The GOP’s vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has said repeatedly that he has never asked for stimulus funds, but recent reports indicate he LIED! He has written letters on behalf of local businesses seeking them.
The Boston Globe reported Tuesday that Ryan had sought stimulus funds for local energy conservation groups from the Department of Energy in late 2009, and a 2010 Wall Street Journal report indicated he sought funds for another local group from the Labor Department.

This afternoon, CNN brought on Planned Parenthood's Judy Tabar to discuss his comment. During the interview, CNN anchor Don Lemon relayed a statement from Kyl's office walking back the comment, claiming the statement was not meant to be "factual": LEMON: We did call his office trying to ask what he was talking about there. And I just want to give it you verbatim here. It says, 'Kyl's remark was not intended to be a factual statement, but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, a organization that receives millions of dollars in taxpayer funding, does subsidize abortions.' CNN Reports: A labor union representing nearly 20,000 border patrol agents and staff Friday disputed comments made by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer that most illegal immigrants coming across the southern border are smuggling drugs. Brewer initially made the comments earlier this month during a debate of Republican gubernatorial candidates. She repeated them Friday when asked by a reporter for the basis of the claim. "Well, we all know that the majority of the people that are coming to Arizona and trespassing are now becoming drug mules," Brewer said. "They're coming across our borders in huge numbers. The drug cartels have taken control of the immigration. "So they are criminals. They're breaking the law when they are trespassing and they're criminals when they pack the marijuana and the drugs on their backs."
When pressed, Brewer explained that many are simply coming to the United States to look for work but "are accosted, and they become subjects of the drug cartels."

T.J. Bonner of the National Border Patrol Council told CNN that Brewer's claims were "clearly not the case." Bonner said Brewer's comments, don't "comport with reality -- that's the nicest way to put it." Brewer's statement is the center of a controversy over a recently passed law that requires law enforcement officials to ascertain the citizenship of the subject of any investigation if they have reason to believe their suspect is in this country illegally. The U.S. Department of Justice is considering whether to file suit against the law.

AZ Sen. Jon Kyl has a long time history of lying and exaggerations to support his republican agenda. The Brad Blog taped this example (see video) of his false allegations and refusal to provide proof of his false claims. Now Kyl is LYING about what he "says" the President said to him. This lie is particularly blatant because no one, no Democrat or Republican, can imagine the President taking a zealot like Kyl aside to share a "private confidence."

The White House on Monday denied Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl’s claim that President Barack Obama told him privately that he would not work to secure the border unless it was part of a comprehensive immigration reform package. In a video that started circulating among conservative blogs over the weekend, the Arizona Republican is seen telling supporters in North Phoenix that in a private meeting in the Oval Office, Obama said “the problem” with border enforcement measures is that “if we secure the border then [Republicans] won’t have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform.” Kyl said the president’s supposed statement is proof that Democrats “don’t want to secure the border unless or until it is combined with comprehensive immigration reform.”

But in a statement to POLITICO, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer denied Kyl’s account of the conversation, saying “the President didn’t say that and Senator Kyl knows it.” “There are more resources dedicated toward border security today than ever before, but, as the President has made clear, truly securing the border will require a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system,” Pfeiffer said.

Kyl has been one of the most outspoken critics of the president on immigration reform and has before accused Democrats of holding up border security in order to keep it as a chip to negotiate for broader reform. Later in the video, Kyl says the reason the federal government has not secured the border is that Democrats “don’t want to do it.” “They want to get something in return for doing their duty,” the Arizona Republican said. “You don’t have to have comprehensive reform to secure the border, but you have to secure the border to get comprehensive reform.” Kyl spokesman Ryan Patmintra said the senator is not backing down from his assertion, despite the White House’s denial. “There were two people in that meeting, and Dan Pfieffer was not one of them,” Patmintra said. “Senator Kyl stands by his remarks, and the White House spokesman’s pushback that you must have comprehensive immigration reform to secure the border only confirms Senator Kyl’s account.”

I don’t understand why politicians think they can get away with these kinds of lies. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recently told the Arizona Republic that she was disgusted with Nazi comparisons to the new Arizona immigration law SB 1070 because her father died fighting the Nazi regime. “Knowing that my father died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany, that I lost him when I was 11 because of that…and then to have them call me Hitler’s daughter. It hurts. It’s ugliness beyond anything I’ve ever experienced” Brewer said.

It turns out Brewer LIED. Her father died ten years after the end of World War II in California from lung disease. Even during the war her father, Wilford Drinkwine, only served as a civilian supervisor for naval munitions in Nevada. If memory serves, the Nazi regime did not make it all the way to Nevada, and certainly not in 1955.

This could spell the end of whatever prospects Brewer may have enjoyed for reelection. Signing controversial immigration laws is one thing – lying about military service is quite another.

Republicans LIE about Reconciliation! They've Used it 13 Times!

The Republicans are LYING again! They are calling "Reconciliation" the "Nuclear Option." Sen. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) and other republicans refer to the use of the reconciliation process as "an unprecedented power grab," and the "politics" of Hugo Chavez. They are using these terms to scare the American Public and demonize the passing of Healthcare Reform. These Republicans are puppets for the Healthcare Industry.


Sen. Gregg has a short memory. He forgets that the Republicans have used Reconciliation 13 times. Examples include: They used it in 2001 and 2003 to pass the GIANT Bush Tax Cuts (especially to the rich/big business which has led us into our current economic tsunami!). They used it again in 2005 to permit oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.


In fact, Sen. Gregg spoke on the floor of the Senate in 2005 to support the use of Reconciliation by the Republicans. He said it was "in the Senate Rules" and it was fine for "Majority to Rule." He said, “The president asked for it, and we’re trying to do what the president asked for.”

If the President and the Democrats decide to use Budget Reconciliation, they need only 51 Votes. There are 58 Senators. This is good news for the American People. Healthcare Reform can pass afterall. The Republicans who are long time supporters of the Healthcare Lobby and the party of NO do not even have to participate.

Wilson Authored Bill To Let Illegal Immigrant Stay In U.S.
Rep. Joe ("You Lie") Wilson's outburst during President Obama's speech last week didn't exactly make him out to be sympathetic to illegal immigrants, to put it mildly. There's also little evidence he ever worked as an immigration lawyer, as he's claimed. But the South Carolina Republican's hard line on the issue may not be as consistent as you might expect. In fact, on one recent case, it looks like he went downright soft -- and what's even more interesting is the possible reason why.

In July, Wilson introduced legislation that sought to gain permanent resident status for an illegal immigrant named Sainey H. Fatty. You can see the text of the bill here.

George Finnan, a veteran immigration lawyer, told TPMmuckraker that the measure is what immigration lawyers refer to as a "private bill" -- that is, an effort to win legal residence for one particular immigrant. "It's done, but it's not done often," said Finnan. "If I were a congressman, it would be a nice way to make a constituent happy." So why would Wilson -- the new face of the anti-immigration movement -- have acted to help Fatty? Wilson's spokesman didn't return our call. But could Fatty's Christianity -- and his work on behalf of a Christian ministry -- have spurred Wilson to intervene?

It's unclear what level of threat Fatty would have face were he forced to return to Gambia. A 2008 State Department report found that the Gambian government "generally respected religious freedom in practice." If Fatty genuinely faced persecution in Gambia, Wilson may have acted compassionately in trying to use his position to help him stay in the U.S. (There are many countries with much more dangerous persecution policies, particularly in Central America, particularly Guatemala and El Salvador). But, if nothing else, the congressman's efforts suggest he's a little more selective in his anti-immigrant fervor than the hard right might like to imagine.

WASHINGTON — House Democrats reaffirmed plans to take up a resolution as early as Tuesday afternoon scolding defiant Republican Rep. Joe Wilson, who shocked colleagues by yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's address to Congress last week.

Democratic aides say Rep. James Clyburn, a fellow South Carolinian, will introduce a resolution of disapproval, probably on Tuesday afternoon, with a vote later in the day. The aides spoke anonymously because no public announcement had been made.

Wilson telephoned White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and "expressed his apologies" after the episode last week but he has rejected Democratic calls to make a similar statement on the House floor.

Wilson says his initial apology was enough.
