Hate Groups Using Immigration Rhetoric to Recruit and Brainwash High Schoolers!

It is a short 200 miles from Shenandoah, PA to Patchogue, NY., the sites of the two most recent HATE Crime Murders against Latinos. Numerous HATE Groups polka-dot along the route between the two cities. Along that route is Bethlehem, PA, a mere 60 miles away from Shenandoah, PA.
Bethlehem is the home of the Keystone State Skinheads and the National Socialist Movement (neo-Nazi), two of the largest HATE Groups in the country. Keystone State Skinheads recently changed their name to Keystone United to help sanitize their reputation as they solicit and recruit their main target, young people. Their leader, Douglas Myers, is a long time member of Stormfront and frequently posts under a different name there. Stormfront has seen a huge surge in membership and just after the Obama election, had to close down their site because their server could not handle the load of new viewers.
Since 2000, hate groups have increased by 48%. Most recruitment is completed on-line and focuses on Immigration (legal and illegal) and bashing Latinos as well as other minorities. It is no wonder we are seeing so much increased violence, "Beaner Jumping" and other Latino HATE Crimes, especially in these areas.
Please NOTE: This USAToday article was written on 10-21-08, BEFORE the Marcelo Lucero Hate Crime MURDER and BEFORE the Election of Barack Obama!
usatoday reports:
White supremacists target middle America - 10/21/2008
The white-power movement is changing its marketing strategy to broaden its appeal. The USA's largest neo-Nazi group is ditching its trademark brown Nazi uniform with swastika armband for a more muted look in black fatigues. In Pennsylvania, the Keystone State Skinheads is changing its name to Keystone United to attract members. The nation's largest white-power website, Stormfront, has a new feature that lets members create social-networking pages. The site has had as many as 42,700 unique visitors in a 24-hour period this month, a steady rise since it started in 1995. Supremacist groups are on the rise as they market themselves to middle America, according to leaders of the groups and organizations that monitor them. They are fueled by the debate over illegal immigration and a struggling economy. "Many white supremacist groups are going more mainstream," says Jack Levin, a Northeastern University criminologist who studies hate crime. "They are eliminating the sheets and armbands. … The groups realize if they want to be attractive to middle-class types, they need to look middle-class." Levin estimates fewer than 50,000 people are members of white supremacist groups, but he says their influence is growing with a more sophisticated approach. From 2006 to 2007, the number of such groups rose by 5% to 888, says the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which tracks them through news reports and other sources. The number is up 48% since 2000.
.. "When the economy suffers, people are looking for answers. … We are the answer for white people.
"And now this immigrant thing in the past couple of years has been the biggest boon to us," Schoep says. "The immigration issue is the biggest problem we're facing because it's changing the face of our country. We see stuff in English and Spanish. … They are turning our country into a Third World ghetto."
The National Socialist Movement is the largest neo-Nazi group in the USA, according to the SPLC and the Anti-Defamation League, which works to fight bigotry. The NSM has chapters in 38 states, its website says.
Mark Potok, director of the SPLC's Intelligence Project, says the debate over immigration has led to a rise in hate groups. In Pennsylvania, where the Hispanic population increased by 41% from 2000 through 2007, Keystone United has been busy. Members distribute fliers calling on residents to fight crime they say is committed by illegal immigrants, gangs and drug dealers. In September, members joined a rally against illegal immigration in Shenandoah that was organized after four white teens were arrested in connection with the beating death of a Latino illegal immigrant. "A lot of these small working-class towns are being invaded by different types of people," says Douglas Myers, one of Keystone United's founders. He says the group speaks out for the rights of whites being pushed aside by newcomers.
"It appears they are tapping into and fanning the flames of mainstream America's fear of immigrants," says Ann Van Dyke of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. "They are increasingly using the language of Main Street, things like, 'We want safe communities to raise our children.' "
Douglas Myers (Keystone United Founder) says the group is organizing family-friendly activities, rejecting the violence that made skinheads notorious. For example, they plan gatherings in public libraries. "It's not the footage from the '80s with people burning crosses. It's a very healthy environment," Myers, 26, says.
The renewed activity includes a boom on the Internet, says Don Black, creator of the Stormfront website.
The site has 144,000 registered members. "Many people in this country, even if they were upset with the country's immigration policies, never felt that threatened until now," Black, 55, says. "White people were the majority. That's rapidly changing."
Black says the candidacy of Barack Obama has raised his site's profile. In the past year, members have posted 337 entries on Stormfront related to Obama, ranging from whether an Obama victory will start a revolution among whites to whether the candidate will take away gun rights. Black's son, Derek, 19, was elected to the Palm Beach County, Fla., Republican committee in August. Local Republican leaders are trying to unseat him after learning of his white supremacist ties. Don Black, once a Ku Klux Klan leader in Alabama, says he's encouraged by the enthusiasm he sees. "We see a lot of people coming out of the woodwork," he says.

  1. What I found most interesting in this article is that the HATE Groups ADMIT their participation in stirring up the locals in Shenandoah. Some of my commenters had disputed this fact. Now, the leader of the most racist hate groups in the country acknowledges this fact!!

  2. What about the non-white supremacist hate groups?
The outlook and rhetoric of the White Aryan Resistance and MeCHa are similar. The White Aryan Resistance declares that "We do not recognize a border between White nations" while MEChA declares "We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent." Same rhetoric--only the race is different. Another difference is the fact that while the White Aryan Resistance is deservedly shunned, MEChA is welcomed on tax-supported universities and high schools throughout the Southwest and beyond.
The National Council of La Raza bills itself as a "civil rights" organization. It would be more appropriate to say it disguises itself as such. It camouflages itself as such. It hides its real purpose and true intents as such – with the willing and skillful assistance of many of my media colleagues.

In reality, La Raza is a racist hate group – a band of "Hispanic supremacists," if you will, though it is seldom characterized that way.

It is no more a civil rights group than the Ku Klux Klan is a group promoting the civil rights of white people. It is no more a civil rights group than the neo-Nazi scum who marched a generation ago at Skokie, Ill., with the legal protection of the American Civil Liberties Union, another misnamed organization. It is no more a civil rights group than the Aryan skinheads who victimize Jews and others they detest in trying to lift themselves up from the gutter.

The only real differences between La Raza and the neo-Nazis and the KKK are its wealth, power and level of sophistication.

  3. Rich,
    You are pretty far off.
There are nearly a thousand KKK, White Nationalist, Nazi HATE Groups in the country that are advocating a race war and are wanting to expell all non-white northern europeans from our Great USA.
In the meantime, there may be 1 or 2 very small number of those who actually request a reconquista.

Then you confuse the Mexican American humanitarian group NCLR for a group in these ranks. That is wrong! wrong! Wrong!

The KKK is in FACT a HATE GROUP., as are the NSM neo Nazis, the White Nationalists, supremists, skin heads, and all other like minded groups.

  4. Dee you are kidding yourself. The NCLR is a racist, exclusionary, Hispanic ONLY org. They do not help white people. Racism comes in ALL colors Dee. Quit playing the victim, it get real old!

  5. Tamara,
It is sad that those on your side delude yourselves.
The NCLR is a Humanitarian Group that works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas – assets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.

  6. On the other hand, the KKK, Skinheads, NSM are extremely RACIST, ANGRY organizations that advocate hateful ideology that leads to racist attacks against ALL Minorities.
    You should know this!

I don't see the difference between the above and what you claim as that of NCLR or MeCHA. It's just for a different group of peoples.

  11. Dear ANTIs,

Words have enormous power to wound people. I only have to read the last few posts to know this is true. When I first came on this site, I was felt pretty shocked by the attitudes expressed by the ANTIs towards the undocumented. I used the word "racist" and it seemed to really push people's buttons. Now, I live in rather liberal area of the country, so I wasn't used to hearing these types of attitudes towards undocumented immigrants. Most white people I know are very decent people who go out of their way to help their neighbors. They would never think of directing such vitriol at the anyone, whether they are authorized to be here or not. Most of them realize that the people who come here are among the world's poorest people. They don't have much choice because there is often NO work in their countries. Too often, the choice is literally to come to the United States or starve. So the undocumented come here just to survive and help their families survive. They do the hardest work - literally backbreaking work - for extremely low pay. And they are often scapegoated. They live lonely lives, separated from their families. And they live in constant fear. You can't blame this entirely on the elites in their respective countries, because U.S. policies like NAFTA, are responsible for devastating their economies.
They come because there are white folks who are willing to employ them, and because our country has always relied on a cheap labor pool. Many of my students are undocumented. So I am like a tigress defending her cubs. It hurts me to hear them being referred to in derogatory terms. I also have a boyfriend who was undocumented for many years. He came here from Colombia at the age of six. Colombia is the largest recipient of U.S. military aid in this hemisphere and the third largest in the world, after Israel and Egypt - we have spent over $5 billion so far under Plan Colombia. There are over four million internal refugees in Colombia as a result (U.N. figures). Many of these people will end up here in the United States. We are now doing the same thing with Plan Merida in Mexico. At some point, we need to begin to connect the dots between our policies and the immigration issue. Otherwise, we will never be able to solve this issue.

Now, I love my boyfriend and my students. So I was tempted to get a bit sarcastic at times. I get this from my father (there is a special brand of sarcastic wit that is appreciated by the French, but doesn't go over too well in American culture). I apologize if my words wounded anyone. Please understand that we are not interested in "political correctness" for its own sake. We are asking you to be careful with your words because people are actually being killed, maimed and abused because of all this vitriol that is being stirred up against the undocumented. We all have our own lists of words that wound us. Let's try to refrain from using the words that hurt each other. Let's try to treat all human beings with the respect they deserve. Thank you.

I want to wish you all a very happy and PEACEFUL Thanksgiving.

  12. The following are quotes from Analisa and my responses. “Words have enormous power to wound people.” Indeed they do, as you found out when you started calling everyone a racist.

“Now, I live in rather liberal area of the country, so I wasn't used to hearing these types of attitudes towards undocumented immigrants. Most white people I know are very decent people who go out of their way to help their neighbors.” There is no point in using the euphemism “undocumented immigrants” for what we all know to be illegal aliens. The word immigrants should be reserved for those who come here legally after following all the rules and waiting their turn. The quickest way to incur the ire of many is to “buck the line” and insert oneself ahead of those who have waited so patiently.

“They would never think of directing such vitriol at anyone, whether they are authorized to be here or not.” Actually, that has rarely been the case historically. Almost every ethnic or religious group at one time or another has directed its vitriol against those of other ethnic or religious groups, whether it be the Germans, the Italians, the Irish, the Catholics, the Protestants, the Democrats, the Republicans, the neolibs or the neocons. They have all felt and heard the vitriolic put downs of others. It is the power of the rule of law that has helped to curb some of this vitriol. In places where the rule of law does prevail, one is expected to suffer insults without resorting to violence. Where the rule of law does not prevail, for example, where illegal aliens are tolerated by some and supported by others, violence seems to be inevitable. Of course, the violence itself is also illegal and should not be tolerated. What can you do to restore the respect for the rule of law?

“Most of them realize that the people who come here are among the world's poorest people. They don't have much choice because there is often NO work in their countries. Too often, the choice is literally to come to the United States or starve.” What most of their supporters fail to realize is that the illegals come from countries with failed cultures, failed economies, and failed governments that were unable to create jobs for them in their own countries. Allowing so many illegals to enter this country condemns all of us to the same fate in the long term, joblessness, poverty, disease, crime, oligarchs, and violent gang activity. In effect, when the illegals come here they begin the process of recreating the very conditions they fled their homelands to escape. This not something we or they will like. The supporters of illegal aliens thus know not what they do. Shortsightedness in this regard is endemic in the neolib communities.

    ReplyDelete
  13. “They do the hardest work - literally backbreaking work - for extremely low pay. And they are often scapegoated. They live lonely lives, separated from their families. And they live in constant fear.” No one denies this, however, you overlook that fact that as hard the work is and as low the pay is, it is obviously less so than in their homelands. Moreover, they make up for it to some extent by violating zoning laws and living 11 to a house trailer or 30 to a house. They are lonely but they chose to abandon their families and come here illegally and then when they have children in this country who are instant birthright citizens, they want to use family separation as a valid argument for why they should be allowed to stay. I would consider anyone who chooses to abandon this minor children, regardless, of their citizenship to guilty of child abuse. Would you do that to your child?

  14. “You can't blame this entirely on the elites in their respective countries, because U.S. policies like NAFTA, are responsible for devastating their economies.” At last we have a point of agreement. I have never been in favor of NAFTA or the North American Union.

So I am like a tigress defending her cubs. It hurts me to hear them being referred to in derogatory terms.” We have general agreement that employers should be severely punished for hiring illegal aliens. By doing so, the employers disrespect the law just as much as the illegals do. I advocate strong internal enforcement using E-verification for all employees as the primary tool followed by expeditious repatriation at the employers’ and employees’ expense. I have always been willing to grant some leeway on this for those who have children in school learning English and civics, and who have made every effort to assimilate and learn English themselves.

  16. “At some point, we need to begin to connect the dots between our policies and the immigration issue. Otherwise, we will never be able to solve this issue.” This is but another gross failure of our government. Let’s abrogate NAFTA and return most of the illegals to their homelands with large enough grants to enable them to recover from the adverse effects of this unfortunate legislation.

I get this from my father (there is a special brand of sarcastic wit that is appreciated by the French, but doesn't go over too well in American culture). I apologize if my words wounded anyone.” If you love your boyfriend and your students, then you should be able to understand the different kind of love that we have for our country, its ideals, its language, its culture, its quality of life, its standard of living and that we too must be tigers in defending all of that against all enemies foreign or domestic. In our choice of words, we do not intend to personally derogate any human being. Instead we are merely trying to describe what we see as a significant threat to our country, not by the individual but by the acts or behavior of the many. The mainstream pro-America movement has no interest in provoking anyone to violence. Our families are affected adversely by such violence directly or indirectly. It creates a climate of bullying and intimidation. I believe such terms as anchor baby, chain immigrations, illegal aliens, birthright citizens, etc. are fully legitimate and justifiable terms and that we do not solve any problems by resorting to euphemisms.

After all, whose country is this anyway? Part of that respect of other citizens relates to a recognition of their legitimate and nontrivial concerns for the future of this country. Can’t we treat human beings with respect and still expect them to observe the rule of law? Perhaps this is a good question for your students. Finally, I also confess some harshness in my response to your sarcasm and accusations of racism. For that I apologize in keeping with the holiday season. I am sure you are a bright and accomplished young woman undeserving of my reproach. I would like to think that in a different time we could be friends and could discuss these problems without rancor.

Analisa and I and all the PROs are very patriotic and do love our great USA. We, however, consider the Immigration issues similar to the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s. The civil laws being broken are similar to the Jim Crow laws which Rosa Park and Martin Luther King broke when they refused to sit in the back of the bus or be treated as inferiors. We know the current Immigration process is broken with huge backlogs. We know the history of Immigration into our country and how Business and the Administration have allowed virtually open borders to the south so the workers could help build our nation. As Analisa said, we realize the impact NAFTA, CAFTA and other such trade agreements are negatively impacting the economies of many countries and impact human rights. We also consider the humananity of the current situation. "There but for the grace of God go I...."
On this day of Thanks, we should be grateful for all we have and open our minds and our hearts to the possibility of resolving what has been broken for so long.

As I pointed out previously and as you consistently ignore, there is one major difference: the civil rights struggles of the 60's had to do with citizens. You can't claim any similarity whatsoever because of this difference. One's sympathy for the Blacks of the 60's has nothing to do with the illegal aliens and you know it. You are just desperate for some justification or explanation of your disloyalty. This argument is one of weakest ones you could possibly make. It has no foundation in the Constitution or elsewhere.

If you have some answers, let's discuss them on a rational basis rather than on the basis that the whole world is knocking on our door and you want to let them in.

Why don't you list all the reasons you think we should loosen the immigration quotas and all the facts that support those opinions? Then let your husband review your work to see how much of it he agrees with. The past does not necessarily need to be prologue. Up until the amnesty of 1986, the number of workers admitted or infiltrating our borders was relatively few. Our population hasn't increased 12 fold since 1986 but the illegals have, prompted no doubt by the 1986 amnesty. That some of the history you omitted from consideration.

I agree that business and dumb administrations have contributed to the problem and you just voted for more of the same in Obama who will solve the problem by sweeping it under the carpet for by waving a magic wand that grants amnesty to 12 million more illegals. Guess what, in a few years the number will be 20-30 million more waiting for another amnesty. I guess as long as they are your brethren you don't care. Sooner or later you or your descendants will see the huge error you made in 2008.

You should be working hard with the rest of us to stop this myopic foolishness on the part of business and government. There is a right way to assure that we have an adequate supply of labor without depressing the wages for citizens and without burdening our schools, social services, welfare, and health care systems with millions of illegals and their anchor babies. That is where you should be putting your energy.

Regardless of how long some have been in the pipeline, the fact of the matter is that millions are entering every year through regular or chain immigrations. That is what we need to focus on. I have no problem with a simpler immigration process providing we begin by limiting the number of applications we accept each year to more like the historical level of a few years ago of 200,000 per year. That would give us some possibility of assimilating the new arrivals.

We do not propose to treat illegal aliens as inferiors. We do propose to treat them for what they are, illegal aliens who are at least one half of the tandem that disrespects our immigration laws. There is a difference which you tend to obscure.

The civil rights movement was consistent with the highest ideals of this country, trying to extend that reasoning to illegal aliens will never be a valid argument, at least from my perspective. This is true not because my opinion is better than than of others but because those other opinions have such potential for grave damage to America.

  36. "dee wrote,"You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine."

Of course you are but you need to admit right up front that there is a significant factual difference which makes opinions somewhat irrelevant. That fact is that those involved are illegal aliens, i.e. foreigner rather than citizens. The former would engender support and sympathy from many if they weren't here illegally. Incidentally, a patriot is one who loves his or her country and who zealously guards its welfare. That is also a fact. Anyone who puts the interests of illegally aliens or foreigners ahead of those of his or her fellow citizens can therefore hardly be considered patriotic. He or she is certainly not "zealously guarding the welfare of this country" instead he or she is zealously guarding the welfare of foreigners. Sorry but no cigar. You'll have to find another argument.

  37. It is one thing to oppose hate groups, quite another to favor illegal aliens over one's fellow citizens and trying to cloak it in some totally unrelated event like the civil rights movement which incidentally focused on citizens. If you want to draw a parallel with that movement, you need to shift your focus to citizens.

And HOW DARE YOU accuse ME of not being Patriotic when I am calling for an END to these RACIST HATE CRIMES!!

    Shame on YOU!!

Of course you are but you need to admit right up front that there is a significant factual difference which makes opinions somewhat irrelevant. That fact is that those involved are illegal aliens, i.e. foreigner rather than citizens. The former would engender support and sympathy from many if they weren't here illegally.

  39. Ultima,
You need to get off your one horse dog and pony show and study what is happening NOW! The KKK and NSMs are growing and brainwashing our children into committing these LATINO HATE CRIMES! They MUST BE STOPPED! You might FAVOR these HATE CRIME MURDERING CITIZENS against the innocent Latino victims who may or may not have lapsed papers. I DO NOT FAVOR ANY MURDERERS! I doubt our founding fathers would either!!
