Death Reminds Us of our Unalienable Rights to Life (Health), Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

When someone passes away in your family, you are reminded of what is important in life. The truth is, what is most important in our lives -- endowed by our Creator -- is our Family and our Unalienable Rights!
This past week, two people in my family passed away, my cousin who was my age, and my great niece who was only 18 years old.
My cousin Robert (62) had the awful flu that has been torturing people this winter. He waited before going to the doctor. The day Robert decided to go to the doctor, as he was getting dressed, he had a stroke. He died in the ambulance, on the way to the hospital. I spoke with his mother about him. She said this Christmas, Robert had just made amends with his two sons. Both of his sons are in their early 40s. They had been estranged from their father for twelve years, right after his divorce from their mother.
Cousin Robert also called his mom two weeks ago to say he just received a promotion at work and would have more free time to visit her. Robert was a veteran and a businessman. He worked hard all of his life. He was finally going to settle down and focus more time on his family. Instead, he died.
My great niece Alexis (18) was a beautiful girl. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only eleven years old. She and her mother worked closely with her doctors. Early in her diagnosis, she was hospitalized several times. However with diet, exercise and very strict discipline, they thought they had the disease under control.
Alexis was very popular in school and looked like a model. She had long, beautiful hair, very pretty eyes and face, and only weighed about 110 pounds. On Friday night, she was curled up in her pajamas, watching TV and videos at home. Her mom was having dinner with friends. When she came home, Alexis was in a fetal position, very, very cold and in a coma. She called an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital. They worked on her all day Saturday. She died early Saturday evening.
These deaths have been devastating to the family. They were both too young to die and had so many hopes and dreams for the future.
When I think about their lives and deaths it makes me wonder why there are so many arguments in this world. Why are people so angry? Why are people so spoiled? Why can't we just live and let live? Why can't we have Peace? Why can't we treat each other as Equals? Why do we have to have Guns and Assault Weapons? Why can't we take care of our Sick and Elderly? It seems like these truths should be self evident. There should NOT be any racial profiling. There should NOT be any Mass Shootings. We should have Healthcare for All so that the CDC and Pharmaceuticals can focus on ridding our people of these diseases that kill us. This includes not only diabetes and the flu, but also mental illnesses.
Our Country, Our USA was founded on these principles, that We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life(Health), Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness -- these unalienable rights are for All of Us! ALL OF OUR FAMILIES!!
