Even Republicans Don't Support TeaParty Candidate (and Nut Job) Sharron Angle (from Nevada)

Not even staunch Republicans support Nut Job Sharron Angle - Senate candidate from Nevada. Not only is she nutty, but she holds very dangerous views. She has said she wants to end Social Security, dump the Dept. of Education, invite companies to come to the US with little to no regulation (drill baby drill - unchecked), she wants to bring back prohibition (make alcohol illegal), she supports Mass Deportation, she wants the media to only ask questions she wants to answer and on and on. She is a Tea Party candidate, as is Michele Bachmann (MN), Rand Paul (TN), and other off-the-wall looney candidates. Hopefully, the American Public is aware of their nutty views and will NOT vote for these candidates.
HP Reports: McConnell: 'I'm Not Going To Nevada' To Campaign With Angle
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) re-affirmed on Thursday that he will not be heading to Nevada this election cycle to campaign on behalf of Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle. "I am not going to Nevada," the Kentucky Republican said...his decision to forgo a campaign swing through Nevada potentially adds to the narrative that the national Republican Party doesn't know how to deal with the Tea Party candidate.
Already there has been friction between the Nevada Republican and others within the GOP tent. In late July, the Daily Caller quoted Danny Tarkanian -- one of Angle's primary foes -- saying that the other primary opponent, Sue Lowden, was refusing to campaign on Angle's behalf. "At the state convention, they had what they called the Unity Dinner, where they tried to bring the party together, and they asked me and Sue to introduce Sharron Angle to show all of us together," Tarkanian explained. "I went and did it, but Sue didn't show up for it. She wouldn't do it." In an even more bizarre twist, on Thursday, Tarkanian's mother announced that she would campaign on behalf of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to "call out Sharron Angle's extreme and dangerous positions against Nevada's working families."

The Dept. of Justice gives Arpaio DEADLINE in Abuse of Power/Racial Profiling Case

AP Reports: WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says an Arizona sheriff known for his (abuse of power and racial profiling) efforts against (latino neighborhoods and so called) illegal immigrants has refused to cooperate with a civil rights investigation and the Department of Justice is threatening to sue. Since March 2009, the U.S. Justice Department has been investigating Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office in Phoenix for alleged discrimination and for unconstitutional searches and seizures. Arpaio says the inquiry is focused on his immigration efforts.

In a letter, assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez gave the arpaio until Aug. 17 to turn over documents first requested last year in an inquiry into Arpaio's discrimination based on national origin. (Racial Profiling & Abuse of Power).

Arpaio Admits his Tent City is a "Concentration Camp!"

You never know when Sheriff Joe is going to blurt out a bit of the truth. Case in point: This video from the crew at 90daystoPhoenix.com, part of a documentary about Arizona currently in post-production. Crusading independent journalist Valeria Fernandez (who's done work for CNN en Espanol and New Times, among many others) and cameraman A.J. Alexander captured our geezer lawman (arpaio) during an appearance in 2008 at the Arizona American Italian Club in Phoenix, where he calls Tent City a "concentration camp." You know, like the ones the Germans (Nazis) used back in the 1930s and '40s.

Responding to some crackpot from the audience who wonders when Joe'll start using concentration camps, Arpaio gives the following response. "I already have a concentration camp," he snarks around 2:52 in, with nativist GOP politicians Don Goldwater and then Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas chortling along. "Andy, you gonna cover me on this, too? It's called Tent City."

Skip to 2009, during the forced, public march of undocumented inmates to a segregated part of Tent City. There, Fernandez confronts Arpaio on his previous statement. Arpaio denies he said any such thing. "I never called it a concentration [camp]," he states, though the video obviously shows otherwise.

Our septuagenarian sheriff apparently doesn't regard his facilities as humane in any way. Otherwise, why would he make an analogy to the extermination of the Jews? One other interesting comment from Joe comes as he's being done-up with mascara and powder prior to a CNN appearance. "I look like I'm dead, with all this makeup," he says, looking into a mirror. Dead? Only spiritually, Joe. Only spiritually.

Republicans Expose Their True Agenda: Get Rid of Hispanics NOW by Any Means Necessary!

With the courts agreeing with President Obama re: Immigration, the Republicans have decided to step up their efforts with their True Agenda: Get Rid of Latinos NOW by any means necessary.
The goal of Many Republicans and ANTI Immigration Reform Extremists is not just the passage of sb1070. That racial profiling law is merely the first step. Their actual goal is to STOP the Census Bureau's prediction that we will become a majority minority country by 2040. These radical republicans want to turn the tide now. They want to reverse the trend and rid themselves of as many Latinos as possible. Their method is:
1. Immigration: Mass Deport Undocumented Workers; Create Laws to ensure the undocumented deport their citizen children with them; Criminalize their Latino Friends & Families; Ramp up Racial Profiling (eg: suppression sweeps in Latino Neighborhoods as Arpaio does in Maricopa County) so that Latinos will self deport themselves and move out of the country.
2. Immigration: Reduce the number of Legal Immigrants from Latin Countries while increasing the number from white Northern European countries.
3. 14th Amendment: Change the 14th Amendment to remove the Birthright Citizenship clause (Jus Soli) and instead adopt a Blood Relationship clause (Jus Sanguinis). Countries, such as Germany, adopted this clause during the Hitler regime. Additionally Russell Pearce has submitted a bill before the AZ legislature to deny Latino citizen children their Birth Certificates at birth.
4. Make Spanish Illegal: Pass Official English so that all government documents are in English Only; Deny interpreters in any government office; Make it illegal to use Spanish in any government office or voting booth.
5. Seal the Southern Border: Build a 2000 mile wall at the Southern Border only. It doesn't matter that terrorists and the diseased have entered the country from the Canadian Border or through legal ports/terminals of entry, their goal is to seal the Southern Border only.
These Republican extremists are often members or associated with racist, white nationalist hate groups like FAIR, NumbersUSA and CIS; many have affiliation with the NSM (Neo-Nazis) and other racist extremists.
As proof of all this, here is what AZ Sen. John Kyl is saying about changing the 14th Amendment:

Kyl: Illegal Aliens' Kids Shouldn't Be Citizens
Sen. John Kyl, R-Ariz., said today that Congress should hold hearings to look into denying citizenship to illegal aliens' children born in the United States, as the fight over immigration widens into the explosive "birthright" issue. Kyl told CBS' "Face the Nation" that he supports a call by fellow Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., to introduce a new amendment to repeal the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Support is growing (among Republicans) for this stunning reversal from Graham. The 14th Amendment was enacted in 1868 to ensure that states would not deny citizenship to former slaves. It reads, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." Arizona's Republican State Sen. Russell Pearce - the architect of the controversial immigration law sb1070 - that was largely struck down by U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton - also separately proposed the same measure.

Kyl attempted to defend his view: "The 14th Amendment [has been] interpreted to provide that if you are born in the United States, you are a citizen no matter what. So the question is, if both parents are here illegally, should there be a reward for their illegal behavior?" Kyl said Congress should hold hearings and invite constitutional experts to look at the state of the 14th Amendment. The growing support for the issue suggests the Republicans are exploring different strategies to fight the Obama administration's victory over the Arizona immigration law, after Bolton issued a preliminary injunction on key provisions.


Kyl is a supporter of the racial profiling bill sb1070: "I think the court's decision was wrong. The governor and legislative leaders have talked about possibly tweaking - to use their phrase - the law to see if they can obviate the concerns the judge expressed. I don't think they can because her decision was very sweeping. I think it more likely that Congress could act to actually fix the problem," Kyl said, "by reaffirming that it is Congress' intent that the law be enforced, rather than having the administration decide that they don't want to thoroughly enforce the law." Kyl alleged his support of the law has to do with illegal aliens taking jobs that Americans want; his opinion is immigrants pose a burden on the state in the form of education, medical care and welfare benefits; and crime.

Repeating his opinion, Kyl said: "To me the most important thing is the crime associated with it - not necessarily committed by illegal immigrants but committed on illegal immigrants, as well as the roughly 15 percent of the people who cross the border each year illegally who are criminals."

But this week's "Face the Nation" host Harry Smith correctly pointed out to Kyl that the crime rate has dramatically DECREASED in correlation with the arrival of immigrants. "Crime in Phoenix, for instance, has significantly declined over the last couple of years," Smith said.

However Kyl again expressed his biased opinion with no statistics to prove his opinions: "That's a gross generalization, Property crimes are up. Certain violent crimes on certain parts of the citizenry are up. Phoenix is a very large source of kidnapping. It's (wrongly) called the kidnapping capital of the United States because the illegal immigrants who are brought to Phoenix for distribution throughout the country are held in drop houses. They are mistreated, horribly treated." Kyl opined saying sb1070 is not discriminatory. He disingenously asserted: "But if you live here in Arizona you'll appreciate the fact that we have a great tradition, particularly with our neighbor to the south, Mexico. It's not a matter of being anti-Hispanic. It's a matter of wanting to enforce the law."

Salvador Reza Released, Prosecutor Admits No Probable Cause for Arrest
As civil rights leader Salvador Reza stood in stripes before a night court judge around 3:30 a.m. this morning at the Fourth Avenue Jail in downtown Phoenix, the county prosecutor made an eye-popping admission. "This is really my review," he stated cautiously of a statement from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office before him. "I did not see that this rose to the level of probable cause." Reza's attorney Robert Pastor immediately pounced. "Your honor," said Pastor, "I just heard the prosecutor tell the court that there's not enough evidence here to suggest that Mr. Reza committed a crime. I ask that the charge be dismissed and he be released immediately."

Of Reza's bogus charge for "obstructing a judicial proceeding," the judge herself seemed skeptical. "I do not have enough information to find probable cause in this matter, sir," she told the county attorney. She declined to dismiss the charge, but she released Reza on his own recognizance and set his next court date for August 18.
Reza, leader of the organization Puente, had been arrested late Friday afternoon after watching a band of protesters engage in civil disobedience by blocking Sheriff Joe Arpaio's command post for the MCSO's latest anti-immigrant sweep. The post was located near 35th Avenue and Lower Buckeye, close to the Lower Buckeye Jail. Reza was across the street in an unpaved parking lot.

Though Reza was not participating in civil disobedience that day, a pack of aggro sheriff's deputies ran across 35th Avenue and arrested him. Arpaio, MCSO Chief Brian Sands, and MCSO flack Brian Lee have all been videotaped stating that the arrest was because Reza had violated his order of release after he'd been let go on bond the night before for taking part in civil disobedience on July 29. This, as part of a "national day of non-compliance" to SB 1070. After court was adjourned with Reza's O.R., a crowd of about sixty supporters, who had crammed into a viewing room to watch the proceedings from a TV monitor, erupted into applause. They then filed outside to wait another two hours-plus before Reza and the others arrested that day were set free.

"They arrested him for no reason," Pablo Alvarado told me, as we all awaited Reza's release. "He was doing nothing. They just took him. To me it's clear that it's retaliation, because he's been highly critical of the sheriff. They [Arpaio and his staff] don't like him. They hate him." Reza said he was shocked by the arrest, which came without warning, just as he was about to leave for an interview. "When I saw them coming, I thought they were coming for the people in the street," he explained. "But then they just passed them and went for me." Regarding who actually ordered his arrest, Reza believes it was MCSO Deputy Chief Brian Sands, one of Arpaio's top henchmen, a man who looks like he would have felt right at home in the KGB. "It was Sands," Reza contended. "Sands was in command." MSCO thugs hustled a cuffed Reza to a van, where he remained for hours by himself. At one point, the MCSO opened up the van to display Reza to photographers and journalists like a captured prisoner of war.

"If they can do this to me," he told the reporters present before refusing interviews, "what do you expect they can do to anybody else." "I just wish the [ U.S. Department of Justice] would get on the ball and do something about it," he replied. "I don't know what else they want...It's very clear."

The DOJ has been investigating Arpaio for more than a year now for civil rights violations. There's also a federal grand jury in Phoenix looking into Arpaio and the MCSO for criminal abuse of power.

Guest Voz - Flavia: The Leaked USCIS Memo and the Loony Bin Attacks

Last week, somebody (who, according to my sophisticated profiling skills, is a creepy middle-aged man with a sketchy mustache who lives in his mother’s basement and uses a Confederate flag as a bed sheet) leaked this internal USCIS memorandum, which is designed to promote “family unity, foster economic growth, achieve significant process improvements and reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization.”

At this terrifying prospect, the members of far-right brigade had mild, self-induced heart attacks, and everybody from our friends John and Ken at KFI on the best coast (colloquially known as KKKFI) to the supremacist training camps in Michigan started ringing alarm bells about “shamnesty”.

At this point, they’ve racked up enough points to qualify for the loony bin. Let’s review:
1. “Deferred action for immigrants who came to the country as 4 year olds, went to Harvard, and want to become oncologists to find a cure for cancer? Ridiculous. Un-American. Heresy. How could they possibly contribute to this country?”
Of course, an attack on DREAM-eligible youth. The memo suggests deferred action for DREAM-eligible youth, and the far-right is freaking out over this one, because deporting aspiring doctors, teachers, lawyers, and engineers is reasonable. Imposing a self-created brain drain is the best thing for America. Because we have too many college-educated citizens, and we really should put a cap on that.
LOONY POINTS: A quadrillion.

2. “Let’s throw out the 14th amendment!” Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), senatorial candidate J.D. Hayworth are really passionate about proposing a constitutional amendment to ensure that only the children of citizens can be citizens. According to Graham, “Birthright citizenship, I think, is a mistake.”
The 14th amendment states, and I quote, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.” Are you really sure that something intended to secure equality for all people should be overhauled? This wonderful addition to the Constitution was put in place because a long time ago, black people didn’t have any rights. They were called “slaves”. They were treated like cattle- constantly humiliated, separated from their families, and doing back-breaking work with little reward. We wouldn’t want anything like that to happen again, would we?
We know what you’re doing. We know that you don’t want the children of immigrants to have citizenship, because it simply isn’t FAIR. It hurts so much! Just like gay marriage. Every time two men kiss, it just hurts me, real deep inside. It would be the end of the world to have it be, you know, legal. I mean, can you imagine!? Two men… kissing! Legally! Similarly… people who are born here… getting citizenship!? It’s unthinkable. The mind reels.

**For full disclosure, my grandparents came to this country from Chile for a year in 1955, my grandmother gave birth to my father, and they then returned to Chile after 8 months. My father (yes, an American citizen by birth) left behind a dictatorship in Chile in the 80s to work in the United States. He is now an executive in the aerospace industry. Every time I see my dad, I see all the damage being done to this country by birthright citizenship. It’s pretty awful.

3. “Let’s deport citizens!”
Representative Duncan Hunter (R-CA) has suggested that he would deport a natural-born citizen child with undocumented parents. “You can look and say, ‘You’re a mean guy. That’s a mean thing to do. That’s not a humanitarian thing to do.’ We simply cannot afford what we’re doing right now,” said Hunter, also adding: “And we’re not being mean. We’re just saying it takes more than walking across the border to become an American citizen.”
Seriously? What does it take to be an American citizen, Mr. Hunter? Do I have to be white, rich, landowning? Because in that case, you may enjoy the east coast circa 1750.

4. “Deny access to permanent residence for current TPS holders who have escaped horrific conditions and war torn countries!”
Among the elements of the memo to which the far-right objects is access to permanent residence by current TPS holders.
Immigrants who have Temporary Protected Status are those who have left behind countries that are in shambles. And when I say shambles, I mean shambles. I mean genocide in Sudan. I mean 7.0 earthquakes in Haiti. I mean the mass gang-raping of women in the Congo. I mean “ongoing armed conflict within the state”, “environmental disaster resulting in a substantial, temporary disruption of living conditions”, and “extraordinary and temporary conditions in the state that prevent nationals from returning in safety”.
The memo doesn’t even propose to increase the number of TPS visas available. It just proposes that maybe giving people legal recourse to apply for permanent residency might be reasonable, so they don’t have to wonder if they’re going to be sent back to hell on earth.
The members of the far-right would deny people who escaped genocide, total destruction by 7.0 earthquakes, and systematic gang-rape to come to the U.S. the mental comfort of knowing that they are safe from deportation.
LOONY POINTS: 45, and Mother Teresa does somersaults in her grave.

5. “Family unity? For military families? Who cares, they’re illegals!”
They claim to support America’s troops, but they don’t seem to care if our bravest and proudest come home from tours of duty to find that their spouses and children have been deported. The memo proposes preserving family unity for the spouses and children of active duty military service members, and giving them housing, medical, and dental services. Given the sacrifices these families are making, it’s the very least we can do for the men and women and uniform.
LOONY POINTS: Stupid^nth degree
TOTAL LOONY POINTS: Too close to call… Just kidding! Based on this very scientific measurement, they’re crazy!
So, that’s the story. They’re officially totally disconnected from reality. They’re officially rank and file members of the loony bin- which doesn’t require birthright citizenship, mind you…
