Americans who are Hispanic,

I am asking you to Unite. Today on the various cable news channels, I heard the following discussion by Chris Matthews and his roundtable of pundits. Keep in mind MSNBC is more liberal then the extremists on Lou Dobbs show or on Fox. Here is what the "middle of the road" station said when discussing the Democratic Debates. Also keep in mind, the Democratic Debates are far less volatile and LESS xenophobic and racist then the Republicans. Here is what was said:

"The Republicans know they have already lost the Latino vote so they are against Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Independents just don´t care.

Nobody (meaning Anglos) don’t like the change in demographics in our society or in their neighborhoods. They don´t like looking at folks you are not used to seeing around. They don´t like ethnic change. They don´t understand neighborhoods change and you have to get used to it and deal with it.

People in the northeast don´t care about European or Canadian illegal immigrants. Canadians don’t look different so it doesn’t show and they don’t care."

Hispanic Americans, this is the kind of xenophobia and racist talk that is happening on the middle of the road cable channels. The right is starting to win the argument.

We need to get involved in this discussion. I know it is uncomfortable and we prefer to stay in the background. However, if we don´t get involved, we are going to end up in another "Operation Winback" mentality. We have to get involved. We have to vote. Start a Blog. Get connected with others.

What do these men have in common?

They are all Ugly Americans. Evil, Evil, Ugly Americans!!

Terms they use: Mexifornia for California! Third World for Miami or other Hispanic American Neighborhoods! Promote Racial Profiling for all Hispanic Americans!! They attack Hillary! They Attack Comprehensive Immigration Reform!!

Ask them this question. How would they answer.

"Are you advocating Mass Deportation of the 12M? If not, then you are just like the current Administration. They continue to partner with Business to bring in and employ these workers. You are content to live in a Political Hypocrisy, let the 12M live in the shadows, drive on our roads, invisible and without identity. That is the true double speak that continues to thrive in our current administration and which you apparently are supporting. Our economy cannot withstand the Mass Deportation of 12M people. I ask anyone, anyone in Congress or any legitimate economist to prove otherwise. If you do not advocate Mass Deportation, then you need to say so, forthrightly. It is time we bring the 12M out of the shadows. We need Comprehensive Immigration Reform."

Hillary A Beacon of Light!

Hillary Clinton, our next President, was a beacon of light on the stage last evening. In the midst of the political debate, through the onslought of slings and arrows, the "gotcha" question was asked.

Tim Russert, frothing at the mouth to be the pundit that finally "got her" disobeyed the "Lightning Round" format repeated by his partner Brian Williams, several times throughout the evening.

Even though Hillary answered the question intelligently, even though Dodd, the weakest and lowest scoring candidate lied about her answer to the question and began his attack on her, Russert, still frothing, continued his attack.

Hillary is tough and swiftly took on all of her naysayers. She is a strong and able future President. Of course now, all of the nutcases like Limbaugh, Dobbs and Tancredo are continuing the attack. What do you expect.

Russert´s Question: "You said Gov Spitzer´s plan make a lot of sense..."

Hillary´s Answer: "What Gov Spitzer is trying to do is fill the vacuum of the failure by this Administration to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform. I believe we need to get back to Comprehensive Immigration Reform." (She said it made sense given the circumstances, not that she supported it nor was it the ideal solution.)

Had I been Hillary, when Dodd attacked, I would have added, "Are you advocating Mass Deportation of the 12M? If not, then you are just like the current Administration. Hillary will survive and continue to be strong through to election time. She can expect continued attacks. She is a strong person. The next time someone asks her the question, she should ask the question, "Are you advocating Mass Deportation of the 12M?" Asked and Answered.

ADL Names ANTI Hate Groups!

Hate Groups named by ADL: FAIR (including FAIR groups: "You dont speak for me" & "Choose Black America"), Minutemen, Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee , Alipac.us and more.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which monitors extremist groups and their rhetoric with regard to the immigration debate, has exposed a new development where some of the more mainstream anti-immigrant groups increasingly are adopting the tactics and rhetoric of racist groups and moving it into the mainstream.

"Under the guise of warning about the impact of illegal immigration in the rush to thwart the immigration bill from becoming law, some anti-immigrant groups reached for the playbook of hate groups," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "They have taken hateful and racist rhetoric and brought it into the mainstream."

ADL's new online report, Immigrants Targeted: Extremist Rhetoric Moves into the Mainstream documents the rhetoric employed by groups that routinely position themselves as legitimate, mainstream advocates against illegal immigration in America.

A closer look at the public record reveals that many ostensibly mainstream anti-illegal immigration organizations – including those who testified before Congress or frequently appeared on news programs – promote virulent anti-Hispanic and anti-immigrant rhetoric. Some groups have fostered links with extremist groups.

The groups highlighted in the ADL report include Mothers Against Illegal Aliens (Phoenix, AZ), the Federation for American Immigration Reform (Washington, DC), Choose Black America, You Don't Speak for Me, Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee (Raleigh, NC), Grass Fire (Maxwell, IA) and The Dustin Inman Society (Marietta, GA).

"The Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis were not the only ones who saw an opportunity in the national debate over immigration to sow the seeds of racism as a means to derail immigration reform," said Mr. Foxman. "While reasonable people can disagree about border control and the appropriate parameters for immigration reform, the debate has been tainted by the virulent anti-immigrant message employed by a handful of groups. The real victims in this are Hispanic-Americans and other immigrants who are being unfairly targeted, demeaned and stereotyped."

The report cites several key tactics used by anti-immigrant groups, including:
Describing immigrants as "third world invaders," who come to America to destroy our heritage, "colonize" the country and attack our "way of life." This charge is used against Hispanics, Asians and other people of color.

Using terminology that describes immigrants as part of "hordes" that "swarm" over the border. This dehumanizing language has become common. Portraying immigrants as carriers of diseases like leprosy, tuberculosis, Chagas disease (a potentially fatal parasitic disease), dengue fever, polio, malaria. Depicting immigrants as criminals, murderers, rapists, terrorists, and a danger to children and families. Propagating conspiracy theories about an alleged secret "reconquista" plot by Mexican immigrants to create a "greater Mexico" by seizing seven states in the American Southwest that once belonged to Mexico.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

Minutemen Coincidences Adding Up?

While various postings on the net lead us to believe John Alfred Rund ($750,000 bond), Anthony Riperti ($1,000,000 Bond) and Russell Lane Daves (killed by police) may have connections to the MMs and other ANTI extremist groups, there are some odd coincidences regarding the Latino Arson suspects.

. Catalino Pineda (only $75,000 bond) is well known to the police (and in the country legally). Some may term him a local street person wacko who "makes excessive emergency calls to the police." Could this be an MM set up?

Now for a very odd coincidence:

The name of the teenage arson suspect arrested near the SDMM headquarters in Oceanside (just 7 miles away) was named: Gorgonio NAVA (19). An anonymous caller contacted the sheriff’s office reporting the suspects' names and where they lived.

Now guess what the name of the suspect Schwilk angrily talks about in his ominous letter? Jesus NAVA.

Could they be related? Could this be another MM setup? Finding out any information regarding Gorgonio will be difficult. He has been spirited away to a Detention Center. As we all know, contacting anyone in a Detention Center is next to impossible.

As we learn more about what is happening in Southern California, one can only scratch their heads and quote Alice, "Curiouser and curiouser!"

Minutemen´s Short Term Goals and the CA Fire Map - Coincidence?

The California Firemap and the San Diego Minutemen´s "Short Term Goals" have something in common. The same locations.

From the SDMM website:
"Near term goal: To close every major day labor and migrant camp sites in SD Co. and to target businesses that hire illegal slave labor. So far we have closed several sites and are having great success in Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Fallbrook, Ramona, San Diego, and other locations. Area 12 (Rice) is the most interesting location. This is the location that houses the home of the Fallbrook Catholic Church detailed in Scwilk´s ominous letter to the Editor and more in this RP Blog.

Minutemen Start California Fires?

BREAKING NEWS: FBI arrests Minuteman White Supremacist for arson (article from Craigs List)

FBI just announced they arrested John Alfred Rund, 48, for arson in just one of the fires in Los Angeles. Rund is a known member of the National Socialist Movement and the Minutemen, both known terrorist organizations. The FBI also announced they are looking for multiple arsonist suspects in what is being called the largest terrorist plot to hit California to date. The fires have caused the destruction of at least 1400 homes and so far 3 billion dollars in damages.

Kansas City going Bonkers over Minutemen!

As many of my readers know, prior to moving to Dallas, I lived in KC. My children enjoyed the schools and there were so many family activities. They had some wonderful ethnic festivals in their downtown area.

I was sad to hear about the Minutemen controversy going on in their city. My friend Tony of KC writes about it on his blog.

Apparently KC´s Herr Mayor named a prominent (and some say racist) Minuteman to a significant city post. I first learned about the news during my daily scan of the prominent ANTI websites checking for the latest news. If it is any indicator, the ANTIs were rejoicing their Victory. (as is typical of them).

What is becoming of KC? I guess I moved just in time.

An actual line from an ANTI website today re- Tips on what to say on your Congressman´s VoiceMail when attacking the "Dream Act":

Advice from an ANTI Blogger: "Bored with your own opening call line? Tired of the same ol' same ol' tag line? I am! So I am going to use these variations: "Hi. My name is ______. I am a LEGAL IMMIGRANT and I am calling to..." "Hi. My name is ______. I am a HISPANIC-AMERICAN and I am calling to....."

These are the ruthless and diabolical tactics of the ANTIs. (I have a screen shot of this so it doesn´t matter if you delete the thread on the alleypackers website).

The ANTIs continue and continue their ruthless and diabolical tactics. Some of my viewers have said this "can´t be true. You must be making this stuff up."

Viewers, No One could make this stuff up!! The ANTIs are diabolical bogeymen!! Think of the San Diego Minutemen who terrorized migrant labor camps. Think of Scwilke. Think of Simcox. I could go on and on.

And think of the tactics of the ANTI groups who went around and put up Bogus Deportation Notices for Legal Citizens (this is shameful)!!

ARLINGTON -- At least four residents at the Las Lomas Apartments in east Arlington received a letter stating they were identified as illegal immigrants and needed to mail in $95 to avoid deportation.

Left on the residents' doors at least two weeks ago, the letter claimed to be from the U.S. Immigration Citizenship Enforcement Unit, which does not exist.

The letter, which gave a post office box address for the $95, also told the recipients to provide a list of names of all of their relatives who were in the country illegally.

Apartment managers said they believe the bogus letters were sent because of the ongoing national and local debate about illegal immigration. The complex has contacted the Mexican Consulate for assistance.

"We are passing out letters letting them know they don't have to be afraid," said Ruby Valenzuela, assistant manager. "We don't want to lose our residents because of this.""

ICE Forcibly Drugs Immigration Detainees Against their Will

Some shocking, shocking news has come to light.

ICE is forcibly drugging Immigration detainees against their will. According to CNN.com:

Dr. Paul Appelbaum, a professor of psychiatry, law and ethics at Columbia University, reviewed both men's medical records for this report and was stunned by what he discovered.

"I'm really shocked to find out that the government has been using physicians and using potent medications in this way," said Appelbaum, who also serves as a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

"That is the sort of thing that would be subject to a malpractice claim in the civilian world."
The allegations of ICE forcibly drugging deportees were raised last month by Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, during the re-nomination hearing of ICE chief Julie Myers.

"The information the committee has received from ICE regarding the forced drugging of immigration detainees is extremely troubling, particularly since it appears ICE may have violated its own detention standards," Lieberman spokeswoman Leslie Phillips told CNN in an e-mail.

Responding to Lieberman's written questions, Myers said 1,073 immigration detainees had "medical escorts" for deportation since 2003.

Both Soeoth and Diouf say they had not exhibited any combative behavior. Soeoth, a Christian minister from Indonesia, spent 27 months in detention awaiting deportation after his bid for political asylum was rejected. Hours before he was to be sent back home on December 7, 2004, he says guards injected him with a mystery drug that made him groggy for two days. See the document that shows Soeoth was injected

"They pushed me on the bench, they opened my pants, and they just give me injection," he said through broken English.

He says he was taken to Los Angeles International Airport while in this drug-induced stupor, but two hours before takeoff, airline security refused to transport him, so ICE agents returned him to his cell at Terminal Island near Los Angeles. Terminal Island, once a federal prison, is a crowded facility along the ocean where hundreds of illegal immigrants await deportation.

Soeoth's medical records indicate he was injected with Cogentin and Haldol, even though those same records show he has no history of mental illness. In the records, the government says he was injected with the drug after he said he would kill himself if deported -- a remark Soeoth denies ever making.

My Hero´s Recommendation to Resolve the Immigration Issues. What do you think?

Look, I have no problem insuring small farmers against major losses. But farm subsidies go mostly to big agribusinesses that hardly need them.

But the big problem isn't just the waste of taxpayer money. Americans -- including the US media and even Washington politicos -- tend to regard agriculture policy as the exclusive domain of legislators from farm states. Yet our farm policy is the single most damaging thing we're doing to the world's poor. Ending farm subsidies and tariffs would be the single most important thing we could do to reduce global poverty.

Fewer than 2 percent of Americans even work on a farm. Yet about half the population of the developing world depends on farming for their livelihoods. They can’t earn what the global market would otherwise pay them because America’s subsidized farm exports keep prices artificially low.

Thriving Multi-Culturalism is the American Dream

Every other year, we have our immediate Family Reunion. My parents had 10 children. Each of my brothers and sisters and I have our own families-children and many of us have grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. This reunion is somewhat large. It is small, however, compared to my great grandparent´s reunion.

My great grandfather was the ancestor I speak about who had a land grant in southeast Texas. My great grandparents had 11 children, 9 boys and 2 girls. We have this reunion every 5 years. Usually it is in a southeast Texas town close to the ranch (which was lost a while back). This year it was in a beautiful park in San Antonio. It was this past Saturday and it was a glorious event!

Each of my great grandparent´s children´s families are designated a T-shirt color representing the extended family of each of their children. My grandfather´s t-shirt color is pink. Other family colors are Blue, Yellow, Red, Purple, White, Gray, Green, etc. Color coding makes the games fun. We played tug of war, softball, horseshoes, volleyball, pinatas, karaoke, newlywed game and an evening dance. Barbecue grills´ sizzled all day long.

It was fun talking to family members I hadn´t seen since the last reunion. My family is hard working and patriotic. Besides my immediate family, so many of my cousins, nephews and nieces serve in the military. Many more than I realized are serving in Iraq.

My family is very multi-cultural. We have every ethnicity represented. We have blondes, brunettes, dark black hair and gray hair.

A park full of family members proves to me how thriving our multi-cultural communities are. We are peaceful. We are patriotic. We are family focused. We are Christian. We are contributing to the community. This is the story not often heard in the media. It was a beautiful experience!

America Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Several media outlets and groups are recognizing "Hispanic Heritage Month" - Sept 15 - Oct 15.

CNN´s coverage is particularly nice, with the focus on Families.

Former AG Alberto Gonzales wrote a touching article about his family. His comment, "The most admired values of the Hispanic community are the same values that sustain our nation's greatness: sacrifice, hard work, personal initiative, dedication to family, and perseverance in the face of adversity" was very meaningful to me. I too can say "I saw these values every day in the life of my Father."

As I frequently say on my blog, Hispanics are proud Americans. We have strong Christian and Family values. We have a strong work ethic. The CNN link also says the most important issues for Hispanics, besides Immigration are:

1. Education 2. Economic Opportunity 3. Discrimination

Ruben Navarette says there are Mixed Messages being sent out about Hispanics. Ruben says, "despite efforts by nativists to keep out both legal and illegal immigrants in a desperate attempt to turn back the demographic clock, Hispanics aren't going anywhere. Why should we? In many cases, we were here first.

In Arizona, Texas and New Mexico, you'll find families whose roots go back five or six generations. These people never crossed a border, and yet many of them are treated as if they came across last week because of skin color or the language they speak.

Ah, language. The great divider. More than three-fourths of Hispanics speak English or both English and Spanish, and less than a quarter speak only Spanish. Yet some Americans see a Spanish-language billboard and assume that Hispanics aren't assimilating. Or they accuse Hispanics of sending mixed messages by claiming to value English while maintaining Spanish. And they're convinced that the reason we have bilingual-this and bilingual-that is because Hispanics are demanding the accommodation.

They're not. If only there wa$ $ome way to explain what the$e outreach effort$ are really about. The Hispanic Century is upon us -- and influencing everything from food to fashion, politics to pop culture."
