Security-training camp won't be built in Potrero

Blackwater Worldwide dropped its plans yesterday to build a military and law enforcement training camp in East County, ending a storm of controversy over the security contractor's presence in the county.
Brian Bonfiglio, a Blackwater vice president, said the decision came down to noise – gunfire tests at the 824-acre site in Potrero exceeded county standards – and not fiery opposition from residents, environmentalists and those politically opposed to Blackwater's role as a contractor guarding officials in Iraq.
“Blackwater has maintained its position from the very beginning that if we could not meet or exceed (California) and San Diego County guidelines that we would not proceed, and we are keeping to that commitment,” Bonfiglio said in a statement...

Residents feared Blackwater's training facility would bring noise and traffic to the community. They and others also didn't like the idea of having the government contractor in San Diego County, particularly after reports of a Sept. 16 shooting in Baghdad in which Blackwater employees killed 17 Iraqi civilians. After the incident, Blackwater Chairman Erik Prince was called before Congress, and U.S. officials imposed tougher restrictions on Blackwater and other security companies working in Iraq.
Hedlun, who began serving on the Potrero planning group in January 2007, was initially the only group member to oppose Blackwater. Opponents gathered petitions for a recall election targeting those who had voted in favor of the project.
In December, five members of the group were recalled and replaced with candidates who opposed Blackwater's plans. Carl Meyer, the newly elected chairman of the group, said they had planned to discuss a resolution against the project at their next meeting.
“It's great news for the community of Potrero,” Meyer said. “We'll have a party.”

If you think this means that we aren't going to secure our borders now, think again dee. I really don't care who does it or how it is done just as long as it is done and it will be. So this is no victory for the pro-open borders people like you. It just means the borders will be secured using another method or company. Then you will start crying all over again.
ReplyDeleteDee, you wrote the following
ReplyDelete"I have said all along I am for secure borders.
What does that have to do with the 12M here? Most have been here +5 - 20+ years and have been working and contributing."
Dee, the reason why the 20 million must be encouraged to self deport is as follows - the 20 million illegals here in the USA today have family members outside the usa that they want to bring in.
so long as the 20 million are still here in the usa they will push and push for their family members to come to the usa and join them
it is very simple. the exit of the 20 million means their families won't follow them to the usa.
if the 20 million stay, eventually their family members will come here too
Excellent point, anon!
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteThe People have spoken. They DO NOT want Blackwater in their backyard patrolling our streets!
Anon,
ReplyDeleteOnce the borders are secured and 12M achieve legal status, there will no longer be a "rule of law" issue.
dee, it was only some people in San Diego because of the noise involved, not the whole country. It had nothing to do with patrolling our streets either. Nice try but no cigar.
ReplyDeleteWe will always have the rule of law as an issue in this country dee because we are a nation of laws and that will never change. What anon was talking about is that if we legalized all these illegals they would petition for all their relatives to come here too.
ReplyDeleteWe the People have spoken!
ReplyDelete“It's great news for the community of Potrero”
Blackwater go home!
Save Act will NOT Pass!!
Have another drink, dee. You're going to need it because the SAVE ACT will pass.
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteLOL
You speak so much about drinking, it is hilarious.
Have another martooni!!
Me and mine don´t need it to be optimists on life!
xxx oooo
Really, well someone from the past must have given me a bum steer then. It was so believable though because of how irrational you get after happy hour in the evening. Don't tell me you act that way sober. Oh my god!
ReplyDeleteMe, I don't drink at all.
Pat,
ReplyDeleteYou listen to too many tweety birds! LOL
As I said, We the People have spoken!
ReplyDelete“It's great news for the community of Potrero”
Blackwater go home!
Save Act will NOT Pass!!
dee, it wasn't tweetybird that told me so. You'd be mighty surprised who it was.
ReplyDeleteI guess you think if you keep repeating over and over that the SAVE ACT won't pass it will come true? You do tend to repeat things over and over on just about everything. Sorry your repitious remarks aren't going to stop this legislation from going through.
The "people" were only annoyed about the noise level, nothing else!
Pat Dear,
ReplyDeleteNothing surprises me. I know you would love for me to be angry. I know your agenda is to rile me up and get me to stop blogging. That will never happen sweety.
I have far too much to teach you!
xxx
We the People Do NOT Want Blackwater in our backyards! That was obvious and many people in SoCal said so.
ReplyDeleteYou may choose to live in denial but these are the facts.
I do not blame them! In fact, if they tried it here, I would also protest.
dee, stop patronizing me. Your choice to be angry is something I see in the pro-illegals all the time. I don't care if you blog or don't blog, just follow your own mission statement on your blog of debating with civility and that means no name calling.
ReplyDeleteYou teach me? Teach me what? How to put my own race above the best interests of this whole country? How to wallow in the past and blame all white people alive today for it? How to play victim? No thanks! No one wants to learn bad behaviour.
Don't you read the articles that you post in here? It said that some people in San Diego objected to the noise of the training by Blackwater. There was no other objections. The objections certainly weren't for the same reasons that you object to them of which you are trying to pass off on "we the people". At least debate with honesty here. Go back and read the reasons for yourself.
Here are the words of the Blackwater exec himself. Any other objections I would be willing to bet were made by resident ethnocentric Hispanics who don't want their illegal amigos to go home or to be prevented from coming here. The San Diego area has a high population of Hispanics.

We the ppl agree with you Dee!!! Don't let self righteous ANTI'S like "Pat" ever think otherwise, you will teach him/her the error in their ways, and if they don't learn, let them keep dancing to their own tune (dancing to the "It's Pat" song from SNL)
ReplyDelete"We" the people that you are referring to are the minority. You are only the ethnocentrics in this issue.
ReplyDeleteThere is no "error" in one's ways or self-rightousness in honoring our immgiration laws and expecting them to be enforced. It is called being a loyal American.
Anon,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments.
I too think Pat will learn the errors of his ways. I think he is half way there. That is why he keeps coming back here to comment so often. At least he is reading another perspective. Maybe someday it will sink in!!
Please join us often Anon!!
dee, what part of "there is no error in one's ways or self-rightousness in wanting our immigration laws enforced" didn't you understand?
ReplyDeleteI post in here to expose you for what you are, an ethnocentric without this country's best interests at heart. Someone who snubs our laws so that their ethnic group can gain political power and become the majority in this country. Someone who hates the fact this country has been culturally, ethnically and racially of anglo white majority since it's founding and it would remain so without millions of mostly Hispanic illegal aliens entering into our country. I have nothing to learn from you except how to be a disloyal citizen of this country.
Anyone can see right through your ethnocentric agenda. That isn't what this country is about. It is about legal immigration in controlled numbers so that the new immigrants don't change the demographics of this country but rather blend in and adopt our mainstream culture. It is about being a nation of laws. Our immigration laws are not unjust and therefore don't need changing or defying.
