Last week, King claimed that the majority of Dreamers -- are actively engaged in the drug trade.
"For everyone who's a valedictorian," King claimed, "there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert. Those people would be legalized with the same act."

Anti-Latino Republicans in the House unanimously voted to END the Dream Policy -- the policy which allows Dreamers -- young, undocumented immigrants and other people deemed low-priority -- to stay in the U.S.

Far Right Wing, Tea Party extremist, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), was responsible for drafting this amendment and adding it to the Department of Homeland Security spending bill. Democrats on the House floor reacted with boos when this amendment was added to the bill.

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said in a statement that the vote prohibits the administration “from implementing executive amnesty” without congressional action. "My amendment blocks many of the provisions that are mirrored in the Senate’s ‘Gang of Eight’ bill. If this position holds, no amnesty will reach the President’s desk,” he said.

Regardless of these heinous Republican efforts, Senate Democrats will NOT allow their "Deport Dreamers" amendment to pass. Additionally, our President's spokesman has already said he would NEVER sign it if it reaches his desk.

United We Dream, an advocacy group of young undocumented immigrants, said in a statement that the amendment is "an outrage and the exact opposite of what our country needs from its political leaders." "Does Speaker [John] Boehner want to follow Rep. Steve King’s lead and seal his party’s fate as an out-of-touch, extremist party that has forever marginalized the immigrant and Latino community?" the group continued. "Or will the House take a new direction and pass immigration reform that not only stops the deportations of DREAMers and our families but also creates a clear path to citizenship? It’s up to them. DREAMers will not let politicians get away with this."

WASHINGTON -- Racist Teaparty Republican Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said Thursday "diversity has never been America's strong suit, so lawmakers should pass his ENGLISH ONLY bill in the name of unifying the nation."
The racist said: "One of the great things about America is we've been unified by a common language. That common language, of course, is English. Our language is getting subdivided by some forces of the federal government. It is time to speak ENGLISH ONLY."
Nutcase King talked to reporters just after the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution held a hearing on his measure, which would require all federal government communications, including voter and ballot materials, to be conducted in ENGLISH ONLY. His proposal would also nullify a Clinton-era requirement that federal agencies provide interpreters for non-English speakers for certain activities.
King said he is not a racist. King's view of a NON DIVERSE SOCIETY in his bill is aimed at "bringing the country together. After all, diversity has never been America's strong point."
"The argument that diversity is our strength has really never been backed up by logic," nutcase King said. "It's unity is where our strength is. Our Founding Fathers understood that. Modern-day multiculturalists are defying that."
During the committee hearing, Democrats said King's bill violates the Constitution and impedes voting rights. "Having already spent an extraordinary amount of committee time and resources in an effort to roll back the civil rights of women, persons with disabilities, gay and lesbian Americans and other minorities, our majority colleagues are now using the last day before the House adjourns until September to highlight a bill that would place at risk the 24.5 million people in the United States who need language assistance from their government in some situations," said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.).
Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) gave his opening remarks entirely in Spanish -- with imperfect pronunciation to make the point that our country has always been a multilingual one.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) isn’t wasting any time with his immigration agenda, dropping a bill on the first day of Congress that goes after birthright citizenship. King’s measure would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act, ending automatic citizenship for anyone born in the country. Instead, the measure requires that only the children of citizens, legal immigrants permanently living in the country or immigrants in the military, be granted citizenship.

Republicans grabbed headlines last summer after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) criticized the longstanding law, saying it encourages pregnant women to come to the country to have children so they can eventually become citizens themselves. Though others have called for changing the 14th Amendment, King said that ending birthright citizenship through statute makes sense because it’s easier to do.

“We need to address anchor babies,” he told POLITICO Wednesday. “This isn’t what our founding fathers intended.” Immigration legislation isn’t high on the list of priorities for House GOP leaders. At least five other members – Reps. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), Gary Miller (R-Calif.), Rob Woodall (R-Ga.), Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) – are co-sponsoring King’s measure.

Iowa's Rep Steve King Endorses the Deplorable Postville ICE Raids!

In a December 2008 op-ed in the Des Moines Register, Rep Steve King praised the immigration raid in Postville, calling it a "step in the right direction." King also likened the immigrants to livestock.

Many of my long time readers will remember the numerous articles I posted following the events of Postville's despicable and inhumane ICE Raids where human beings were abused and treated like cattle. These raids, which occurred during George Bush's Republican administration, were intended as a pilot operation to serve as a model for future raids. They were also meant to instill fear among the Latino Immigrant communities.

ICE leaders who testified before Congress said these raids were humane. They LIED. A Video report has been released which documents statements from the local residents of Postville and many of the ICE mistreated workers. As one Postville resident said, "All they wanted was a better life. And instead, all we have left in Postville is DEVASTATION and FEAR!"

Profile - Rep Steve King: Named NEW Chairman Immigration Sub-Committee

Loony Tunes right wing extremist Rep. Steve King has been named the Chairman of the Immigration sub-committee. I find it very troubling that Republicans have already named this person the head of the powerful Immigration sub-committee, especially considering his long history of very racist and controversial statements. King is not one to shy away from controversy. He hates the President and he hates Latinos -- at least that is what his controversial statements indicate.

King is also aggressive. Though newly named to this Chairmanship, he has already given an interview to CBS News saying he is “looking at dropping a bill early in the 112th Congress” to change the 14th Amendment (Jus Soli). King was quick to state he is proposing this bill specifically targetting those whose parents come here from South of the Border. He said he expected hearings “in the next couple months” after the legislation is introduced. I wouldn't be surprised if his intent is to make this law retroactive!
After this proposal to change the 14th Amendment, given his history, we can expect King to introduce bills which support Mass Deportation, national immigration laws which resemble racial profiling bill sb1070, "Official English" bills which support ending the printing of all government documents in any language other than English, and the end to government interpreters. He may even extend these laws into the workplace.

The Republicans move to put King in this very high profile position sends a very clear signal. They care NOTHING about the Latino Vote or the Minority Vote. Given this aggressive and negative stand by the Republicans, the racist ANTI Latino thugs will surely feel empowered. NumbersUSA and other Hate Groups (as identified by the ADL) strongly support Rep King. In fact they have scored him A+ on their Immigration Report (Hate) Card. On Nov. 11, after his Republican appointment to Chair the Immigration sub-committee, King even hosted an ANTI Latino Immigration forum which feature Roy Beck from Numbers USA and other Hate group members. They used this forum to begin developing their ANTI Latino Immigration Agenda for 2011. Message to Fellow Latinos and Humanitarians: Republican Congress Planning ANTI Latino / Racial Profiling Bills in 2011!

Fellow Latinos and Humanitarians,
We may be upset by the Dream Act not passing and no movement with Comprehensive Immigration Reform, but if even half of the rhetoric I've been reading on the ANTI blogs comes to fruition, we are in for very tough times in 2011. The ANTI blogs are giddy with anticipation as their Tea Party Republican thugs are taking over the reins of Congress. These ANTI-Latino zealots are rubbing their hands together, making plans to propose racial profiling bills that make Arizona's racial profiling sb1070 look like a "tea party."
What bills are they planning on proposing in 2011?
1. Changing the 14th Amendment, ending Birthright Citizenship
2. Mandatory e-Verify
3. Official English
4. End to Sanctuary Cities
If you look at each of these proposed bills, something immediately jumps out at you. Each will blatantly and outrightly racially profile Latinos. It will be a witchhunt. Bad times for Latinos are clearly in the forecast ahead, especially with extreme right wing Tea Party Republicans like Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, who will chair the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Steve King of Iowa, who is expected to chair the committee's immigration subcommittee, leading the charge!

The end of the year means a turnover of House control from Democratic to Republican and, with it, Congress' approach to immigration. In a matter of weeks, Congress will go from trying to help young, illegal immigrants become legal to debating whether children born to parents who are in the country illegally should continue to enjoy automatic U.S. citizenship. Such a hardened approach -- and the rhetoric certain to accompany it -- should resonate with the GOP faithful who helped swing the House in Republicans' favor. But it also could further hurt the GOP in its endeavor to grab a large enough share of the growing Latino vote to win the White House and the Senate majority in 2012.

Legislation to test interpretations of the 14th Amendment as granting citizenship to children of illegal immigrants will emerge early next session. That is likely to be followed by attempts to force employers to use a still-developing web system, dubbed E-Verify, to check that all of their employees are in the U.S. legally. There could be proposed curbs on federal spending in (Sanctuary) cities that don't do enough to identify people who are in the country illegally and attempts to reduce the numbers of legal immigrants. Democrats ended the year failing for a second time to win passage of the Dream Act, which would have given hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants a chance at legal status.

House Republicans will try to fill the immigration reform vacuum left by Democrats with legislation designed to send illegal immigrants packing and deter others from trying to come to the U.S. Democrats, who will still control the Senate, will be playing defense against harsh immigration enforcement measures, mindful of their need to keep on good footing with Hispanic voters. But a slimmer majority and an eye on 2012 may prevent Senate Democrats from bringing to the floor any sweeping immigration bill, or even a limited one that hints at providing legal status to people in the country illegally.

President Barack Obama could be a wild card. He'll have at his disposal his veto power should a bill denying citizenship to children of illegal immigrants make it to his desk. But Obama also has made cracking down on employers a key part of his administration's immigration enforcement tactics.

Hispanic voters and their allies will look for Obama to broker a deal on immigration as he did on tax cuts and health care. After the Dream Act failed in the Senate this month, Obama said his administration would not give up on the measure. "At a minimum we should be able to get Dream done. So I'm going to go back at it," he said.
The president has taken heavy hits in Spanish-language and ethnic media for failing to keep his promise to address immigration promptly and taking it off the agenda last summer. His administration's continued deportations of immigrants -- a record 393,000 in the 2010 fiscal year -- have also made tenuous his relationship with Hispanic voters.

John Morton, who oversees Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in a recent conference call that there are no plans to change the agency's enforcement tactics, which are focused on immigrants who commit crimes but also have led to detaining and deporting many immigrants who have not committed crimes. The agency also will continue to expand Secure Communities, the program that allows immigration officials to check fingerprints of all people booked into jail to see if they are in the country illegally. Both illegal immigrants and residents can end up being deported under the program, which the Homeland Security Department hopes to expand nationwide by 2013.

Many of those attending a recent gathering of conservative Hispanics in Washington warned that another round of tough laws surrounded by ugly anti-immigrant discussions could doom the GOP's 2012 chances. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a possible 2012 candidate, cited Meg Whitman's failed gubernatorial bid in California despite her high spending. When 22 percent of the electorate is Latino, candidates can't win without a vigorous presence in the Hispanic community and a "message that is understandable and involves respect," Gingrich said. Even so, Gingrich was unwilling to call on his fellow Republican senators to drop their opposition to the Dream Act, saying the legislation should not have been considered without giving lawmakers a chance to amend it.

The next Congress will be populated with many newcomers elected on a platform of tougher immigration enforcement. They'll have ready ears in Republican Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, who will chair the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Steve King of Iowa, who is expected to chair the committee's immigration subcommittee. That's a recipe for more measures aimed at immigration enforcement, including requiring businesses to use E-Verify rather than eyeballing paper documents to check workers' citizenship and legal residency status.

"I've already told the business community it's going to happen," said Beto Cardenas, executive counsel to Americans for Immigration Reform, a coalition of business leaders who support overhauling immigration laws. Changes to immigration law contained in appropriations and authorization bills, where immigration enforcement hawks are likely to tuck some measures, would also be tough to reject. But more controversial measures such as attempts to deny citizenship to children of people who are in the U.S. without permission could be tempered by GOP leaders aware of the need to curry more favor with Hispanic voters.

Steve King (R-Iowa), fresh off of a massive GOP victory earlier this month that is looking likely to make him a key pilot of the next Congress's immigration policy as likely chairman of a House subcommittee on immigration, recently explained how he plans to take on his bête noire, birthright citizenship.

Here's what (Racist) King opined to the Des Moines Cityview about his (intended) plans to repeal a clause in the 14th Amendment that overturned the landmark Dred Scott case and promised American citizenship to freed slaves: "The framers did not consider the babies of illegals when they framed the 14th amendment because we didn't have immigration law at the time so they could not have wanted to confer automatic citizenship on the babies of people who were unlawfully in the United States," King said. King wants Congress to pass a ban on "anchor babies," place it in statute, and wait for the other side to challenge the prohibition in the courts. Such plans (BY KING) signify a willingness to embark on the incredibly onerous task of amending the Constitution, a process that would require ratification by two-thirds of Congress and three-fourths of state legislatures. But according to the Cityview, King believes that the issue warrants such an effort.

King opined that the framers of the amendment intended to include exceptions in the its wording, "including [of] certain Indian tribes and babies born to ambassadors or visitors." That's why they included the phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof," said King, who recently appeared to argue that undocumented immigrants were simply not subject to U.S. law. King won't be alone in the venture, as some have predicted that the Republican-controlled Congress -- which has representatives on both sides of the debate -- will attempt to tackle the contentious issue as soon as it convenes in January.

Senate GOPers have been also been outspoken about opening the 14th Amendment to review. Senators Kyl (Ariz.), Graham (S.C), Coburn (Okla.), Grassley (Iowa) and McConnell (Ky.), among the most powerful Republicans in the chamber, have all come out against birthright citizenship. On the state level, legislators in at least 13 states have begun drafting legislation that would seek to remove birthright citizenship guarantees from their specific laws.

Political Correctness.org reports: Last night, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) took to the House floor to defend Arizona's new anti-immigration law against concerns that it will lead to racial profiling. During his speech, the Iowa congressman reiterated his belief that racial profiling is an "important component" of law enforcement, as long as it's not used "for the reasons of discriminating against people." Then, he told a story about how he was profiled by a taxi driver who suspected that he needed a ride, saying that Arizona officers can also target illegal immigrants using other factors — like "what kind of shoes people wear" and "a sixth sense."

KING: Some claim that the Arizona law will bring about racial discrimination profiling. First let me say, Mr. Speaker, that
profiling has always been an important component of legitimate law enforcement.
If you can't profile someone, you can't use those common sense indicators that are before your very eyes. Now, I think it's wrong to use racial profiling for the reasons of discriminating against people, but it's not wrong to use race or other indicators for the sake of identifying that are violating the law. [...]
It's just a common sense thing. Law enforcement needs to use common sense indicators. Those common sense indicators are all kinds of things, from what kind of clothes people wear - my suit in my case - what kind of shoes people wear, what kind of accident [sic] they have, um, the, the type of grooming they might have, there're, there're all kinds of indicators there and sometimes it's just a sixth sense and they can't put their finger on it. But these law enforcement officers, if they were going to be discriminating against people on the sole basis of race, singling people out, that'd be going on already.
