The charges: criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, ethnic intimidation, criminal solicitation/hindering apprehension or prosecution and purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of liquor. The Court Date is set for August 26 at 9 am ET. Let´s hope JUSTICE PREVAILS. America is Watching!!
The two Shenandoah Heights teenagers charged with fatally beating an illegal Mexican immigrant in Shenandoah in July will appear this month in Schuylkill County Court to argue that they should be tried as juveniles. In similar one-page orders file Wednesday in the county court, President Judge William E. Baldwin scheduled the joint hearing for Brandon J. Piekarsky, 16, and Colin J. Walsh, 17, for 9 a.m. Aug. 26. Piekarsky and Walsh are charged with killing Luis Eduardo Ramirez Zavala, 25, of Shenandoah, in a case that has attracted national attention because of alleged racial overtones. They will be asking Baldwin to allow them to be tried as juveniles instead of adults, and the decision will make a huge difference in the penalties they could face. Piekarsky is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, ethnic intimidation, criminal solicitation/hindering apprehension or prosecution and purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of liquor. Walsh is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and ethnic intimidation.
Schuylkill County detectives charged Piekarsky, Walsh and Derrick M. Donchak, 18, of Shenandoah, with beating Ramirez on July 12. Ramirez died two days later at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.Prosecutors have alleged that those who assaulted Ramirez yelled ethnic slurs while doing so; Piekarsky, Walsh and Donchak all are white. Donchak, who does not have the option of being tried as a juvenile because he already is 18 years old, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, hindering apprehension or prosecution, ethnic intimidation, corruption of minors, purchase or consumption of alcohol and selling or furnishing alcohol to minors. Since Piekarsky and Walsh each are charged with criminal homicide, they have been imprisoned without bail since being arrested July 25.Donchak is free on bail.
