Guest Voz - C & L: Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Chris Webber blast Arizona's SB 1070 and their own TNT reporter during "Los Suns" Game

This story warms my heart. These famous athletes, Humanitarians all, are speaking out AGAINST Arizona's racial profiling bill. Their humanitarian and realistic concerns remind me of something Chris Rock said a year or so ago. Chris Rock said, "I know they want me to go against the Mexicans but I'm not going to do it. Because I know once they get rid of them all, WE are next!"
Guest Voz C&L.com reports:
Right before game 2 between the Spurs and Suns began, TNT's pregame coverage did a segment on Arizona's misguided SB 1070 law because Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns have voiced their opposition to it. Charles Barkley had already criticized the bill and John McCain before the game yesterday, but we didn't know how the rest of the TNT crew felt. As their reporter, Marty Snider on the ground finished, he made sure to say that the scheduled Al Sharpton protest was going to be peaceful. Kenny Smith thought that was ridiculous.

Snider: It's important to emphasize that this is to be a very peaceful protest. There's plenty of police around the arena...
EJ: What are you shaking your head about?
Smith: I'm not here to get on Marty, but why did he emphasize safe...What's going to happen...is the Mayor going to slap somebody?
Barkley: Al Sharpton's got a jerry curl. He's got a perm... The only people screwing it up are the politicians.
Smith: Without question.
Barkley: The governor, the interim governor I might add. JD Hayworth and John McCain. They're the ones screwing this thing up. I have to really take my hat off to Robert Sarver and his sons for taking a stand. Living in Arizona for a long time,
the Hispanic community are like the fabric of the cloth.
They're part of our community and anytime you try to do any type of racial profiling or racial
discrimination, this is a federal, Obama..we've got to do something because
these little light weight politicians in AZ don't know what they're doing.
Webber: ..they said it a long time ago. By the time I get to Arizona," I'm
not surprised. The didn't even want it to be a MLK day, when John McCain was
in, so, if you follow history you know that this is part of Arizona
politics.

I commend the Phoenix Suns organization and Steve Nash for speaking out and I
also was glad to see that TNT didn't bury it either.

  1. I saw Jay Leno at Correspondent Dinner his best line was; “That was my favorite story (this year) Republicans and a Lesbian bondage club. It’s ironic, Republicans don’t want lesbian getting married but they do like watching them “tie the knot”. So I thought that was interesting.”

You can say the same about Tea Party (they are haters not debaters or as others have dubbed them screamers not dreamers), they say they respect the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence but they do not mind passing laws, through weak Governors (no one voted for this crazy) who only care about getting reelected on the backs of undocumented workers, that will not pass Constitution muster, just like Arizona’s House Bill 2779 from two years ago and your MLK Day ban, keep passing them Arizona and the rest of us will continue to challenged them in a court of law and you will fail again (and yes we will Boycott Arizona). Their phony patriotism is sickening; they are just racists going by another name. We all know you are just itching to put a sheet on their head? Let’s face it the Republicans had eight years to deal with health care, immigration, climate change and financial oversight and governance and they failed. It appears that the Republican Party is only good at starting wars (two in eight years, with fat contracts to friends of Cheney/Bush) but not at winning wars as seen by the continuing line of body bags that keep coming home. The Republicans party will continue turned inward to their old fashion obstructionist party (and their Confederacy appreciation roots) because they continue to allow a small portions (but very loud portion) of their party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” to rule their party. I will admit that this fringe is very good at playing “Follow the Leader” by listening to their dullard leaders, Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush, Savage, Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Blowhards and acting as ill programmed robots (they have already acted against doctors that perform abortions). The Birthers and the Tea party crowd think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey than the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. The world is complicated and people like Hamilton, Lincoln, and Roosevelt believed that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now it’s about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. For a party that gave us Abraham Lincoln, it is tragic that the ranks are filled with too many empty suits and the crazy Birthers who have not learned that the way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked internet lies, then, and only then, do you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called “facts”. Let’s face it no one will take the Birthers seriously until they win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. I heard that Orly Taitz now wants to investigate the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC), she wants to re-establish a family values party, that’s like saying that the Catholic Church cares about the welling being of children in their care, too late for that. Yee Haw!

    deport terrorist citizens
. It should be extended to disloyal or treasonous citizens like those who defend and support illegal aliens.

Cindy and John are based on Arizona and they are great supporters of the Racist Law against Latinos. John McCain abandoned his sick and crippled wife for Heiress Cindy and that lady was the Rocket Booster for his political career.

Any similarity to actual events and persons is only coincidental - Penelope ( first Wife ) and sorceress Circe ( for Cindy ) . Because John McCain lacks all the beautiful qualities of Ulysses Odysseus.

  6. Uh, Vicente? Boycotting Budweiser means not drinking it first my friend.

Looking at Ultimas moronic comment, I imagine he also supports Duncan Hunters bill to strip citizenship from US citizens born to Mexican nationals in this country.

    How pathetic is that?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Porter, I agree with you. I think it is despicable that Ultima suggested stripping PRO Immigration Reformers of their citizenship via Liebermann's ludicrous Joe McCarthy bill. He frequently refers to PRO CIR advocates as being disloyal. This too is ludicrous. We are using our 1st Ammendment rights of voicing our opposition to Racial Profiling and our support of Comprehensive Reform. We are very Patriotic and do not believe in violence (eg: peaceful Boycotts)

However, Ultima and the extreme far right have much more to fear with this bill than PRO CIR citizens. First, let me say I DO NOT AGREE with this bill. But it is more likely that if this bill passes, extremist right wing citizen groups like the militias who are threatening and committing acts of violence against the government and local police would be stripped of their citizenship and thrown into detention. eg: Militia groups that supported Timothy McVeigh and the Hutaree Militia in Michigan

    ReplyDelete
  8. Ultima,
I do not agree with the bill, but if the bill passes, the criteria should look something like this:
. Overthrowing our Government, Violence directed at the government or police.
    Applied posthumously?
    1. Timothy McVeigh
    2. Terry Nichols
    3. Hutaree Militia
    4. Richard Poplawsi
    5. Any militias that advocate government overthrow and violence

    ReplyDelete
  9. The punishment is rescinding citizenship; sent to detention center; no trial; no lawyer.

Is that what you recommend for those who try to overthrow our government and commit violence?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ultima,
I looked up, on Lieberman's website, verbiage about the bill. It DOES include DOMESTIC Terrorists (like the right winger militias)! Read it:

"I looked up information on Lieberman's proposal on his website and it says: Under the Terrorist Expatriation Act, the State Department will now also be able to revoke the citizenship of an American citizen who affiliates with a Foreign Terrorist Organization OR WHO FIGHTS AGAINST OUR COUNTRY."

"OR" is the action word here! DOMESTIC Terrorist will ALSO have their citizenship STRIPPED and Sent to Gitmo IF this bill passes!
