Yikes!! Nutcase Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann says it is Time for Republicans to "Slit their Wrists!" (How Many Republicans Will Listen to Her??)
Talk about Psycho Talk!!!
CityPages.com reports:
In Rep. Michele Bachmann's latest anti-health care reform rant, she came up with yet another money quote we just couldn't let slip by. Because there is really no better way to fight health care reform than to share blood with others. It's a really good idea, folks. Bachmann spoke to a Denver gathering sponsored by the Independence Institute last night and sure got the crowd pumped up. She claimed the reform proposals "have the strength to destroy this country forever."
"This cannot pass," Bachmann said according to the Colorado Independent report. "What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn't pass."
A Tsunami of Demagogy against Mr Obama - Let's study the History of Demagogy and Demagogues
ReplyDeleteI am appalled by the rising tide of Hate, Fear and Imbecility against an Intelligent and Well Intentioned Man, also a Great President, Mr Obama.
It seems that some people in the United States want to surpass Hugo Chavez of Venezuela for the First Prize in Demagogy and Imbecility.
I went to Wikipedia to study Demagogy or Demagoguery :
Demagogy in Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demagogy
I extracted only a few paragraphs that impacted me :
Demagogy (also demagoguery) (Ancient Greek δημαγωγία, from δῆμος demos "people" and ἄγειν agein "to lead") is a strategy for gaining political power by appealing to the prejudices, emotions, fears and expectations of the public — typically via impassioned rhetoric and propaganda, and often using nationalist, populist or religious themes. The term is mostly pejorative. It was used for the first time by Aristophanes in his satire against the demagogue Cleon
A very famous demagogue was Alcibiades that led Athens to a horrible War in Sicily, the Big Army of Athenians were almost totally exterminated there.
Alcibiades: Convinced the people of Athens to attempt to conquer Sicily during the Peloponnesian War, with disastrous results. He led the Athenian assembly to support making him commander by claiming victory would come easily, appealing to Athenian vanity, and appealing to action and courage over deliberation.
Though this definition emphasizes the use of lying and falsehoods, skilled demagogues often need to use only special emphasis by which an uncritical listener will be led to draw the desired conclusion themselves. Moreover, a demagogue may well believe his or her own arguments (for example, there are good reasons to assume that Adolf Hitler--certainly one of the most successful demagogues in history—sincerely believed his own anti-Jewish diatribes, although it is equally likely that his diatribes against the communists were cynical and he did not really regard them as dangerous as he made them out to be).
A famous usage was by the aging General Erich Ludendorff, who was for a time a strong supporter of the early rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. After learning of Hitler's appointment as Chancellor, he expressed his disappointment to German President General Paul von Hindenburg: "By appointing Hitler Chancellor of the Reich, you have handed over our sacred German Fatherland to one of the greatest demagogues of all time. I prophesy to you this evil man will plunge our Reich into the abyss and will inflict immeasurable woe on our nation. Future generations will curse you in your grave for this action."
Hitler indeed would become regarded as perhaps the epitome of a demagogue, having successfully risen to power through appeals to the ethnic and nationalistic prejudices and vanities of the German people.
The early 20th century American social critic and humorist H. L. Mencken, known for his "definitions" of terms, defined a demagogue as "one who will preach doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots."

Why is Pat Buchanan Defending Hitler?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aaron-keyak/why-is-pat-buchanan-defen_b_275771.html
Some excerpts
Pat Buchanan has a history of insensitivity to issues surrounding the Holocaust. Yet again, with the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II, Buchanan posted a telling column on his own website and on Townhall that seems to blame Poland for World War II.
.........................
UPDATE: MSNBC is currently promoting Buchanan's column on MSNBC.com. This is beyond ridiculous. The National Jewish Democratic Council just issued a statement that says: "This sort of historical revisionism is deplorable. Buchanan's latest column should be removed immediately from MSNBC.com, and no worthy news organization should employ a commentator who engages in such vile fiction."
UPDATE II: Within an hour of our press release, MSNBC has removed Buchanan's column, "Did Hitler Want War," from their website. Here's a response from David A. Harris, NJDC's President: "MSNBC took the responsible action and removed Pat Buchanan's column defending Adolf Hitler from their website, but no worthy news organization should employ and promote a commentator who engages in such vile fiction."
