Soap Opera Politics Vol 1, Issue 4

My observations and what the Blogs are saying:
Democrats:
All the Democrats have asked for is a candidate that can win in 2008. It appears they have their man.

OBAMA (BHO): The Only Candidate Now! Not only does he have the support of the 50% of Americans (Democrats) who voted in the last election, he also has many who did not vote or who voted Republican. He has young people, all minorities, Hollywood and, the most critical of all, the Independents. Biden, Dodd, Kucinish and Richardson have asked their followers to support Obama. My advice to Obama: Wait until the Dem Convention to name your VP. That way, the GOP will not attack him yet. My predictions: he will pick someone completely different for VP, none of the other Dem candidates. I believe he will pick a man and someone under 50. I expect the GOP will start massive attacks against him now! They will have a bit of a problem however. The media, especially the MSM, already like him.

For those of you who are not Obama believers, I read something on the internet yesterday that absolutely convinced me Obama has the election in the bag. I was reading some ANTI discussion boards and one of them had this huge debate about Obama. One of the old "Dee Haters" (my frequent readers might remember "WMM") was on his soapbox preaching many kudos in favor of BHO. The ANTIs (including our buddy STI) were just bashing WMM, yet he continued even through all the bashing (he probably got banned). WMM said about BHO: "Frankly, I don't feel anymore sorry for him because he's black any more than I do for Hillary because she's white, why would the fact that he's black be a reason to "feel sorry for him" or anyone else that is black for that matter? There are plenty of black people who feel sorry for white people who risk cancer trying to emulate the skin color black folks. He's worked hard to become who he is, no white daddy with tons of money, connections and big business corrupting the system behind him to slither him into the highest office of the US. If Boosh had been a black guy that was cheated into office, he would have been assasinated 7.5 years ago. As for his brilliance, Obama is a Harvard graduate. A former attorney and rock star at Sidley and Austin one of the top firms in the US, so you can't dismiss him or discount his achievement because he's black either. No legacy or daddy with money, no brother in Florida rigging the votes, just hard work and determination." Afterwards I thought, "Wow!! If some of the ANTIs are true believers, then BHO has this election in the bag!"
BTW, I will make a peace offering to WMM. Come visit my blog. Talk to us about your BHO views and any new insights you may have on CIR. The only rules I ask we keep here are, keep it civil and "Don´t Tase me Bro!"
Hillary: UPDATE: HILLARY is the COMEBACK KID and CAME IN 1st in NH! Monday night, she cried during an interview. (Showing her Human Side Helped!) To put the cherry on this disaster, her husband Bill is quoted as saying, "I can't make her younger, taller, male.'' When Hillary heard he said this, I´m sure she thought, "And I can´t make this idiot shut up!" The bad news for Hillary, the talking heads are saying Hillary is bringing on the old Carville, Begala team to lead them out of this mess. I do not think this will help. I only hope they don´t try too much mud slinging. That never works. We need Hillary to stand strong as the good Senator from NY.
Edwards: It is over! Polls are saying he is a distant 3rd in NH. He was on MSNBC saying he is not giving up until the Convention. I hope he gives up soon so his wife can take a rest.

Republicans:

Two and three times as many Americans are coming out to participate in the Democratic primaries vs Republican, even in the Red States. The New Hampshire polls are saying McCain will win this one, Romney will come in 2nd and Huckabee 3rd. The rest of the candidates are completely out of the running. Guiliani is still holding on to his strategy of chaos lasting until late January, when he thinks he can clobber his rivals in Florida. I think the American people are Voting for NONE of the ABOVE.

If the GOP wants a viable candidate, they are going to have to find a totally NEW Candidate. My advice is, the new candidate should look like this guy.

  1. Obama belongs to one of the most racist churches in America. How can people be SO blind to this??

  2. Pat,
You and many of the ANTI sites are reporting very inaccurate, old news. The Chicago Tribune disputed these allegations.

The article refutes what they say. This is why the mainstream media is not reporting the inaccurate GOP claims. Here is some of what the article says about his church:

    Tribune Article:
"Even the simple act of choosing a church can become fodder in a national political campaign... conservative critics already have begun a buzz on the Internet about a far less known part of his biography: his adherence to the creed of the prominent South Side church he attends, Trinity United Church of Christ. The congregation posits what it terms a Black Value System, including calls to be "soldiers for black freedom" and a "disavowal of the pursuit of middleclassness."

..Obama said it was important to understand the document as a whole rather than highlight individual tenets. "Commitment to God, black community, commitment to the black family, the black work ethic, self-discipline and self-respect," he said. "Those are values that the conservative movement in particular has suggested are necessary for black advancement.

"So I would be puzzled that they would object or quibble with the bulk of a document that basically espouses profoundly conservative values of self-reliance and self-help."

In his published memoirs, Obama said even he was stopped by Trinity's tenet to disavow "middleclassness" when he first read it two decades ago in a church pamphlet. The brochure implored upwardly mobile church members not to distance themselves from less fortunate Trinity worshipers.

"As I read it.. it was a very simple argument taken directly from Scripture: `To whom much is given much is required,'" Obama said in the interview.

..Obama.. thrust himself into the hothouse atmosphere of presidential campaign politics, where the principles and teachings of Obama's church might require some explanation for, say, some white, middle-class voters in Iowa or New Hampshire.

As a candidate who has presented himself as able to enliven a national discourse on faith--he filled his now-famous Democratic convention speech in 2004 with religious language--Obama would not be the first presidential candidate to invite an examination of the political implications of his religious beliefs.

Like President John Kennedy, a Roman Catholic, 2000 (the year as published has been corrected in this text) vice presidential candidate Joseph Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew, or current GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney, a Mormon, Obama at some point in a presidential campaign would be asked to explain how he would balance the tenets of his faith with his political positions.

The intended meaning behind certain Trinity precepts is complex...Obama scoffed at the suggestion that Trinity espouses a value system that seeks to help blacks exclusively. "If I say to anybody in Iowa--white, black, Hispanic or Asian--that my church believes in the African-American community strengthening families or adhering to the black work ethic or being committed to self-discipline and self-respect and not forgetting where you came from, I don't think that's something anybody would object to."

  3. patriot, that's news to me, Obama will have to deal with that issue eventually - if he hasn't already. Romney has a similar issue to deal with because Morminism is also known to have some racist doctrine inbedded in it's theology - as well as some crazy doctrine.

Anyway, I wouldn't count out Clinton just yet because; for one, it's way to early to crown anyone, no matter how sunny it looks for Obama and gloomy for Clinton; two, she's a Clinton, they're like the 60's Boston Celtics, they don't lose; three, maybe, subconsiously, Americans do not want change, having a Clinton - or Bush - in office will maintain the status-quo; and four, conservatives and some right-wing pundits support Obama, whether it's just to keep Clinton out or because they support him for his somewhat Republican health-care plan and his Bush-like Pakistan views, no one knows, but the support is real and can be used against him.

  4. For the Republicans, man, I don't blame you for not saying much about them because there really isn't much to say about them...

It's probably going to be McCain though because Romney is Mormon - I remember seeing a poll that had something like 66% of Americans admitting that they wouldn't vote for a Mormon -, Giuliani is too liberal, crazy, and Catholic, and Huckabee is absolutely clueless when it comes to foreign policy and he's seemingly trying to emulate Bush Jr's first campaign strategy.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I couldn't find the poll that said 66% wouldn't vote Mormon (all I found was one saying that 66% believe America is not ready for a Mormon president.. my mistake), but I did find one that said 17% wouldn't vote for a Mormon. Either way, that's a significant number of voters, especially compared to the 4% that wouldn't vote for a Catholic (Giuliani), 5% that wouldn't vote for a black person (Obama), and even the 12% that wouldn't vote for a woman (Clinton).

Percentage Unwilling to Vote for a Mormon Holds Steady

  6. I'd vote for a Mormon before I would vote for a Muslim. But then I am not voting based on religious affiliation but on where a candidate stands on the issues.

I am a registered Republican but I cannot stand McCain, Huckabee or Guilliani. As far as Hillary's chances, I don't think Americans want another Clinton or Bush back in the White House for some time to come.

All the Democrat candidates keep talking about is "change" and yet I hear very little detail as to what this "change" will be if they are elected. Change isn't necessarily good either unless they are just talking about a change from Bush tactics. What other changes do they have in mind? I have watched all the debates from both parties and I am still puzzled about this "change".

    ReplyDelete
  7. The candidates know that almost everyone is fed up with the state of politics today - that's why so many people uncharacteristically voted in the last elections and why so many are showing up today - so a logical strategy would be to move away from the current president's policy - even the Republicans are doing this - and repeat a change mantra.

What exactly does that mean? Well, even some Republicans have a health-care plan, almost everyone wants to get out of Iraq, almost everyone has their own ideas for Iran, counter terrorism, immigration reform, and the economy - which hasn't been discussed at all from what I've seen and read.

But mostly it's just about distancing themselves, at least, on the surface, from Bush, because, in reality, there's not much difference between Bush and the front-runners on both sides.

  8. Mirror,
I guess you and I do have a point of disagreement here. I´ve been watching the political coverage daily. It is clear to me Hillary and Edwards are finished. The Dems sole goal is to have a candidate that will win. With the majority Dems, minorities and Independents clearly supporting BHO, it is very clear to me he IS the candidate of choice.

  9. Pat,
    CHANGE = CHANGE FROM BUSH

    CHANGE = CHANGE FROM REPUBLICANS!!!!

    PERIOD!!

Just like when Carter was elected. The Majority of Americans are saying we are Mad as Hexx and WE DO NOT WANT Republicans in Power ANY MORE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Mirror,
Just one more thing to add.
I am comfortable with Obama, Hillary or Edwards as the candidate. I just want a Dem to win. They all meet the criteria for me.

I, like many Dems, just want a candidate that will WIN in November!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. As a lifetime democrat, I want a democrat to win.

I pray it is a democrat that understands that the exit of 20 million illegals will push up wages for the working poor of America.

I pray for someone with the wisdom to see this and courage to deliver

    ReplyDelete
  12. dee, I am neither deaf nor blind. No need to type in Caps. You are talking about a change of parties that's all. What positive changes will come about if the Dems are in control on the issues? Bush wasn't a good representation of the Republican party. The party had distanced themselves from him long ago. You are just hoping that Bush has discredited the whole Republican party but he hasn't. People aren't that stupid. We have had bad presidents within both parties. Oh, that's right you are one who believes if there is one rotten apple in the barrel then the whole barrel must be rotton ala your MM rants.

If you think most Republicans are going to vote for a Democrat just because they didn't like Bush, think again!

    ReplyDelete
  13. anon, I wish it were true but unfortunately I don't see one Democrat candidate that is other than an open borders/amnesty for illegal aliens raving lunatic. I might be tempted to vote for a Dem myself if there were one like the one you are wishing for. There isn't and in fact there are far too many Republican presidential candidates of the same mindset. The choices are very limited.

  14. Pat,
You will vote for whomever you want to vote for. No one could possibly influence you more than yourself.
I suspect you will choose someone like Paul or Hunter. You and the other 1 - 5 %.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Paul or Hunter won't get the nomination. I suspect that the majority of Republicans will support Romney as will I if he gets it. I believe he will get the nomination. Republicans make up a lot more than a mere 1-5% of our population.

  16. Found this on another site.

    Who is
    Barack Obama?

    U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta.

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office
he did NOT use the holy bible, but instead used the Koran.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's presidential bid.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better
way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

  17. Pat, HA HA...
It looks like you fell for the hoax article-email about BHO.
    SNOPES-Obama article FALSE

  18. Mirror, You were right about not discounting Clinton. It looks like she is the come-back kid!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I merely posted what I read. I don't have an opinion on the matter. But as expected Obama's campaign people are claiming much of it isn't true. It all remains to be seen, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nope. Many independent sources, including Snopes, an independent source, have researched it and said it is bogus.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It shouldn't be that hard to find out the "truth" about Obama whatever it may be and I am sure if he gets the nomination the truth will come out. The opposition always makes sure of that.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I know truth will stay with the Dem candidates! Both Hillary and Obama are Honest and they truly care about the American People!

I would be happy with either candidate for President in 2008!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Your remarks about Obama and Hillary are just your opinion. You have no more proof of their honesty or dishonesty than I do. But the truth will prevail regardless of either of our OPINIONS.

I don't like either ones' stance on illegal immigration therefore they aren't presidential material in my book.
