The Justice Department filed suit against Arpaio and the masked goons in his office for their unlawful discrimination and racial profiling against Latinos, and in turn, disregarding their basic constitutional rights.
Here is a summary of FACTs with PROOF contained in the lawsuit about Arpaio's crimes:
Maricopa County Employees Call LATINOS WETBACKS, BITCHES & STUPID MEXICANS
FACT: The DOJ has PROOF that Jail employees frequently refer to Latinos as "wetbacks," "Mexican bitches," and "stupid Mexicans." The DOJ has an email that includes a picture of a Chihahua dressed in swimming gear with the caption "A Rare Photo of a Mexican Navy Seal" was widely distributed by sheriff's office supervisors.
Officers Mistreat Latinos In Routine Traffic Enforcement
FACT: The DOJ has PROOF that a Latina woman who was five-months pregnant and a U.S. citizen was stopped as she pulled into the driveway, and as the charges state: "After she exited her car, the officer then insisted that she sit on the hood of the car. When she was slow to comply, the officer grabbed her arms, pulled them behind her back, and slammed her, pregnant stomach first, into the vehicle three times. He then dragged her to the patrol car and shoved her into the backseat." She was cited for failure to provide identification, which was later changed to failure to provide proof of insurance. The issue was resolved when the woman proved she had insurance to a court.
FACT: In yet another example, two officers followed a Latina U.S. citizen a quarter of a mile to her home without flashing their lights. When she arrived home, they insisted that she stay in the car. The reason for the stop was a "non-functioning license plate light." After she tried to enter her home, officers took her to the ground, kneed her in the back and handcuffed her. She was brought to a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) substation and cited for "disorderly conduct," which was later dismissed.
Latinos Are Indiscriminately Detained In Immigration Raids
FACT: A Latina born in the United States was taken into custody for four hours in a raid to determine her immigration status. The DOJ has PROOF Arpaio was quoted in response, "That's just normal police work. You sometimes take people in for probable cause for questioning and they're released." The suit notes that the reason for her detainment -- being Latina and present during a raid -- were insufficient.
Arpaio & MCSO Staff Foster RACIAL PROFILING Discrimination Against Latinos
FACT: The DOJ has PROOF that Arpaio received a letter reading, "If you have dark skin, then you have dark skin. Unfortunately, that is the look of the Mexican illegals who are here illegally. ... I'm begging you to come over ... and round them all up." The DOJ has PROOF the sheriff labeled this as "intelligence" and forwarded to his deputy chief of enforcement operations for someone to "handle this."
FACT: The DOJ has PROOF that upon receiving a letter backing the policy of "stopping Mexicans (Brown People) to make sure they are legal," Arpaio sent a letter of appreciation to the authors and kept three copies for himself, according to the lawsuit.
FACT: An email circulated among MCSO staff had an image of a fake driver's license from "Mexifornia" and listed the driver's class as "illegal alien."
FACT: MCSO Employees Fail To Provide Assistance To Prisoners With Limited English.
FACT: The failure to provide adequate language assistance caused many female Latina prisoners to remain with sheets or pants soiled from menstruation.
FACT: Many have been put in solitary confinement for "extended periods of time" for not understanding a command in English.
MCSO Arrests Arpaio Critics Expressing Their First Amendment Rights
FACT: The DOJ has PROOF that on multiple occasions people were arrested for merely applauding against Arpaio's immigration policies. The judge presiding over the case of the arrestees found that the deputy who made the arrest "believes it is his role to make uncomfortable anyone who express[es] views that disagree with the sheriff" and that he had "trampled" over the First Amendment. The court acquitted them.
"Goddess Fortune favors those that are audacious and brave", said Hernan Cortes to his few troops that were going to conquer a big almost impossible Aztec Empire. I humbly ask president Obama to follow this example.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama is a Great Man and a Great President, he is also very intelligent and an intellectual. He is the Greatest Political Phenomenon of our lives.
Arizona is difficult but possible. I humbly ask the Democratic Party and President Obama to load and charge Arizona with Traveling, Canvassing, TV Ads, Propaganda, Campaigning, and Obama enthusiasts from neighboring states.
This is an excellent strategy to energize non-Whites and even Whites that consider themselves in danger of being racially profiled. They want a brave and bold President. This will cause great consternation in Republicans and a big Storm, Earthquake or Tsunami in the Media.
I also urge President Obama to campaign against the U. S. Supreme Court in case that they decide against the President in SB 1070, Health Care, Texas Redistricting, etc ...
People love a leader of Audacity, Bravery, Valor, Courage, Action. They despise a tame sheep, a weakling or meek chicken.
This Arizona strategy will energize with Democratic Party Vigor all the SouthWest.
Of course the other strategies for Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, etc ... should continue in full force.
People love those that dream with Great Feats and with the Impossible. But listen, Arizona is not impossible, difficult yes, but not impossible.
Possible or not, like Mexico for Cortes, Arizona is the Strategy for Great Leaders and Politicians. The Greatest Political Adventure for year 2012.
Wake up a Great Giant that is waiting for leadership and inspiration.

Vicente Duque
