John McCain came out today and said he is stopping his presidential campaign. I think we should honor his decision and allow him to cut and run from running for President.
McCain certainly is an odd duck. This morning, Obama called him and asked him to join him to issue a joint statement, knowing they agree in principle in how they wish to support the Bailout crisis. In short, the two agree on:
1. Setting up an independent, bi partisan board to provide oversight for the 17B.
2. American Taxpayers treated like investors (like Buffet). The $$ will be paid back.
3. Help people stay in their homes
4. Not one dime to CEOs who got us in this Mess. (No welfare for Wall St execs)
3. Help people stay in their homes
4. Not one dime to CEOs who got us in this Mess. (No welfare for Wall St execs)
McCain returned Obama´s call this afternoon and was in agreement. He mentioned the thought of stopping the campaign. Obama thought the American Public deserves to be informed with the election so close. They deserve the debates. No decison was made on this, however, they still agreed to a joint statement.
McCain Cut & Run for the media, backing out of the bi partisan statement for the Good of the Country and instead chose to make a "Hail Mary" pass to try to save his deteriorating numbers in the polls. What a Disgrace! When McCain made his announcement, he reminded me of the guy who played the President of Schooner Tuna in the movie "Mr. Mom" Remember the commercial gimmick they used to convince people to buy more tuna? Mrs. Mom (Terri Garr) convinced Schooner he could sell more tuna by showing people “we care." In the commercial Schooner read the prepared statement in front of an American flag with “Glory, Glory Hallelujah” echoing in the background. Schooner said, “during this period of economic crisis, Schooner will drop the price of each can of tuna 50 cents. When these difficult times are over we will return to our regular pricing, but until that, remember, we’re in this together.” As Mrs. Mom puts it, this marketing campaign was a return to Americanism when Americans need it most and you will sell more tuna! While the ad company was initially skeptical by her recommendation, they quickly changed their minds when Schooner said, "I love this Shxx!" That´s McCain! The schmoozer! He is using this crisis to SELL More Tuna! To Sell Himself!! All on the backs of the American People! Shame on Him!!
As Dave Letterman says, "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."
McCain´s Policy "CHANGE.....The Subject!"
Is the REAL REASON to delay the VP debates next week with Palin? We know she won´t talk to the press. Now she has an excuse NOT to Debate!! Ahhh! Now we see the Root Cause!!
McCain is cutting and running from the Debates! As his VP is cutting and running from the Press!
ReplyDeleteThe committee has already put together the plan which includes the 4 items mentioned.
Now McCain, wants to take credit.
What a maroon!!
What is absolutely nutz is that Obama called McCain so they could make a joint, bi partisan statement in support of the 4 items. Then McCain selfishly and wrongly ran for the press to make a statement!
ReplyDeleteVery typical of his past behavior!
Shame on him!!
Just more McCain bashing by dee. If she can't find any dirt on him, she will manufacture some.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the idea that MAYBE the whole election maybe suspended?
ReplyDeleteSuspend the election???? LOL
ReplyDeleteEven Bush is angry at McCain.
A Prez candidate should be able to do more than one thing at once!
Dee, good point, if they were not all in the same pocket.
ReplyDeleteI think it is all rigged anyway. Why now do we have a crisis? It is too easy to blame a party or Bush. I think they are all in it together.
Just a conspiracy thought, lol
Even if the debate is delayed, McCain knows they will have them eventually so he would have no need to avoid it now for some sinister reason.
ReplyDeleteJust saw on Dobbs that the Democratic party got 57% of the fannie mae/freddy mac kickbacks (contributions). Obama got $126,000 and McCain got $21,000. Now what was that about the Republican party? lol.
Oh, thats right it was on Lou Dobbs so it must be a lie, lol.
Patriot,
ReplyDeleteWe must be tuned into the same channel. LOL
Freddie Mac paid Rick Davis, McCains Campaign Manager and his company, hundreds of thousands of dollars in consulting fees through last month. CONSULTING FEES!!
ReplyDeleteThe $$ ole Dobbs is talking about is campaign contributions over the last 20 years. Fannie-Freddie PACs in total gave 53 - 56% of their contributions to Republicans over that time. Too bad ole Dobbs cannot be honest in what he is communicating to his viewers. But then again most of his "loyal" viewers tend to be sheep who do NOT study the issues themselves. Just like loyal Fox viewers!
Pat, Why dont you study McCains relationships and support of bills that caused the S&L crisis? McCain´s friend Keating led that mess and McCain was right there with him.
ReplyDeleteOr what about Graham? McCain was right there with Graham when he pushed all the deregulations in the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000. Why dont you tell your buddy Dobbs this. Oh, I forget, he does not like to study the issues and report the true facts.
Dobbs is no buddy of mine. I am not even in the same league as he is. I only occasinally watch his show so don't start, ok? Of course you can prove he is lying though, right?
ReplyDeleteI already told you I am no fan of McCain but I am sick of the demonization of him and Palin by "your side" when Obama has enough skeletons in his own closet.
Or what about Greenspan's Folly
ReplyDeleteThe former Fed chief's culpability in Wall Street's woes.
If you like, this blame game can go back to the '70's to show who is at fault. However, look to 1994.
"Under the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act enacted by Congress in 1994, the Fed was given the authority to oversee mortgage loans. But Greenspan kept putting off writing any rules. As late as April 2005, when things were seriously beginning to go wrong, he was saying that subprime lending would work out for the common good—without government interference. "Lenders are now able to quite efficiently judge the risk posed by individual applicants," he declared at the time. So much for his feel. New regs didn't get put into place until this past July—long after the crash had come, under Greenspan's successor, Ben Bernanke. The new Fed chief's "Regulation Z" finally created some common-sense rules, such as forbidding loans without sufficient documentation to show if a person has the ability to repay."
’08 Rivals Have Ties to Loan Giants
As for the 20 years of contributions from Fannie and Freddie, Obama has only been in the Senate for just over 2.5 years now, McCcain has been there 26 years. Obama has 5 times the amount as McCain, you do the math.
"A Prez candidate should be able to do more than one thing at once!"
ReplyDeleteHell, maybe McCain can fix the mortgage mess, AND grant amnesty to the 15 million at the same time ...
McCain´s suspension of his campaign ploy was just to cancel the VP debates.
ReplyDeletePoor Palin could not even dialogue with Katie Couric!
Palin,: "I´ll have to get back to ya Katie!"
Sheeeeeeesh!!
Az,
ReplyDeleteThe issue few people are talking about out loud is health of McCain. He has cancerous melanoma. This is a very dangerous condition. His left eye, near where the cancerous growth was removed, is drooping. I saw that again today.
I feel sorry for him. The man is 72 years old. My gosh. Think about it. Think about your grandparents. Would you trust them in that position, given the volatile political environment we live in? Plus he is ill? If elected, it is more likely than not that Palin will have to step in. This is a very scary, scary thought, but if elected, it will probably happen. Are you willing to put all of us at stake if they are elected? My gosh!!
More of your BS rhetoric, dee. Do you have proof that McCain has asked to have the presidential debate delayed so that the VP debate would be delayed also or not even happen? What a story teller you are. There will be both a presidential and VP debate even if it is at a later date so what would be the point?
ReplyDeleteAs far as McCain's health goes, there have been many cancer survivors. It is just another desperate attempt by you and yours to get Americans to vote for Obams instead. It won't work!
I like Larry King but wouldnt want him as Prez or VP. Of all the Republican candidates, I do like McCain the best. However, the more I see of him, the more I do not want him as our next Prez.
ReplyDeleteEasily I acquiesce in but I think the collection should prepare more info then it has.
ReplyDeleteHope to learn a lot and have a nice experience here!
ReplyDeletemy best regards guys!
