New Report: Three Leading Anti-Immigration Groups Share Extremist Roots
Three Washington, D.C., organizations most responsible for blocking comprehensive immigration reform in 2007 are part of a network of groups created by a man who has been at the heart of the white nationalist movement for decades, according to a report issued today by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Nativist Lobby: Three Faces of Intolerance describes how the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and NumbersUSA were founded and funded by John Tanton, a retired Michigan ophthalmologist who operates a racist publishing company and has written that to maintain American culture, "a European-American majority" is required.
"These groups have infiltrated the mainstream by presenting themselves as legitimate commentators, when, in reality, they were all conceived by a man who is convinced that non-white immigrants threaten America," said Mark Potok, director of the SPLC's Intelligence Project. "They have never strayed far from their roots."
The report examines how Tanton, who still sits on FAIR's board of directors, founded the racist Social Contract Press and has corresponded with Holocaust deniers, white nationalist intellectuals and Klan lawyers for decades — correspondence documented by his own writings stored at a University of Michigan library.

It also shows that FAIR has been aware of his views and activities for years.
FAIR, whose members have testified frequently before Congress, has hired as key officials men who also joined white supremacist groups. It has promoted racist conspiracy theories. And it has even accepted more than $1 million from the Pioneer Fund, a racist foundation devoted to proving a connection between race and intelligence, the report found.
FAIR has been designated as a hate group by the SPLC.
The report also examines how the Center for Immigration Studies — which bills itself as a scholarly think tank — began its life as a FAIR program and continues to produce dubious studies furthering FAIR's anti-immigration agenda. It's a vision described by Tanton in a 1985 letter in which he wrote that CIS would produce reports "for later passage to FAIR, the activist organization, to remedy."
Similarly, NumbersUSA, a group that has achieved dramatic policy successes, began its life as a Tanton foundation program, the report found. NumbersUSA Executive Director Roy Beck has even been described by Tanton as his "heir apparent." He also edited The Immigration Invasion, a book by Tanton and a colleague that was so raw in its immigrant bashing that Canadian border authorities have banned it as hate literature.

From the report:
ReplyDeleteFAIR, CIS and NumbersUSA are all part of a network of restrictionist organizations conceived and created by John Tanton, the "puppeteer" of the nativist movement and a man with deep racist roots.
Tanton has for decades been at the heart of the white nationalist scene. He has met with leading white supremacists, promoted anti-Semitic ideas, and associated closely with the leaders of a eugenicist foundation once described by a leading newspaper as a "neo-Nazi organization." He has made a series of racist statements about Latinos and worried that they were outbreeding whites. At one point, he wrote candidly that to maintain American culture, "a European-American majority" is required.
As I have always said:
ReplyDelete"CIS was conceived by Tanton and began life as a program of FAIR. CIS presents itself as a scholarly think tank that produces serious immigration studies meant to serve "the broad national interest." But the reality is that CIS has never found any aspect of immigration that it liked, and it has frequently manipulated data to achieve the results it seeks. "
Yes indeed! These groups are Bad!:
ReplyDelete"Like CIS, NumbersUSA bills itself as an organization that operates on its own and rejects racism completely. In fact, NumbersUSA was for the first five years of its existence a program of U.S. Inc., a foundation run by Tanton to fund numerous nativist groups, and its leader was an employee of that foundation for a decade. He helped edit Tanton's racist journal, The Social Contract, and was personally introduced by Tanton to a leader of the Pioneer Fund. He also edited a book by Tanton and another Tanton employee that was banned by the Canadian border officials as hate literature, and on one occasion spoke to the Council of Conservative Citizens, a hate group which has called blacks "a retrograde species of humanity."
Then, Mark Kirkorian attempts to weakly refute the SPLC by almost saying he doesnt know Tanton. But he doesnt actually say he doesnt know him (which he couldnt since Tanton founded CIS) but instead limply says:
ReplyDelete"...Center for Immigration Studies—as part of a racist conspiracy, supposedly orchestrated by a retired eye doctor in Michigan named John Tanton."
HE NEVER DIRECTLY SAYS SPLC IS WRONG IN WHAT THEY SAID!! He merely side steps the topic and name calls the SPLC.
"I don’t know much about the details in the other sections (on FAIR and Numbers USA) but I can only assume they’re up to the SPLC’s usual standards."
Any logical person would have said:
ReplyDelete1. I dont know Tanton
2. He has no affiliation with these groups
3. He never started them up
4. He never funded them
BUT KRIKORIAN CANT BECAUSE HE DOES NOT WANT TO GO ON RECORD WITH A LIE!
EVERYTHING SPLC SAID WAS TRUE!!
There are many Incredible Books about the Jews in Latin America.
ReplyDeleteFrom the times of Christopher Columbus to our days.
This is a super detective investigation, reading many archives of 1500s, 1600s, 1700x, lots of ancient papers. And studying modern customs, forms of speech, rituals for bathrooms, coffins, prayers, etc ...
This is like a detective story and at the end, the readers of these books get the very strong impression that they are sephardites, the name for Jewish Spaniards.
Sepharad is the Name for Spain in Ancient Hebrew.
I have published posts about the expulsion of Jews from England and France ( many times ), not to mention Spain and Portugal.
Even Germany and Austria have played with Expulsions, Restrictions and Explotaitions of Jews during the reigns of Frederick the Great in Prussia and Maria Theresa in Austria. Maria Theresa expulsed the Jews and later charged for reentry.
So if Many Latin Americans have something of Judaism, Judaismo or JuderÃa, then this is a Karma, that we have to pay to reach the Nirvana.
And there are many guys inside those christened by Dee as Antis that would have been jewels of the Spanish Inquisition, whose main task was to dislodge and disposses the Shepardim or Sephardites.
Shalom !! Shalom !!

So according to you then, it is racist for the Chinese to want to maintain their traditional society of Asians? It is racist for Mexico to want to maintain their traditional society of Hispanics? It is racist for the French to want to maintain their traditional French society, and on and on? It is racist for those countries to object even if a total demographic change were to occur in these countries through illegal immigration? How do you manage to justify your views based on that?
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteNo.
That is what your side says.
My side says we are a multicultural society and we are all allowed to live our lives, our cultures, our believes.
