want to know is, what will he do if he is elected president -

  18. Most of the republican base, in my humble opinion, and most of the republican big money donors like having massive unskilled immigration from Mexico.

They genuinely like being able to hire people to clean their house and tend to their garden very cheaply.

Calls for reducing unskilled immigration from Mexico just do not resonate.

I *strongly* predict a McCain victory in New Hampshire. McCain is notoriously in favor of massive immigration of unskilled people from Mexico.

Step back and watch. I am not arguing whether the "pros" or the "antis" are right or wrong - i am not arguing who is more ethical and who is smarter.

I am just simply stating that most republicans really really enjoy the cheap labor. And most republicans really don't care about the arguments that immigration from Mexico hurts blacks and unskilled american citizens.

    Look for McCain to win

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think the only Republican citizens who want this mass unskilled labor force in our country are the business owners and the rich. Most regular Republican citizens do not. Also the Republican congressmen are the ones who fought against amnesty, not the Democrats.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Patriot -

The republicans of New Hampshire know that McCain is strongly in favor of amnesty.

If the republicans of New Hampshire vote for him that is a pretty clear sign of where they stand

By the way, it is not just the wealthy business owners that hire illegals -

Even many middle middle class people hire illegals as cleaning people to clean their apartment.

    ReplyDelete
  21. anon, NH does not represent the entire country. Yes, there are some middle class citizens that lack in moral scruples too but the majority of your everyday, regular Republican citizen do not advocate and amnesty for these illegals and do not support their presence here.

Let's see who backs McCain vs Romney countrywide. I bet on Romney for his opposition to illegal aliens and an amnesty for them.

  22. Today on Meet the Press both the Republican and Democratic consultants predicted a McCain vs Obama Presidential race.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Too bad, that would a disaster for this country either way.
