Racist White Supremist and F.A.I.R. member Kris Kobach, author of the heinous Racial Profiling bill sb1070, is in talks with White Nationalist sponsor of the bill, Russell Pearce and wants to make the racial profiling aspects of the bill worse! In a private email obtained by "Think Progress" to Pearce, the evil Kobach says he wants to change the wording in the bill to include swooping down on Latino neighborhoods and attacking anyone who may be working on his car in his own yard.
In his email to Pearce he says, "I discussed all of the changes with Mike Hethmon and he concurred. But there is one additonal point that he suggested which you will certainly agree with. When we drop out "lawful contact" and replace it with "a stop, detention or rest in the enforcement a violation of any title or section of the Arizona code" we need to add "or any county or municipal ordinance." This will allow police to use violations of property codes (ie: cars on block in the yard) or rental codes (too many occupants of a rental accommodation) to initate queries as well." Note: This does not mean you broke the law. It means if police SUSPECT YOU of breaking the law.
So the evil Kobach is not content with Racial Profiling Latinos while driving. He now wants to add language to Racial Profile Latinos while breathing! This means any Latino that may be working on his car in his own yard may be subject to being racially profiled by the police. Imagine. Working on your car in your own garage and the police racial profiling you and demanding your birth certificate and passport! Shades of Apartheid and Nazi Germany!
It is certain when the evil Kobach attempts to enter the pearly gates, he will be provided directions to the heated seventh circle!

MALDEF, ACLU And NILC To Announce Challenge To Arizona Racial Profiling Law At Press Conference In Phoenix
For those waiting to find out about a legal challenge to SB1070, looks like there will be announcement about the next steps to make that happen later today in Phoenix. Civil Rights Leaders Dolores Huerta And Richard Chavez Joined By Famed Musician And Arizona Native Linda Ronstadt To Condemn New Law
PHOENIX – On Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. (MST), MALDEF, the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Arizona and the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) will hold a news conference on the steps of the State Capitol Executive Tower in Phoenix, Arizona to announce that they are preparing to challenge Arizona’s extreme new law, which requires law enforcement to question people about their immigration status during everyday police encounters and criminalizes immigrants for failing to carry their “papers.” The unconstitutional law, the groups say, encourages racial profiling, endangers public safety and betrays American values.
Speakers will include Thomas A. Saenz, MALDEF President and General Counsel; Alessandra Soler Meetze, Executive Director of the ACLU of Arizona; Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America; Richard Chavez, civil rights leader; and Linda Ronstadt, multi-Grammy winning artist and human rights advocate.
Fifteen years ago, MALDEF, ACLU and NILC successfully challenged Proposition 187 in the state of California, where a voter-approved initiative required proof of legal status to access virtually all public services. The enactment of Prop 187, as it was commonly referred to, tore apart schools and communities across the state as fear and suspicion became pervasive, and the state wasted tens of millions of dollars defending a law ultimately struck down as unconstitutional.
One of the lessons I learned from my mentor Richie Perez (RIP) is that struggle must happen on multiple fronts : in the media, on the streets, and in the courts. I look forward to hearing about this arm of the batalla.

BREAKING NEWS: Senate Democrats Bringing Forward Comprehensive Immigration Reform! ANTI CIR Hate Group FAIR responds!
Note: Democratic Leaders will be holding a news conference about this legislation later today.
BREAKING NEWS
American's Voice reports:
Senate Democrats Move Immigration Debate Forward
Proposal Represents a Serious Effort to Solve the Problem, Bring Republicans to the Table
Washington, DC – A new framework for legislation (click to see document) by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) represents an important step forward in the immigration debate. As the controversy over the Draconian, anti-immigrant law in Arizona continues to build, the initiative by Senate Democratic leaders provides a workable path forward for both parties to come together and enact a lasting federal fix to the problem this year. According to Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice:
"The new legislative framework from Senate Democrats looks like a serious and sincere effort to advance a real solution to our broken immigration system. We thank Senators Reid, Schumer, and Menendez for showing leadership on the issue. This is a centrist proposal that draws on the bipartisan negotiations that have been underway this past year. The intent is to bring Republicans into a process that will result in legislation that can be approved in 2010. We hope and expect that fellow Democrats embrace this legislative effort, Republicans come to the table in good faith negotiations, and the White House provides its backing to ensure that immigration reform becomes law this year. While there are some provisions in the proposal that we want to look at further, its positive aspects—from the comprehensive program to register the undocumented and require them to get legal, pay taxes, and study English on their way to becoming full U.S. citizens, to its provisions to reunite families separated by our immigration system—are many. It is a strong proposal that Republicans should take seriously, not dismiss out of hand. As the new immigration law in Arizona – and potential copy-cat legislation in at least seven states – demonstrates, states will take matters into their own hands unless Washington can put aside political gamesmanship and solve the problem at the federal level. And as 80 cities around the country gear up for May 1st rallies and marches calling for immigration reform, it’s clear that the issue will remain front and center around the country."
"For the numerous politicians of both parties who blame the Arizona legislation on federal inaction, now is the time to step up to the plate. Congressional leaders of both parties, as well as the President, know that the only way to end illegal immigration, secure the borders, and prevent future ‘Arizona-type’ laws is to pass comprehensive immigration reform. The Senate Democrats’ proposal is a strong step forward; all eyes are on Senate Republicans and the White House to respond.”

F.A.I.R. (Anti CIR Hate Group) responds:
Senate Leadership Circulates Amnesty Proposal on Capitol Hill
Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Immigration Subcommittee Chair Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair Bob Menendez (D-NJ) began circulating a draft amnesty proposal on Capitol Hill. Multiple media sources now report that Democratic Leadership is “dead set” on pushing amnesty legislation, with or without Republican support. Through our sources, FAIR obtained a copy of the proposal and has already poured through it. Our members, activists, and friends will not be surprised that the Reid-Schumer-Menendez proposal closely mimics the 2007 Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill (S.1639). Specifically, the proposal:
. Grants amnesty to illegal aliens in the U.S. (while calling it a “broad-based registration program”);
. Creates an “H-2C” guest worker program for low-skilled workers (with apparently no cap) that contains a path to citizenship;
. Massively expands legal immigration;
. Incorporates the DREAM Act;
. Incorporates AgJOBS legislation that would grant amnesty to millions of illegal farm workers; and
. Preempts state and local laws encouraging immigration enforcement
In addition, the Reid-Schumer-Menendez proposal offers all kinds of promises regarding the future enforcement of our immigration laws. But we know through years of experience and hard lessons that the federal government has broken virtually every enforcement promise it has made to the American people. Now, Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez go so far as to say: “there will be zero tolerance for illegal entry and reentry into the U.S.” Who can believe this?
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BORDER VIOLENCE IN ARIZONA LIES PERPETUATED BY THE SUPPORTERS OF SB1070
Do you know how much we hear lately about how dangerous Arizona is? According to White Nationalist supported Russell Pearce (sb1070 sponsor) or any of the pundits you see on TV supporting SB1070, Arizona is the crime capital of the world and "Illeegal Gangs are running rampant through the streets." THIS IS A LIE. THEY ARE SAYING THIS TO SCARE PEOPLE AND TO SELL THEIR PERSPECTIVE.
As we all know, the White Supremists have exploited the murder of Good Samaritan rancher Robert Krentz. The police do not know who murdered him. They have no suspects. Local Ranchers have disputed an illegal alien of committing the crime since they never travel alone and investigators found that the perpetrator was alone.

We Endorse Terry Goddard for Governor of Arizona!
Immigration Talk with a Mexican American endorses Terry Goddard for Governor of Arizona. I ask all Humanitarian Americans in Arizona who believe in the Constitution, Civil Liberties and Freedom and are against Racial Profiling and Demonization of Latinos to REGISTER TO VOTE and VOTE for Terry Goddard for Governor! If you are NOT registered today and will be attending the marches this Saturday, there will be a number of booths established that will provide you Voter Registration Forms.
The new poll comes in the aftermath of Brewer's decision to enact a controversial immigration bill into state law making it a crime to be in the country illegally. An excerpt from the poll analysis provided by PPP:
Where Brewer was getting only 59% of the Republican vote in our last poll, she's now at 73%. But Goddard has seen a similar improvement in his own party, improving from 77% of the Democratic vote to 88%. The main reason for the overall tightening is that where Brewer trailed Goddard by 12 points with independents previously, that's now just a 2 point deficit. On the bright side for Brewer, the latest polling data suggests that the Governor's handling of immigration issues has given her a much-needed boost among Republican voters amid a crowded primary race for the GOP nomination for Arizona governor.
Huffington Post Reports:
State Attorney General Terry Goddard (D) leads Republican incumbent Gov. Jan Brewer in Arizona's 2010 gubernatorial election, according to a new survey from Public Policy Polling released on Tuesday. The poll finds Goddard ahead of Brewer 47 percent to 44 percent in what is becoming an increasingly competitive match-up. An earlier poll from several weeks ago found the candidates to be locked in a tight contest, highlighting a dramatic shift in the race since last fall when the Arizona governor held a 10-point lead over her Democratic challenger.Hispanic voters also appear to be flocking to Goddard -- his support among that group has more than doubled since September. Hispanics prefer Goddard over Brewer by a 71 percent to 25 percent margin, according to the poll.

FOLLOW THE MONEY: CCA (Detention Center) Profits at an All Time High!
With the passage of SB1070, Arizona is building new detention centers to jail the hundreds of thousands of "illeegals" they plan on deporting. But they do not want to deport them quickly. Their plan is to let them sit in vermin infested detention centers and rot until their court dates. The court dates take months. Imagine the backlogs in the Detention Centers and the backlogs in the courts; meanwhile private prisons are reaping record profits while they stuff the pockets of their political cronies. Both laugh all the way to the bank...all on the backs of Latino Human Misery!
Business of Detention.com reports:
The math is simple. More demand for immigrant detention beds, plus more government funding, equals more business for Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). Every year since 2003, the company has made record profits. CCA generated its highest revenue ever in 2006 when ICE doubled its detention beds from 19,500 to 27,500.
The company won contracts to provide about half of these new beds.
The company won contracts to provide about half of these new beds.
“We’ve never seen the wind at our back like it is today,” CCA’s President and Chief Executive Officer, John D. Ferguson said after discussing $1.3 billion in revenue during a May 2006 conference call with investors.
The infusion of detention center contracts marked a high point for the company after it had struggled for several years to expand. In 1999, independent auditors expressed doubt that CCA could even stay in business after the company suffered a net loss of $72 million mainly due to an abundance of empty beds. That year, CCA spun off its real estate operations, Prison Realty Trust, from its correctional management services in a failed move that required a bailout from well-connected private equity firm, The Blackstone Group. The firm brought in Lehman Brothers and Bank of America to lend $350 million in exchange for four seats on the company’s board and 25 percent of company stock.

The firm brought in Lehman Brothers and Bank of America to lend $350 million in exchange for four seats on the company’s board and 25 percent of company stock.
Blackstone’s Senior Managing Director, Thomas Saylak, convinced the Wall Street partners that the infusion of capital would allow CCA to “maximize growth prospects. Over time, we believe this new direction will be recognized and rewarded by investors.” The restructuring of CCA’s board led to the departure of one of its founders, Doc Crantz, who was replaced John D. Ferguson as CEO and president. Proceeds from the debt and equity financings included in the deal provided capital to fund the company’s growth. Concerns about federal reliance on private contractors melted away after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The government needed thousands of new detention beds, and it seemed only the private sector could provide them fast enough, especially large prison services providers like CCA with significant inventory on hand.
The biggest change in CCA’s fortune came after Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff complained to Congress that as much as 80 percent of immigrants from countries other than Mexico were failing to show up for deportation hearings. The problem, he argued, was a lack of detention beds to hold them until their hearing. The next year, CCA’s federal revenues increased by 15 percent because of three new ICE contracts at its T. Don Hutto Family Residential Center, its Stewart Detention Center and its Eloy Detention Center.
ICE argues the Hutto detention center has been key to the success of its “catch and remove” policy. Formerly a medium security prison, the 600-bed facility in Taylor, Texas was shut down in 2005 when its population fell to 60 federal inmates. CCA brought it back “online” in May 2006 as a “family residential center” that housed families of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers – fathers, mothers and their young children.
Chertoff argued in March 2006 that “up until now, we have not had the ability to detain families that have come across as a group because we don’t have the capability to keep them together in a detention facility.”

Investors recognized CCA’s inventory of prison beds meant the company was best suited to meet a flood of demand. Over the next few years, CCA’s stock price more than doubled. In 2004, the company’s stock traded at a low of $12.15 and by March 2008 investor confidence had lifted the price to $26.86. “Certainly, the forces of supply and demand are working in the company’s favor,” observed Bank of America analyst T.C. Robillard, who had a buy rating on the CCA stock in February 2007. In fact, each new program to increase immigration enforcement has been a business opportunity for CCA. Today, amid high demand, CCA has been able to charge as much as $200 per day in its contract to hold detainees at its Hutto facility. The average rate at its prisons is $54 per day. Currently, CCA relies on contracts with ICE and the US Marshals Service for about 40 percent of its total revenue.
Five of the company’s lucrative contracts to detain immigrants have no end date. Several of its other contracts contain “take or pay” clauses that guarantee a certain amount of revenue regardless of occupancy rates, as well as periodic rate increases. All of the contracts are renewed at a rate of almost 95 percent, any cost savings CCA reaps are kept for the company, not passed on to the taxpayer. “At the federal level there is such a demand for beds and private operators are able to do it cheaper and build the facility at half the cost of the federal government because they don’t have to go through procurement red tape. And the government tends to go with who they built with before,” said Gregg Klein, a corrections analyst with BNP Paribas.
Now Ferguson has his eye on the next opportunity for a growth spurt in detention beds stemming from a zero tolerance program for immigrants crossing the border, called Operation Streamline. “The intent now is to detain everyone that’s apprehended at the border and charge them initially with something called entry without inspection,” Ferguson explained to investors. “That will be a misdemeanor, requiring somewhere between 15 and 30 days of detention. So then persons with deportation or a minimum conviction, which means someone who is then committed misdemeanor will face a felony charge, which could lead to six months to two years of detention or incarceration.” Later in the call, Ferguson optimistically eyed the President’s fiscal year 2009 budget. “We see that the budget supports the detention population of 33,000 inmate detainee beds – that’s up from 27,500 the previous year and quite above what the President’s original budget was,” Ferguson said. “What I am most encouraged about is everything we are hearing says 33,000 is still not enough.”
In fact, CCA’s confidence in future demand is so great, it’s not worried about an abundance of unused beds and lost profits. The company is already slated to develop 10,700 beds by 2009 in order to meet anticipated demand from federal and state customers. That’s good news for Ferguson, who in 2007 took home close to $3 million in executive compensation
Latino Citizen Deportation is NEXT on the List for Racist Politicians!
RawStory.com reports: Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) wants to deport the U.S.-born CITIZEN children of illegal immigrant (0 - 50 years old), according to a statement he made at a Saturday tea party gathering, the Los Angeles Times reported. After being asked if he would support deporting those children, Hunter said, "it takes more than just walking across the border to become an American citizen - it's what's in our souls."
AUDIENCE MEMBER: Would you support deportation of natural-born American citizens that are the children of illegal aliens?
HUNTER: I would have to, yes. It's a complex issue and ... you could look and say, 'You're a mean guy. That's a mean thing to do. That's not a humanitarian thing to do.' " Hunter added, "We simply cannot afford what we're doing right now. We just can't afford it. California's going under.
Hunter confirmed his comments to the North County Times, adding that he also supports House Resolution 1868, introduced last year but stalled in a House committee. The measure calls for the elimination of automatic citizenship of children born in the United States to illegal immigrants.

SB1070 Update: A Humanitarian Hero Stands Tall and Tells the Truth about SB1070 - It Is Racial Profiling!
A Humanitarian Hero Stands Tall in Arizona and tells the TRUTH about the Racial Profiling Bill SB1070:
CNN Reports: Sheriff Clarence Dupnik
The Pima County, Arizona, sheriff told KGUN9 News in Tucson that state Senate Bill 1070 to deter illegal immigration is a "racist law." He said he has no intention of complying with it.
According to the TV station, Dupnik becomes the first major local law enforcement official to rebel against the bill since Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed it into law Friday.
Dupnik called the law "disgusting" and "unnecessary." He knows he could get sued for failing to comply with the law - a risk, he says he's willing to take.

Guest Voz - ManEegee's Latino Politics: Russell Pearce's Next Target = Racial Profiling Latino Children In School!
Russell Pearce, the Arizona State Senator who authored SB1070, is no-where-near finished with his attempts to "take back his country state by state" from the "invaders". He has another bill pending in the state legislature that would go even further to cause fear and panic in Latino and migrant communities - by pitting schools against the families they serve.
Senate Bill 1097 would create the following mandates on the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and school districts:
1. Requires ADE to collect data on students enrolled in Arizona school districts who cannot demonstrate proof of legal U.S. residence.
2. Requires ADE to annually submit a report to the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate and a furnish a copy to the Secretary of State which includes:
a) summary of the collected data on a district by district basis;
b) research on the adverse impact of the enrollment of students unable to show proof of legal residence;
c) total estimated total cost to Arizona taxpayers for their education; and
d) the total estimated cost to Arizona taxpayers for the education of students who are not U.S. citizens.
3. Authorizes the Superintendent of Public Instruction to withhold a school district’s state aid apportionment for non-compliance with the requirements related to data collection for students who cannot demonstrate proof of legal U.S. residence. AZleg.gov

Got that? This is the next step in Operation Wetback 2010. Pearce's goal is to make the environment in Arizona so toxic for migrant families that they flee.
He has stated this outright:
“My personal background in law enforcement has given me a unique and in-touch perspective with the needs and hazards experienced by rank-and-file police officers and the threats to our citizens. Closing our borders is a must; however it must be coupled with interior enforcement. Attrition by enforcement. I cannot stand by and be a spectator to the death, maiming or damage to another police officer, citizen or taxpayer by an illegal alien because we refuse to enforce our laws and fail to put America and Americans First.” Phoenix Business Journal

As I wrote in a previous post, don't let these conservative pharisees fool you: they love to complain about overcrowded schools and blame "illegals" but they won't do anything constructive to make sure our school systems are fully funded in the first place. They don't believe in government, period.
While the outrage being poured out nationally in response to SB1070 is a good (and much-needed) thing, it's also defense. We have to be proactive and fight these un-American initiatives before they are signed into law by nativist Governors. Please speak out against SB 1097 - our schools should remain safe institutions of learning, not another venue that provides opportunity for an ICE raid.

Guest Voz - Toppermost, an AZ Resident: Conservatives Supporting HB1070 Know It Racial Profiling will occur but JUST DON'T CARE!
I live in Arizona. As you can imagine a liberal like me is something of a novelty here. In fact the only people more liberal than I am are the college students. After many a conversation with the conservatives here about this bill, their overwhelming response to the racial profiling issue is basically: “I don't care.” And its true, they do not. They are aware of what racial profiling is. They are aware of the pernicious effects that it might have on a society with more than one culture in it. But they LITERALLY do not care. And they no longer really even bother to hide it here in Arizona. They are more than willing to pull over America citizens who happen to be dark-skinned in their crusade to get rid of the Mexicans. They are FOR RACIAL PROFILING. It is getting scary here. And its going to continue spread to wherever the Cheney/Palin/Tea Party kind of republican exist.

I’m glad I’ve already seen the Grand Canyon. Because I’m not going back to Arizona as long as it remains a police state, which is what the appalling anti-immigrant bill that Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law last week has turned it into.
What would Arizona’s revered libertarian icon, Barry Goldwater, say about a law that requires the police to demand proof of legal residency from any person with whom they have made “any lawful contact” and about whom they have “reasonable suspicion” that “the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States?” Wasn’t the system of internal passports one of the most distasteful features of life in the Soviet Union and apartheid-era South Africa?
And in case the phrase “lawful contact” makes it appear as if the police are authorized to act only if they observe an undocumented-looking person actually committing a crime, another section strips the statute of even that fig leaf of reassurance. “A person is guilty of trespassing,” the law provides, by being “present on any public or private land in this state” while lacking authorization to be in the United States — a new crime of breathing while undocumented. The intent, according to the State Legislature, is “attrition through enforcement.” read entire article

URGENT BREAKING NEWS: SB1070 Sponsor Said Bill DOES NOT ALLOW "REASONABLE SUSPICION!" HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS IN HIS OWN BILL! (OR HE'S LYING)
URGENT URGENT URGENT BREAKING NEWS:
AZ STATE SENATOR HUPPENTHAL, SPONSOR OF SB1070, SAID THE BILL DOES NOT SUPPORT OFFICERS STOPPING A PERSON FOR "REASONABLE SUSPICION!" HE SAID THAT WOULD BE RACIAL PROFILING!! HE SAID THEY COULD ONLY ASK IMMIGRATION STATUS IF THEY HAVE BEEN STOPPED IN SUSPICION OF COMMITTING ANOTHER CRIME!
LET'S GET HIM ON TAPE AND POST IT ON YOUTUBE!
HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS IN THE BILL HE SPONSORED. IT IS ALL ON HARDBALL.
HARDBALL IS ON AGAIN AT 6:00 CT!
From SB1070:
Enforcement of Immigration Law
· Prohibits officials and agencies of this state or counties, municipalities and political subdivisions from restricting or limiting the enforcement of the federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.
· Requires officials and agencies to reasonably attempt to determine the immigration status of a person involved in a legitimate contact where reasonable suspicion exists regarding the immigration status of the person.
Here is Arpaio's interpretation of SB1070: In a press conference over the weekend, Arpaio said the law -- which requires police to question people about their immigrant status if they suspect they are here illegally -- offers his office "another tool to fight the illegal immigration problem." He added that it "will give us a little more authority" to detain illegal immigrants who aren't accused of other crimes.

SB1070: Citizens share their Racial Profiling Experiences
I can't expect certain people to understand what it's like to be racially profiled. And this is not about the race card, it's reality. I can count numerous occasions when I was profiled and stopped by police for nothing. I never got a ticket out of those occasions, but I was humiliated when I had to lay down in the street at gun point, or I had to keep my hands on the hood of my car while it was searched, and no arrest or citation was issued after the ordeal.
I'm a black, college grad who makes a six-figure income, and has never been in trouble with the law, nor who has ever worn clothing, or drove cars that fit the profile of a gang member, and I'VE BEEN PROFILED when it's supposed to be illegal!!
Now there's a law that gives any crooked cop the green light to profile someone and get away with it??
This is not China. Yes we have an illegal citizens problem. Yes the Feds are not doing their jobs to protect the border, BUT THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM!
Whites who make comments like get over it, or stop playing the race card are being disengenuous about this issue because they don't have to worry about getting stopped by that crooked cop.
Arizona has moved that much closer to a police state. SAD...

"First they came ..." is a famous statement attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.
"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.
THEN THEY CAME for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.
THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.
THEN THEY CAME for me and by that time no one was left to speak up."

SB1070 Racial Profiling: Pictures to Remember! Masked Volunteer Goons! Racial Profiling!

I post them and encourage ALL BLOGGERS to use them, as PROOF of what will happen now that SB1070 has passed. Post the proof on your blogs!
Guest Voz: Axel W. Caballero - "No Brownies Welcome: the Arizona Persecution"
Guest Voz: Axel W. Caballero. (contributor and host of Cuentame)
Huffington Post: Today is a sad day for America. Especially for us Latinos who see this as a major setback in the fight for equality and civil rights. The immigration bill signed into law by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is not one designed to curb illegal immigration, but rather it legalizes racial persecution and institutionalizes discrimination. It represents the first outcome -- of many to come -- pushed and supported by the hateful rhetoric peddled time and again by the Tea Party and many of its followers. Worst of all, there is no longer a disguise or an attempt to hide behind the cloak of an economic argument. It is the latent persecution of those who fail to fit the "American Citizen" model created by the imagination of Teabaggers, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the full array of cronies demanding to take a country back that never belonged exclusively to them.
The signs have been there all along. For the past month, the Latino group Cuéntame has chronicled the racist agenda within the Tea Party and the targeting of our Latino constituency as a whole. Through a series of videos Cuéntame exposed the racial slurs, the violent actions and the hatred only to be dismissed as political hackery. Now the provocation becomes a reality, the threats become politics and the hatred becomes law.
This is what the Tea Party wanted all along. This is what FOX network, its biggest megaphone, had hoped for: A country willing to sacrifice its civil rights for an invisible sense of relief based on a false pretension that the country is or will be white and monolithic.

Just picture what the new law entails? A law enforcement official hears you speaking Spanish or English with an accent, they stop you and ask to see a passport. You might or might not carry it at that moment. You are detained indefinitely, hours - even days. How about if you happen to be walking while brown, I sure know my family does all the time. According to the law, this could possibly well be evidence of being "illegal." Your appearance, your clothes, your language, your location, your activities or anything that may trigger suspicion - regardless of whether it is actually suspicious or not - is grounds for detention. That is called persecution here and especially in China.
This is precisely the main reason why we need a humane and intelligent immigration reform. The longer it takes for Congress to take action, the more of these obscene local and state laws we'll see coming out of the woodwork. There's a leadership vacuum at the federal level on immigration and it needs to be filled by President Obama. In today's America this can no longer happen. Without a doubt the law will eventually be stricken down as unconstitutional, but not before many families are broken and many lives are impacted. This is a direct threat and attack to the Latino community. Latinos we must organize - and show our strengths at the polls. We must tell Gov. Jan Brewer, she is the one no longer welcome. We must tell Sen. McCain he is no longer welcome, and we must tell the AZ state legislature THEY are too no longer welcome.
This is the time for us to mobilize for immigration reform is NOW.

BREAKING NEWS: Since the Cowardly Governor Refused to Stop It, the COURTS Will!!
BREAKING NEWS:
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has announced that he wants the city of Phoenix to challenge the bill in the courts. Organizations such as the Arizona ACLU and MALDEF plan to sue, seeking a federal injunction to stop the law from being enacted, as it normally would be, 90 days following the end of the legislative session.
AZ State Press: Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, tells 12 News she is working on a lawsuit against the bill. Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon tells 12 News the council will consider an item Tuesday to seek an injunction against the bill on constitutional grounds.
----------------------
As Brewer spoke, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Phoenix, the state capital of Arizona, to protest the bill. Hispanic leaders vowed to wage a legal fight.
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon joined the protesters, saying he wants the city to sue.
"The governor clearly knows that her actions not only have split the state, but will now cause severe economic hardship to all our businesses at a time when we can't afford any losses. The executive order isn't worth the paper it's written on," Gordon said. "I'm extremely disappointed at the governor's actions."
Alfredo Gutierrez, a Latino community leader and former state senator, said: "Obviously, this is a very bad thing for the state from our point of view." He predicted acts of civil disobedience and economic consequences for the state as a result.
"This is apartheid for us. This law is influenced by laws of South Africa. It's amazing to me that in 2010, we are dealing with acts of such overt hatred anywhere in this country," Gutierrez said.

Open Letter to President Obama re: HB1070 Racial Profiling Bill
Dear President Obama,
Thank you for speaking out against the Racial Profiling bill HB1070. Unfortunately, Gov. Brewer, anxious to be elected, signed the bill, regardless of the impact on Latinos in Arizona.
While we attempt to look for a bright side by hoping this negative bill will be a trigger to initiate Comprehensive Immigration Reform so you can put in place measures to truly fix our current broken immigration policies, I believe there is something else you can do.
Please ask Janet Napolitano and the FBI to announce to the country their finding in the investigation of Maricopa County's Sheriff Arpaio and his gang of masked volunteer henchmen. I know the FBI has interviewed numerous Latinos who have come forward with details/proof of their racial profiling experience by the sheriff's goons. Please bring forward all the details the FBI's investigation has identified. Showcase this evidence to the country. Please include the over $40 million dollars in civil lawsuits he has incurred in Maricopa County.
There are those, like White Supremist supported state senator Russell Pearce, the man who intiated this racial profiling bill, who want to use arpaio's tactics as a role model. Now is the time to expose the evil sheriff for all of his wrong doings. Bring the facts to the American Public. Let arpaio's example prove "what NOT to do."
We the People implore you, President Obama. Speak for Truth, Justice and the American Way. Keep our Constitution, our Freedoms and our Civil Liberties in tact. Please do not let this Racial Profiling bill hurt any more Latinos in Maricopa County or across the state. We have faith in you that you will do that right thing!
God Bless You,
Dee

Death Threats in Arizona to Latino Dem Congressman from Right Wing Extremist!
Congressman Raul Grijalva, a Latino Congressman from Arizona, has been very vocal about his opposition to the passage of HB1070. He has appeared on several cable news shows including MSNBC and CNN. On MSNBC yesterday he voiced his concerns about racial profiling and the violations of Civil Liberties. Congressman Grijalva said assuredly he and his staff would be racially profiled with his Latino features. Today, an HB1070 supporter called the Congressman's office and threatened to KILL his staff members and the Congressman. He also threatened he will be "exercising his Civil Liberties and I'm shooting Mexicans at the border!"
It appears the Racial Profiling, threats and violence against ANYONE who APPEARS LATINO in Arizona has Begun!! May God have Mercy on us ALL!

CNN Reports:
(CNN) - An unidentified person made two phone calls and threatened to blow up Rep. Raul Grijalva's Tucson, Arizona office and kill his staff members, forcing the Democratic congressman to close his two district offices late Friday morning local time. "It was the same guy," Grijalva's communications director Adam Sarvana told CNN. "He threatened to blow everyone's brains out in the Tucson office."
Grijalva arrived in his district from Washington Thursday night and was in the office at the time the second call came through. The caller also said he was going to be "exercising my civil liberties and I'm shooting Mexicans at the border," according to Ruben Reyes, Grijalva's district director, who fielded one of the calls. Reyes said tensions are running high in the state as a Saturday deadline nears for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to decide to either sign or veto a controversial immigration bill that would require police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally. Grijalva urged Brewer to veto the legislation. Sgt. Fabian Pacheco of the Tucson police department told CNN that the department was cooperating with federal and state authorities.
"We have some promising leads," he said, noting that the calls were made from a cell phone with a Phoenix area code. Sarvana said both offices, in Tucson and Yuma, Arizona, would reopen on Monday morning.
Grijalva staffer Ruben Reyes said the office has been flooded with calls all week about Senate Bill 1070. About 25 percent are "very racist" in nature, Reyes said, characterizing some as "telling that tortilla-eating wetback to go back to Mexico."

ALERT: Gov. Brewer sets 3:30 p.m. CT news conference on immigration measure
BREAKING NEWS:
PHOENIX - Gov. Jan Brewer scheduled a 1:30 p.m. (3:30 CT, 4:30 ET) press conference at a state-owned auditorium about a mile from the Capitol. The location not only provide space for the local and national media interested in the issue but also provides some separation from the approximately 2,000 people who have gathered in the mall between the House and Senate.
Most of them appear to be high school or college students.
Hispanic community leader Elias Bermudez said he is urging calm no matter what the governor does.
There is a lot of political pressure on Brewer to sign the controversial measure which would give police new powers to stop and arrest illegal immigrants.
All three of her Republican foes in the gubernatorial primary are on record urging a signature. And virtually all Republicans in the Legislature voted for the legislation.
If she does, a lawsuit is a virtual certainty, with groups ranging from the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund to the American Civil Liberties Union promising to challenge the measure.
The most controversial part of the measure could amount to a requirement to carry identification or risk being detained, at least temporarily. It says that when police officers make an official contact with anyone, a "reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person.''
Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, said the language does not give officers absolute authority to stop anyone. He pointed to language saying that the must be "reasonable suspicion'' that the person is in this country illegally.
The law prohibits race or ethnicity from being the sole factor in reaching that conclusion. But it permits those being used as one factor.
Pearce, the architect of the measure, said that is justified because virtually all of the illegal immigrants in this state are from Mexico or points south.
The measure also makes it illegal for cities to have any policy that prohibits its police officers from enforcing federal immigration laws.
Other provisions include:
- Making it a state crime to be in this country in violation of federal immigration laws;
- Allowing people to be charged with harboring or transporting illegal immigrants;
- Letting police arrest those who stop in traffic to pick up day laborers.
There also have been calls for businesses to boycott the state if Brewer signs the legislation

Arizona Governor Brewer: Do We Sit Still For Racial Profiling OR Will We Tell Our Children "We Just Didn't Know?"
People often ask me why I write my blog. I respond, "I write my blog because I love my USA, I am a Christian and I am a Humanitarian. This is my cause." I don't profit from my blog. I never will. I write my blog because "there but for the grace of God go I." I am a humanitarian. What if my Dad's grandfather didn't decide upon moving to Texas 200 years ago? What if he had stayed in Mexico. What if my family didn't decide to move until now...when immigration policies were broken yet wanted their children to have a better life?
(skip forward 200 years to the time my future husband and I met and fell in love..two liberals, loving life, loving each other, loving America...hard working, starry eyed optimists.)
I remember when my husband and I were dating. It was the early 1970s. My husband and I were in our early twenties. After work, we frequented a bar owned by a blond, blue-eyed German Immigrant. Randy, the bar owner, was twenty years older than we were. He was born in Nazi Germany. He immigrated to the U.S. after the war. We later found out he was a member of the "German Youth."
My (future) husband asked him, as a friend, as someone he knew was friends to all cultures, how could HE be a member of the Hitler Youth and support such racist policies. Randy responded, "We didn't realize what was happening. We thought he was just improving our economy and our status in the world. We didn't know about the concentration camps."
I think about his words when I think about what is happening in the U.S. today, with all the racial profiling and the demonization and scape-goating of ALL Latinos. Are we ALL so blind that we fail to see what is happening in Arizona? Do we fail to see the racial profiling actions of sheriff arpaio and his masked goons? (this is an actual picture on the right) Do we fail to see what happened in Patchogue, N.Y. when the Caucasian Crew went "Beaner Stomping" EVERY WEEK after school?
This reminds me of the World War 2 days with the forced relocation and internment by the US Govt in 1942 of 110,000 Japanese Americans along the Pacific Coast. There was no rhyme or reason to it. It was based on the roller coaster steam of the ANTI Asian sentiment at the time after Pearl Harbor. The end result was a racist interment of one race of people primarily on the West Coast.
Now we see the same thing happening by the racist state senate of Arizona.
My question to all readers: Are we the people of America, going to allow these racist activities, racial profiling, to occur in all Latino neighborhoods in Arizona by masked volunteer goons? If we do allow this to happen, what will we tell our children? Or will we be like Randy and will we respond and say "we just didn't know."

White Supremist supporter Pearce EXPLOITS Good Samaritan's Untimely Death for their Racial Profiling, Anti-Immigrant Agenda!
Russell Pearce, Arpaio and other like minded, white supremist supported extremists are promoting the death of rancher Robert Krentz as the reason their xenophobic and restrictionist laws should be passed. This is an aberration.
Let me tell you the story of Robert Krentz. Rancher Krentz was known among fellow ranchers as a good Samaritan who often helped injured illegal immigrants trying to cross the boiling desert border into Arizona. He was a churchgoing man who routinely went out of his way to help those in need. He said, " if they come in and ask for water, I'll still give them water," he said. "I -- you know, that's just my nature."
Rancher Krentz owned a ranch about 35 miles outside of the Mexico Border town of Douglas, Arizona. His family has been ranching in southern Arizona since 1907.
On Saturday, March 27, 2010, while tending to his ranch, he was shot and killed. Police have not made any arrests and they do not have any suspects.
That Saturday morning, Krentz radioed his brother Phil between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. He said he encountered an illegal immigrant, and was supposed to meet Phil on the ranch at noon. Hours later, when Krentz didn't show up, Phil called police, and a search team was soon scouring the sprawling desert 15 miles north of the border, near Douglas, Ariz. At around 11 p.m. that night, over 12 and a half hours after the morning call, a state police helicopter found Krentz slumped over his ATV, the engine and lights still on. Nearby, his dog lay critically wounded, also hit by a bullet. The dog died the next day. The police, utilizing tracker dogs, discovered footprints which trailed 15 miles southward, into Mexico.
The police have arrested no suspects and have no idea who committed the crime. They do have some potential scenarios which include:
1. Drug Cartel Scout: The Chirachua mountains in southeast Arizona are 11,000 feet tall, rugged and remote. It is a popular drug corridor and the killer may have been clearing the way for a load of drugs moving north when Krentz surprised him.
2. Suspect belonged to a Band of Thieves: A band of thieves have been terrorizing the remote ranches spattered around the Douglas area. Not only is this a Police scenario, this is a scenario supported by other ranchers. Rancher Krentz was shot with a 9mm Glock. Coincidentally, a 9mm Glock was stolen from a home in Portal just a few miles away," said rancher Roger Barnett. "There is no way to know for sure it was the murder weapon. But the bullet that killed Rob and his dog was a 9mm."
3. Retaliation: The day before the killing, Krentz's brother Phil stopped a caravan of illegal immigrants carrying 280 pounds of marijuana. All eight were arrested by the border patrol and the pot was impounded.
These potential scenarios are all GUESSES by the police and local ranchers. They actually have NO IDEA who shot Rancher Krentz. The odd part, according to local land owners, is that the killer was apparently alone. Illegal immigrants crossing the border usually hire coyotes to help them pass and travel in groups or 5, 10, 20 or more. They NEVER cross alone.
None of these FACTS deter the xenophobes like Russell Pearce, Arpaio or J.D. Hayworth who are pushing the ANTI Immigrant, ANTI Latino agenda. They exploit Rancher Krentz's sad and untimely death for their own political purposes and to push their own xenophobic agenda. For them to do this totally denigrates Good Samaritan Krentz's image. He was known as a Humanitarian and died an untimely and sad death. For the xenophobes and white supremist supporters to use his name and his death for their unscrupulous purposes is WRONG! They PRETEND to support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights but yet they rush to judgement, accuse an ENTIRE RACE of being GUILTY of this crime, and Rush to Judgement by imposing unconstitutional Racially Profiling Laws all in pursuit of their own xenophobic agenda.
The TRUTH IS, the Police and local Law Enforcement DO NOT KNOW who murdered Rancher Krentz. All we know is he called his brother at 10:30 am on that Saturday morning, and was not found until 11pm that night. He was shot and killed by a 9mm Glock. The police found footprints who they suspect might be the perpetrator, leading into Mexico. Was it the murderer? Was he part of the group committing robberies in the area? Was he an illegal immigrant? Police suspect a lone person. If it was a lone person, then that lone person is the perpetrator, NOT all Latinos and NOT ALL undocumented people in the U.S.
ANTIs should follow their own advice. Don't Rush to Judgement. Let the police do their job. Find the perp. Charge him. He and he alone is Innocent until proven guilty. If found guilty, he will serve his time. DO NOT exploit this man's death for your own Racial Profiling agenda!

Illegal Immigrant Suspected in Murder of Arizona Rancher
White Supremists Rule Arizona State Government! Birthers and Racial Profilers have GONE BERSERK!!
Brown Skinned people beware! Do Not Venture into the State of Arizona! Arizona is instituting "OPERATION WETBACK" all over again! All Americans who are against social injustice, against Racial Profiling, against a Government Take-over should invoke a National Boycott against Arizona. Shout this out near and far, from east to west, north to south! Contact your business owners, organizations and all who conduct Meetings, Gatherings and Vacations. BOYCOTT ARIZONA!
The state has GONE BERSERK! The AZ State Senate, lead by White Nationalist supporter, Ole Boy State Senator Russell Pearce, are passing two RACIST Bills:
1. Racial Profiling Bill: AZ has passed an ANTI Immigrant bill allowing trained Gestapo (aka: arpaio's masked henchmen -- see picture on right) to stop any/all Brown People, WITH NO CAUSE, and demand their citizenship status. A driver's license is NOT good enough. They require PROOF of Citizenship until they are satisfied you are a citizen. Otherwise they will take you into custody until you PROVE, to their satisfaction, you are a citizen. This may require your Birth Certificate, social security card, and any other documentation until the arresting officer is convinced of your citizenship status. If you are brown skinned and have an accent, BEWARE!! Most assuredly, you WILL BE DETAINED!
Note: I just heard both sides' argument on MSNBC:
PRO: The law promotes Racial Profiling. It's unconstitutional. It violates Civil Rights. I'm against a government take-over.
ANTI: It is better to Racially Profile all Latinos than to let the Border Violence continue. Are you against law and order? Do you support Border Violence? Are you against Drug Cartels? (mentions ranch owner murder -- see next post which I will detail out and refute their lame argument)
2. AZ Birther Bill: Ole Boy Pearce also pushed through a Birther Bill. The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state's ballot when he runs for reelection. The House voted 31-22 to add the provision to a separate bill. The measure still faces a formal vote. Even if they pass this bill, it violates the Constitution. They cannot keep a seating President OFF OF THEIR 2012 Presidential Ballots. I thought these Birther, Tea Party types supported the Constitution. Shades of goony Orly Taitz! The AZ legislature would be a laughing stock if these ridiculous Bills they are passing weren't so demonistic! Has someone been putting LSD in their drinking water? If it passes, they will waste millions of dollars supporting this bogus bill in court, all for naught. It is unconstitutional and NO COURT IN THE LAND will uphold this bill! Their State Senate is racist and insane!
To all my Viewers:
Act Now! Shout it from the rooftops!
BOYCOTT ARIZONA! BOYCOTT ARIZONA!! BOYCOTT ARIZONA!!!
Message to our President: You need to step in here and stop Arizona's "Operation Wetback." We the People of America will not stand for this violation of the Constitution and of our Civil Liberties!
