Kick In the Head Case Update: Shenandoah Mayor Resigns Due to ANTI´s Stirring Trouble!

Danger is brewing in Shenandoah, PA.
Groups like "Save Shenandoah", and other groups from around the country including "Voice of the People USA", "Illegal Protest", "PA Pundits" and other groups with Skinhead and KKK affiliations are stirring up the pot. Last Saturday, the group rallied in a local park, members demanding the resignation of the Honorable Mayor Thomas F. O’Neill for his peace keeping efforts during the "Kick in the Head" trial.
Last evening at the Borough Council Meeting, audience members demanded the mayor´s resignation. By the end of the meeting the mayor, tired of the fight, submitted his resignation saying in part he is resigning due to "obvious political conflicts that have led to my decision to spend my retirement in peace.”
Now that the bullies have gotten their way, the ANTI blogosphere is cheering their victory saying this is a "huge score for Americans standing up for themselves." These hate groups are frothing! One commenter said, "One down a few thousand to go across america. So many twerps so little time!"
What will happen next in this troubled small town?
Shenandoah mayor resigns
SHENANDOAH — Mayor Thomas F. O’Neill submitted a letter of resignation to the borough council during Monday’s meeting. The resignation, which was accepted 4 to 1 with Councilman Donald Segal voting against it, will take effect Jan. 1. O’Neill said the primary reason for the resignation is the health and medical needs of his wife, which require the couple to relocate to a handicap-equipped residence. O’Neill said secondary to his family priorities are the “obvious political conflicts that have led to my decision to spend my retirement in peace.”
O’Neill has come under pressure to resign by several borough residents who expressed their opinion at public meetings. O’Neill is blamed by some for supporting illegal immigration in the borough, an issue that has been at the forefront in Shenandoah for some time and even more so following the July 14 death of Luis Eduardo Ramirez Zavala, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who died from wounds he suffered in a beating two days earlier. Some have alleged the beating was racially motivated and four teens have been charged in connection with the incident.About 30 people, some non-residents, attended the September borough council meeting, again raising the issue of illegal immigrants in the community and accused O’Neill of supporting illegal immigrants after he spoke at a Unity Rally held to counter the Voice of the People USA rally Aug. 30.
At the September meeting, O’Neill said he supported borough council in its attempt to pass an illegal immigration ordinance. Shenandoah advertised its ordinance in September 2007, but held off after Hazleton’s ordinance was challenged. O’Neill will have completed three years as mayor in December. He served on borough council from 2002-2005. “I have been faithful to my campaign promises by serving the citizens of the Borough of Shenandoah to the best of my ability by keeping their interests at the forefront of my decisions,” O’Neill read from the letter. “I have always put the people first. Unfortunately, during the past three years as mayor, my eyes have been opened to the realities of politics and it is a very disappointing picture.”
In other business, Joe Green, representing Save Shenandoah, asked the council about a crime watch.Voice of the People USA facilitated a meeting Sept. 20 at the Anthony P. Damato American Legion Medal of Honor Post 792 to set up a crime watch. During the meeting, Miller agreed to take charge of setting up the next meeting and addressing the council. Borough Manager Joe Palubinsky said he should set up a meeting with the mayor and police department to develop a policy for the crime watch. Palubinsky said no one was against it as long as it is done in a reasonable fashion and proper procedure.
Note: Latino Citizens of Shenandoah, Please be safe! Be aware that the Save Shenandoah group is rallying their members for this "Crime Watch." We hope and pray they do NOT use their measures to racially profile all Latinos in the area! Also, please ensure you are registered to vote in the Mayorial election to replace Mayor O´Neill. Please check the Save Shenandoah Website to keep yourselves informed of this group´s activities.

  1. Latino citizens demonstrate your patriotism and loyalty by openly and vigorously supporting the apprehension and expulsion of all illegals. Help to develop a policy to assure you are not harassed or discriminated against. Advocate openly for a reinterpretation of the 14th amendment to assure only the children of citizens are given birthright citizenship.

  3. An outside agitator, Ruth Miller from illegal protest.com is the speaker on this video.

She is the person who instigated the local citizens to get rid of the peace keeping mayor.

I hope the local citizens who view these videos by this agitators contact the FBI to investigate their terrorist activities and racial profiling.

  4. Miller is an ANTI Immigration agitator that has gone from city to city instigating the locals to a frenzy. Here is another video of her agitating locals in Hazelton. And another article about her agitating the locals in Lakewood NJ. It is part of the strategy many ANTI hate groups are employing to stir up local anger against, they say, illegal immigrants, but in reality, the Latino neighborhoods.

  5. This video shows another agitator, Dan Amato from Diggers Realm, riling the locals to form a "Crime Watch".

This is a very scary video. Amato riles the locals asking them if they have military experience and recommends they use military tactics when patrolling neighborhoods obviously racial profiling Latinos.

I am GLAD the honorable mayor contacted the Dept of Justice to investigate these outside agitators.

  6. Here is another video of these same agitators in Hershey PA.
They are all members of the same group: Voice of the People. In this video they advocate building the southern border fence and electrifying it.

  7. Voice of the People is said to be a hate group. It is led by Dan Smeriglio, the same Dan Smeriglio that orchestrated the 1st Shenandoah Rally which included members of the KKK and skinheads.

Here is one article from an ANTI blogger on his side, that cites some of Smeriglio´s "issues." Read what the article says. Accusations of child molester, racism, affiliation with KKK, skinheads, etc. This is the person leading the charge and instigating the locals in a sad town in pain.

His next in command and frequent speaking partner is Ruth Miller who hosts the ANTI website illegalprotest.com. These folks have been at this for years!

Next, Dan Amato, the agitator promoting military tactics when the locals form a Crime Watch group. He is a long time blogger, Digger, from DiggersRealm, another longtime ANTI website.

These are the people agitating in Shenandoah.

I am glad the Mayor called in the Dept of Justice. I hope they go to their own websites and view the videos these agitators have posted on their own websites and youtube!

  8. Dee,

Whatever happened to Ed and Wendi Medashefski? I don't see them anywhere. I think as long as you are going to talk about agitators, they are major A's, IMO.

  9. I heard Wendi from PA Pundits was there. She was at previous rallies and is very linked to Voice of the people and good friends with Smeriglio, Amato and Miller. They say they are all bad news!

I think the Justice Dept. needs to investigate all of them for inciting riots!

I feel sad for the Mayor!! Poor Guy. All he was trying to do is keep peace in his town.

  10. I watched all of the videos. The implied military tactics, racial profiling, inciting riots, hate rallies are completely false.

There is agitation on both sides of this issue. Why not admit to both of them instead of implying it is only on one side? Truth, honesty.....?

  11. "In this video they advocate building the southern border fence and electrifying it."

Let see you were once in favor of secure borders. But I guess on second thought you have always been in favor of ineffective border security -- a no brainer to figure out.

I don't believe you ever answered the question of how you would achieve secure borders effectively if that was your job and you would lose it if you failed to deliver. Now's the time. What ideas do you really have that will work? It is common knowledge that mere staffing increases and improved infrastructure will not do the job. So as border czar what else would you do? E-verify? Electrified fence? Expeditious deportation? Hard time for repeat offenders? Biometric IDs? I honestly believe this is a job you could not do because you would deny yourself and others the tools you would need.

  12. Anon,
    Wrong.
Listen to Amato talk about his years in the military and using those military tactics while Crime Watching.
Both videos demonstrate these outside agitators instigating trouble, the ousting of the peace keeping mayor and the military crime watch.
I hope the Dept of Justice investigates their terroristic activities.

  13. Ultima,
As I have always said, with the terroristic activies in the world today, it is important to secure all borders, ports and terminals. As you know the terrorists do not come in from Mexico. The large majority fly in or come in via Canada. That is why it is important for the Dept of Homeland Security to continue to ensure terrorist groups be monitored and their methods of entries denied.
For both the north and south border, border security agents should continue to monitor border entry and check for id and restrict those from entering that could cause us harm. Look at the border agent from Canada that allowed the man with the extremely contagious disease to re enter. That should have never, ever happened.

Regarding the fence on the southern border, as I predicted, this fence is costing us Billions of dollars and is still not built. Even where built, it is ineffective. What is the point of it other than to soothe the anger of the blustering ANTI Immigration Reform zealots. IF you wanted to build a fence to block all activity from the south, it would have to be 2000 miles long, a mile high, half a mile deep, electrified and fortified with helicopters and weapons of mass destruction. But that is not going to happen, nor should it.

If you want change in our Immigration Policies, we need comprehensive immigration reform. This includes supporting:
    1. secure all borders, ports, terminals with oversight by the dept. of homeland security and facilitated by trained BP agents.
    2. sanction, truly sanction ALL employers, including the contractors day laborers. This has not happened to date.
    3. allow the 12M here who are felony free to come out of the shadow and legally register, then get in line if they are interested in citizenship.
    4. End the ICE-Suppression Raids since there would no longer be a need for them.
    5. End the heinous Detention Centers since there would no longer be a need for them.

  14. Ultima,
Additionally, with the ANTI groups so opposed to any type of CIR, and with the vast reduction of new illegal immigrants into our country, those that have been here 5 to 20 years are aging. Some, passing away. Their children are citizens. After a few more years, there will not be a need for mass deportation.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So you may as well stop the costly private prison Detention Centers and the ICE Raids-Suppression Sweeps.

Tell all these radical agitators like the ones agitating in Shenandoah to take their hate and go home.

    Stop the RACIAL PROFILING!!!

  16. Wrong! Military tactics as in being combative were not mentioned in the video. All there was is a call for veterans to become actively involved in the illegal immigration issue. Since when is that military tactics? There was no racial profiling mentioned, nor riots nor hate rallies. Since when is being active in this issue, "agitating or causing trouble"? What terrorist activities are they involved in?

Wrong! The FBI director has already reported that there have been individuals from known terrorist countries that have entered from our southern border and disappeared into our country. Those who came in from Canada came with visas. They didn't come here illegally.

The fence is being built as we speak. I know someone from Homeland Security. It has been known to be very effective as a deterrant and to help out the Border Patrol.

Rewarding those already here with an amnesty will just encourage more to come. Securing our borders and internal enforcement is what will work. We will always need detention centers with or without an amnesty. It is just plain dumb to think that an amnesty will eliminate the need for them. To claim that is to claim that there will never be another illegal alien that will attempt to come her illegally again. Yeah, right!

Not all of the illegals here have citizen children. Many of them do not. They have the option of leaving them here or taking them with them. Is a piece of dirt one is born on more important than being with one's parents? They always have the option of returning when they are 18 years old.

Listen to the outside agitator Amato on the you tube link I provided.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMUp3SLfy2U
Ugh! You forced me to listen to his claptrap again! Go about 1 and a half minutes in.

He says he is a Veteran. Navy. Asks for show of hands of how many veterans. Asks them to guide the community by using their experience of military tactics used when they conducted Watch in the military and to employ these tactics when they form the Neighborhood Watches.

What do you think these tactics were in the military? what does it imply?
Who do you think they are targetting? who they perceive are illegal immigrants?
Who do they perceive as illegal immigrants?
    ALL LATINOS!

Then go to 6 minutes in. He talks about WHERE they can have Crime Watches. The city does not tell them where! Go out there and CLEAN UP THE COMMUNITY. Where they perceive they are doing drugs.
DEMAND CRIME Watch and no one can tell them where to do this.

Then at 8 minutes he talks about believing half of his kids school class were Latinos and he thought they were illegal immigrants.

Then at 8 minutes he goes over the top saying groups will invade their town and start a race war.

He is an outsider and an agitator. I hope the FBI comes in and investigates him for stirring up so much trouble! He doesnt even live there!!!

  18. These were Mr. Amato's actual words. He asked that veterans serve their communities and guide them with their leadership and experience. He mentioned crime watches (many American neighborhoods have neighborhood watches which is the same thing). Would you call this military tactics? The term is meant to conger up a picture of people in uniforms with guns and that isn't what a crime/neighborhood watch is about.

Mr. Amato never mentioned targeting certain neighborhoods or a certain ethnic group. Most illegal aliens ARE latinos. Your point?

He is probably right that many of the kids in his class were illegal alien latinos. There is a high percentage of them in our schools. Your point?

He should be investigated by the FBI for what? What crime has he committed?

Have you ever served in the military Dee? I thought not. Why don't you ask one of your nephews who is serving. It usually involves two people together from a look out or roving (walking around) keeping a keen eye out for trouble. Instead of jumping to inane conclusions, research. It is quite simple.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That isn't what Mr. Amato said. He did not say use your military tactics. You think I have a hearing problem?

He did not claim that all Latinos are illegal. You are putting words in his mouth. How dishonest of you.

No, he did not instigate violence. No, he is not advocating a race ware. So what that he wasn't a member of that community? Last I heard Americans are allowed to go to any communtiy they want to. He is an advocate against illegal immigration and when people are fighting a cause they often spread the word everywhere they can. It isn't against the law to do that. It is called freedom of speech.

  24. I just listened to the video again and nothing that Dee has stated that was in the video is true. I challenge each and every one of you to watch all the video's she posted for the truth and please post your findings in here.

Mr. Amato said he was invited to that community. Mecha, Lulac were not, yet they came. Why is it ok for them to come univited but there is something wrong with Mr. Amato coming under an invitation?

Of course you have to take into consideration he was an outside rabble rouser. Dan Amato is Digger, from Diggers Realm. If anyone ever went to that hate site they would know the context.
He has stirred up problems all along the NE corridor of the US. He and Miller and Smeriglio and Medashefski are all part of Voice of the People.

  27. The people of Shenandoah DO NOT Want these outside agitators in their town.
Reading the comments in their newspaper, the locals say to the outsiders,
"You people don't have a clue about Shenandoah, you are all from out of town. What gives you the right to just barge in here and stir things up with your hatred and discrimination? Illegal immigration is a problem on the national level, so take your agenda to Washington. When the federal government makes the changes necessary to control the influx of illegals in our country, the small towns can take action as directed. Until then, there is nothing a small town can do on its own. Please stop using my hometown as a platform for your own agenda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

  28. Heres another comment from a local Shenandoan:
"Peg wrote on Oct 16, 2008 10:18 AM:

" To Frank: Amen, brother, amen!

This so called: "Picnic" is just a front to rally, protest, against the illegal immigrants - nothing more. Don't be fooled - wolf in sheep clothing. If they (the leaders of this group) would look into the police logs/reports they would see that a crime watch should be for all crime.. not selected crime..and as they review the police logs they will see how many American born residents fill the logs with all types of crimes, drugs and DUI's. Are they outraged about those people? Nah....that's not really on their agenda. They will crucify the very small percentage of crime by illegals vs. the huge amount of crime from born Americans and excuse and overlook the real criminals in town. Pity.

I understand also some will be wearing "Shendo Wars" shirts....now, tell me, what kind of message is that? Tsk, tsk.
Peace not war, brother, peace not war.

Instead of stirring up a town that the leaders don't even live in...they should use this negative energy and turn it around to work with the people/community on how to help the town illegals become legal! Offer your hand to help out and help them become legal....just like it was done when the coal region was born. "

  31. I asked the other members to watch the videos for the truth instead of the spin going on here. I don't expect them to take my word for it. Obviously many didn't watch them or they would have made comments on them like I did.

There were just as many citizens of Shennendoah that wanted the VOP members in their community as those who didn't, perhaps even more. Otherwise, why were they invited by the community then? As in any controversy, there will be opinions on both sides. The fact that only one side of the community's opinions were posted doesn't mean squat. That is what someone does when they only want to convince of their side.

Again, Mr. Amato did not instigate violence and many of the other accusations that were made of him and the VOP in here. For the truth watch the videos.

If any of those people in the videos were skinheads or KKK reps, that doesn't mean that they represent the feelings of the community nor the opinions of the VOP reps or that they were invited. This also happens at pro reformer rallies. They also go into other communities invited or not invited.
Reconquistas and racists for their side also show up that may or may not have been invited.

I heard maybe one or two people from the community (not the VOP reps) say something about electrifying the border fence. Why would one assume that was the sentiments of the majority or of the VOP reps? If terrorists do enter through out southern border and commit a horrible act, I imagine we will be electrifying our fence down there. I am sure most Americans would be begging for it then.

Members, do not take my word for what is and isn't in those videos. Please watch for yourself for the truth.

There was no inciting of violence on the part of the speakers. Your videos do not show that. Anyone who watches them can see you are not being truthful.

Your remarks about the speakers having a violent agenda are not truthful either. Anyone watching the videos can see that. Very sad.
