Joe Arpaio calls himself “America’s toughest sheriff,” but the Arizonan might instead be the biggest fraud in law enforcement,On Friday to a Coronado audience, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore hinted Joe Arpaio was the biggest FRAUD in Law Enforcement. “When somebody is doing something right, what’s the highest form of flattery? Impersonation or whatever,” Gore said. “You don’t see what he’s doing being copied all over the United States.”
Sheriff Gore is appalled about Arpaio's assertion that President Obama’s birth certificate is fake. Sheriff Gore criticized Arpaio for sending a posse of volunteer investigators to Hawaii—far outside of his jurisdiction—to look into the matter. Sheriff Gore said the situation was embarrassing and said about the birthers’ contention: “I ain’t buying it. I think it’s a gigantic waste of energy—and I’m a Republican,” he told the Coronado Roundtable at the Coronado Library.
Many believe Arpaio is a media-attention seeking clown and denounces his housing of inmates in tents in the desert offering them green bologna sandwiches and assigning them pink underwear. “I have a different philosophy, my predecessor had a different philosophy, all the professional people in corrections have a different philosophy,” Sheriff Gore said. “The job, the punishment is removing them from society.”
Sheriff Gore noted that part of his responsibility is to be mindful of recidivism rates and how proper treatment can play a role in keeping inmates from returning to jail after their releases.
This isn’t the first time Arpaio has come under fire by fellow sheriffs.
In 2011, Pima County Sheriff Dupnik of Tucson told Newsmax that if Arpaio were an appointed chief of police instead of an elected official, he would be “fired tomorrow” for comments he made about the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others.
In 2008, a New York Times editorial called Arpaio “America’s worst sheriff,” citing a report on his record by the Goldwater Institute.

"Adios Arpaio" Voter Registration Drive Goes to Maricopa County
This morning, 50 Los Angeles students and DREAMers -- Voter Registration Volunteers -- boarded a bus near downtown Los Angeles bound for Phoenix, Arizona to spend the weekend registering hundreds of new Latino voters as part of the “Adios Arpaio” Voter Registration Drive. “Adios Arpaio,” sponsored by the Campaign for Arizona’s Future, has already registered over 20,000 new voters in the Phoenix area in a massive effort to shift Arizona’s political landscape by un-electing right-wing politicians who support anti-immigrant laws like SB 1070.
The primary target of the “Adios Arpaio” Voter Registration Drive is Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the 20-year sheriff of Maricopa County who is well-known as an egregious enforcer and outspoken advocate of anti-immigrant laws and policies. Los Angeles volunteers will spend the weekend alongside of over 300 Phoenix middle school, high school and college students registering new voters as well as participating in a major rally.
Los Angeles organizations participating in the “Adios Arpaio” volunteer efforts include the Dream Team Los Angeles, the Miguel Contreras Foundation, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, Long Beach Immigrant Rights Coalition, and Communities for a Better Environment, among others.

Pathetic Romney Attempts to Pander to Latino Chamber of Commerce
Romney addressed the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce today in a blatant attempt to pander for Latino Votes. Throughout his stiff, scripted address, he continuously demonized our President. He blamed the President for the increase in Racial Profiling and Deportations that are actually caused by the vicious right wing extremists like Joe Arpaio and Republican Governors.
Romney's pandering was so extreme, he even said, ""My dad, as you probably know, was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company. But he was born in Mexico ... and uh, had he been born of uh, Mexican parents, I'd have a better shot at winning this,"
Romney is truly pathetic!

The internet is all abuzz.
"Ryan Gosling is head over heels in love with Eva Mendes and he wants to have a life with her, including children. It's something Eva has balked at in the past but Ryan has a charming way of helping her see a different kind of future.”

Arpaio is Crying Crocodile Tears: He Cancelled His Birther Party Because Nobody Came!
Arpaio and his Tea Party Patriots have pulled the plug on Pat Boone and cancelled their Sept. 22 "Birther" bash at the city's Celebrity Theatre "due to inadequate ticket sales."
The venue's website touts an "intimate atmosphere of this 2,650-seat theater in the round" with an "extremely rare revolving stage."
Prices of entry ranged from $10, for tickets purchased in advance, to $25 if you wanted a "Meet and Greet" with the Maricopa County sheriff , who is pushing for a " Congressional BIRTHER investigation into the fraudulent documents produced by the [ Obama ] administration."

Hustler's Larry Flynt Offers ONE MILLION DOLLARS for Romney's Tax Returns and Info on his Off-Shore Accounts
Larry Flynt, the founder and publisher of Hustler magazine, has just put up a reward to the tune of $1 million for Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s tax returns. In cash.
Flynt has offered a $1M Bounty before - in order to OUT duplicitious Republicans who hide behind religion but actually are perverts. Republicans that have been outed in the last decade or so include: David Vitter (DC Madam), Mark Sanford, John Ensign, Bob Allen, Mark Foley, Ted Haggard, and so many more. While there are some on the left, by far, the majority are on the right.
Regarding the Tax Returns Romney refused to show us, Flynt specifically wants to see, “tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships.”
Larry Flynt is running a full-page ad in today's edition of the Washington Post. Another ad will be placed in the Tuesday edition of USA Today. “What is he hiding?” Flynt asks. “Maybe, now, we’ll find out.” The ad includes a telephone hotline and email, providing anonymity for anyone with information on Mitt’s highly controversial tax returns.
Democrats and Republicans alike have declared transparency to be an important issue with Romney’s campaign — the more Romney REFUSES TO PROVIDE HIS TAX RETURNS -- the more the issue raises eyebrows on both sides of the aisle.
Mitt Romney’s father George Romney released 12 years of tax returns when he ran for president in 1968, and said, “one year could be a fluke, perhaps done for show.”
President Obama has also released 12 years worth of tax returns.
Mitt released his tax returns to John McCain in 2008 while being vetted as a vice presidential pick. But, now they are strangely hands-off to Americans, who by the way, will have their tax raised while not knowing how Mitt has managed to pay possibly the same or even a lesser tax rate.
The VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS want to see Romney's Tax Returns. I hope Flynt is successful in obtaining them. That's right. I said it. We ALL want to see them! I particularly want to see what Romney did in 2008 and 2009. I want to know where he hid his wealth during the economic crash that SO AFFECTED the REST OF AMERICA.
GOOD LUCK LARRY. SHOW US ROMNEY'S TAX RETURNS BEFORE THE ELECTION!

Seniors Switching to Obama in MASSIVE Numbers: Obama Pledges - No Vouchers for Medicare NEVER EVER
MedPagesToday.com reports: CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- As it was on Tuesday and Wednesday, healthcare continued to be a central theme here as the Democratic Convention wrapped up on Thursday night, from the first speaker right up to President Obama.
Speaking of his opponent, Obama said that Mitt Romney's approach to healthcare could be summed up this way: "since government can't do everything, it should do almost nothing. If you can't afford health insurance, hope that you don't get sick."
"You know what?" he said. "That's not who we are. That's not what this country's about."
Obama also pledged that he would "never turn Medicare into a voucher," referring to Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan's proposal to convert Medicare into a premium support program. "No American should ever have to spend their golden years at the mercy of insurance companies. They should retire with the care and dignity they have earned."
Instead, Obama said he would "reform and strengthen Medicare for the long haul, but we'll do it by reducing the cost of healthcare -- not by asking seniors to pay thousands of dollars more."
And he gave a nod to reproductive rights as he urged voters to re-elect him. "Washington politicians who want to decide who you can marry, or control healthcare choices that women should make for themselves -- only you can make sure that doesn't happen," he said.
Like Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden took Romney and Ryan to task for their Medicare proposal. "You heard them talk about how they cared so much about Medicare. How much they wanted to preserve it. That's what they told you," he said.
"But what they didn't tell you is that the plan they already put down on paper would immediately cut benefits to more than 30 million seniors already on Medicare," Biden continued.
"What they didn't tell you is the plan they're proposing would cause Medicare to go bankrupt by 2016. ... They're not for preserving Medicare at all. They're for a new plan. They're for Vouchercare. Look, folks, that's not courage. That's not even truthful."
One of the earliest speakers to mention Medicare was a retiree from West Palm Beach, Florida, Carol Berman -- who played the "Everywoman" role in the Medicare story.
Berman told the delegates that the Romney/Ryan premium support proposal for Medicare "has me terrified. If Romney gets into office, the Medicare my three daughters earn will be turned into "Voucher Care," which won't keep up with costs," she said.
Noting that Medicare beneficiaries might have to pay as much as $6,000 per year in additional costs under the Republicans' plan, she added, "Six thousand dollars may be pocket change for Mitt Romney, but it's a lot of money for my family. Republicans are trying to end Medicare as we know it, but we are not going to let them."
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), chair of the Democratic National Committee, spoke about being a breast cancer survivor and why that increased her appreciation of the Affordable Care Act.
"I know what it's like to sit in the waiting room ... wondering how many anniversaries you'll have with your husband. That moment is terrifying and no one should go through it without health insurance," she said.
"When President Obama passed health reform, it was personal," Wasserman Schultz continued "When Governor Romney says he'll repeal Obamacare and put insurance companies back in charge of healthcare, that's personal too."
Reproductive health also was mentioned early on. "As a Catholic woman, I take reproductive health seriously, and today it's under attack," said Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy. "That's not the kind of future I want for our daughters. Now is not the time to roll back the rights of women. Now is the time to move this country forward."
Earlier this year, the Catholic Church protested an Obama administration rule requiring nearly all employers -- even Catholic ones -- who provide insurance to their employees to include coverage of birth control services.

Great News! Unemployment DROPS to 8.1% -- We're On the Right Course with our President's Policies!
I know the Republican Machine is trying to spin the numbers but it is important for the American People to see and understand the actual statistics. Here is the U.S. Jobs Report. Look at the devastation in 2008 during Bush's term. Look at the effects of Republican policies - Tax Cuts for the Rich and De-Regulation. The bottom dropped out and created the worst impact since the Great Depression. That's what was handed our President. Look at the recovery based on our President's policies. Unemployment has dropped to 8.1% in August. We are on the RIGHT COURSE! (click picture for closer view)

Fox News Viciously Attacks Julian Castro's Mother! BOYCOTT FOX NEWS!!!
There is an unspoken rule in politics. NEVER attack your opponent's family. Republican News Network Fox News broke that rule and Viciously Attacked Julian Castro's Mother!
The despicable network was angry over their ratings last night. MSNBC was Number 1 and FoxNews ran dead last.
Fox News lost their lead for a number of reasons, one being the remarkable speech given by San Antonio's Latino Mayor, Julian Castro. Julian spoke lovingly of his mother Rosie and his grandmother Victoria and spoke of their hard work and sacrifices in raising him and his brother.

Angry at their loss in ratings, Fox has taken the low road and has attacked Julian's Mom, Rosie. Look at the pictures. They chose to run very unflattering pictures of Julian and his Mom, and even showed a picture of Rosie with her eyes closed.
FoxNews "cherry-picked to demonize" a 2010 article praising the remarkable accomplishment's of Julian and mentioned some of Rosie's early struggles.
It isn't a wonder that FoxNews was in last place last night. They have no morals. You never attack someone's mother, especially a Latina mother. We cherish our mothers and do not stand for anyone attacking our Moms.
I ASK ALL LATINOS TO BOYCOTT FOX NEWS AND THE FOX NETWORK UNTIL ELECTION DAY. THAT IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND!
Democratic Convention Updates: Rep. Charlie Gonzalez Links Romney to Brewer, Arpaio and Kobach
Rep. Charlie Gonzalez (D-Texas), chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, talked to delegates and described Romney's immigration policies, tying him to the much-criticized immigration enforcement practices of Arizona. Gonzalez said, "The truth is that Mitt Romney has embraced the sb1070 racial-profiling policies of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe Arpaio." At the same time, Romney has praised Arizona for another controversial immigration measure, saying during a debate that the state's employment verification law should be a model for the nation.
In January, Romney said he supports Self-Deportation - MASS DEPORTATION. It's also another phrase for what Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who has advised Romney on immigration issues and wrote SB 1070, calls "attrition through enforcement."
Romney gave an address on immigration reform in June and said he supports broad changes to existing law, but without allowing undocumented immigrants currently in the United States a path to citizenship.
"The truth is ROMNEY would separate families that have been here for generations," Gonzalez said of Romney. "The truth is ROMNEY has embraced distrust and division at the expense of our American values."
Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.), another member of the Hispanic Caucus who spoke after Gonzalez, applauded President Barack Obama for his June announcement that some undocumented young people will be given work authorization and deferred action from deportation.
"Mitt Romney, on the other hand, is walking away from us," Velazquez said. "He walks with people who disrespect us and people who divide us."

Video Shows Last Week's Republican Convention based on Hatred of Minorities and our President!
Watching the Democratic Convention last night, it was so nice to see such a joyous celebration of Patriotism and Unity in supporting our President for Four More Years. Speaker after Speaker spoke from their hearts and were embraced by love from the delegate audience.
This is so different than what was on display last week at the Republican Convention. While this week, the Convention is focused on support for our Candidate, last week - Republicans focused on the hatred of our President and their hatred of certain people, policies and issues. It is not a wonder that reports indicate the TV ratings DROPPED by 30% from the Republican Convention of 2008.
As I previously reported, Republican delegates attacked a Black Camera woman. Some newsites are reporting this youtube video of Republican delegates boo-ing Zoraida Fonalledas, the Republican delegate from Puerto Rico. Look at the faces of these angry delegates. Most are shouting "Get her off - Get them off!" Demanding they remove the Puerto Rican from the stage. It was necessary for Rance Priebus, the RNC Chairman, to calm them down. Look at the delegates' faces. This is so different than the Democratic Convention.

Transcript of Julian Castro's Speech at the 2012 Democratic Convention
My fellow Democrats, my fellow Texans, my fellow Americans: I stand before you tonight as a young American, a proud American, of a generation born as the Cold War receded, shaped by the tragedy of 9/11, connected by the digital revolution and determined to re-elect the man who will make the 21st century another American century -- President Barack Obama.
The unlikely journey that brought me here tonight began many miles from this podium. My brother Joaquin and I grew up with my mother Rosie and my grandmother Victoria. My grandmother was an orphan. As a young girl, she had to leave her home in Mexico and move to San Antonio, where some relatives had agreed to take her in. She never made it past the fourth grade. She had to drop out and start working to help her family. My grandmother spent her whole life working as a maid, a cook and a babysitter, barely scraping by, but still working hard to give my mother, her only child, a chance in life, so that my mother could give my brother and me an even better one.
As my grandmother got older, she begged my mother to give her grandchildren. She prayed to God for just one grandbaby before she died. You can imagine her excitement when she found out her prayers would be answered -- twice over. She was so excited that the day before Joaquin and I were born she entered a menudo cook-off, and she won $300! That's how she paid our hospital bill.
By the time my brother and I came along, this incredible woman had taught herself to read and write in both Spanish and English. I can still see her in the room that Joaquin and I shared with her, reading her Agatha Christie novels late into the night. And I can still remember her, every morning as Joaquin and I walked out the door to school, making the sign of the cross behind us, saying, "Que dios los bendiga." "May God bless you."
My grandmother didn't live to see us begin our lives in public service. But she probably would have thought it extraordinary that just two generations after she arrived in San Antonio, one grandson would be the mayor and the other would be on his way -- the good people of San Antonio willing -- to the United States Congress.
My family's story isn't special. What's special is the America that makes our story possible. Ours is a nation like no other, a place where great journeys can be made in a single generation. No matter who you are or where you come from, the path is always forward.
America didn't become the land of opportunity by accident. My grandmother's generation and generations before always saw beyond the horizons of their own lives and their own circumstances. They believed that opportunity created today would lead to prosperity tomorrow. That's the country they envisioned, and that's the country they helped build. The roads and bridges they built, the schools and universities they created, the rights they fought for and won -- these opened the doors to a decent job, a secure retirement, the chance for your children to do better than you did.
And that's the MIDDLE CLASS-- the engine of our economic growth. With hard work, everybody ought to be able to get there. And with hard work, everybody ought to be able to stay there -- and go beyond. The dream of raising a family in a place where hard work is rewarded is not unique to Americans. It's a human dream, one that calls across oceans and borders. The dream is universal, but America makes it possible. And our investment in opportunity makes it a reality.
Now, in Texas, we believe in the rugged individual. Texas may be the one place where people actually still have bootstraps, and we expect folks to pull themselves up by them. But we also recognize there are some things we can't do alone. We have to come together and invest in opportunity today for prosperity tomorrow.
And it starts with education. Twenty years ago, Joaquin and I left home for college and then for law school. In those classrooms, we met some of the brightest folks in the world. But at the end of our days there, I couldn't help but to think back to my classmates at Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio. They had the same talent, the same brains, the same dreams as the folks we sat with at Stanford and Harvard. I realized the difference wasn't one of intelligence or drive. The difference was opportunity.
In my city of San Antonio, we get that. So we're working to ensure that more four-year-olds have access to pre-K. We opened Cafe College, where students get help with everything from test prep to financial aid paperwork. We know that you can't be pro-business unless you're pro-education. We know that pre-K and student loans aren't charity. They're a smart investment in a workforce that can fill and create the jobs of tomorrow. We're investing in our young minds today to be competitive in the global economy tomorrow.
And it's paying off. Last year the Milken Institute ranked San Antonio as the nation's top performing local economy. And we're only getting started. Opportunity today, prosperity tomorrow.
Now, like many of you, I watched last week's Republican convention. They told a few stories of individual success. We all celebrate individual success. But the question is, how do we multiply that success? The answer is President Barack Obama.
Mitt Romney, quite simply, doesn't get it. A few months ago he visited a university in Ohio and gave the students there a little entrepreneurial advice. "Start a business," he said. But how? "Borrow money if you have to from your parents," he told them. Gee, why didn't I think of that? Some people are lucky enough to borrow money from their parents, but that shouldn't determine whether you can pursue your dreams. I don't think Gov. Romney meant any harm. I think he's a good guy. He just has no idea how good he's had it.
We know that in our free market economy some will prosper more than others. What we don't accept is the idea that some folks won't even get a chance. And the thing is, Mitt Romney and the Republican Party are perfectly comfortable with that America. In fact, that's exactly what they're promising us.
The Romney-Ryan budget doesn't just cut public education, cut Medicare, cut transportation and cut job training.
It doesn't just pummel the middle class -- it dismantles it. It dismantles what generations before have built to ensure that everybody can enter and stay in the middle class. When it comes to getting the middle class back to work, Mitt Romney says, "No." When it comes to respecting women's rights, Mitt Romney says, "No." When it comes to letting people marry whomever they love, Mitt Romney says, "No." When it comes to expanding access to good health care, Mitt Romney says, "No."
Actually, Mitt Romney said, "Yes," and now he says, "No." Gov. Romney has undergone an extreme makeover, and it ain't pretty. So here's what we're going to say to Mitt Romney. We're going to say, "No."
Of all the fictions we heard last week in Tampa, the one I find most troubling is this: If we all just go our own way, our nation will be stronger for it. Because if we sever the threads that connect us, the only people who will go far are those who are already ahead. We all understand that freedom isn't free. What Romney and Ryan don't understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it.
Republicans tell us that if the most prosperous among us do even better, that somehow the rest of us will too. Folks, we've heard that before. First they called it "trickle-down." Then "supply-side." Now it's "Romney-Ryan." Or is it "Ryan-Romney"? Either way, their theory has been tested. It failed. Our economy failed. The middle class paid the price. Your family paid the price.
Mitt Romney just doesn't get it. But Barack Obama gets it. He understands that when we invest in people we're investing in our shared prosperity. And when we neglect that responsibility, we risk our promise as a nation. Just a few years ago, families that had never asked for anything found themselves at risk of losing everything. And the dream my grandmother held, that work would be rewarded, that the middle class would be there, if not for her, then for her children -- that dream was being crushed.
But then President Obama took office -- and he took action. When Detroit was in trouble, President Obama saved the auto industry and saved a million jobs. Seven presidents before him -- Democrats and Republicans -- tried to expand health care to all Americans. President Obama got it done. He made a historic investment to lift our nation's public schools and expanded Pell grants so that more young people can afford college. And because he knows that we don't have an ounce of talent to waste, the president took action to lift the shadow of deportation from a generation of young, law-abiding immigrants called dreamers.
I believe in you. Barack Obama believes in you. Now it's time for Congress to enshrine in law their right to pursue their dreams in the only place they've ever called home: America.
Four years ago, America stood on the brink of a depression. Despite incredible odds and united Republican opposition, our president took action, and now we've seen 4.5 million new jobs. He knows better than anyone that there's more hard work to do, but we're making progress. And now we need to make a choice.
It's a choice between a country where the middle class pays more so that millionaires can pay less -- or a country where everybody pays their fair share, so we can reduce the deficit and create the jobs of the future. It's a choice between a nation that slashes funding for our schools and guts Pell grants -- or a nation that invests more in education. It's a choice between a politician who rewards companies that ship American jobs overseas -- or a leader who brings jobs back home.
This is the choice before us. And to me, to my generation and for all the generations to come, our choice is clear. Our choice is a man who's always chosen us. A man who already is our president: Barack Obama.
In the end, the American dream is not a sprint, or even a marathon, but a relay. Our families don't always cross the finish line in the span of one generation. But each generation passes on to the next the fruits of their labor. My grandmother never owned a house. She cleaned other people's houses so she could afford to rent her own. But she saw her daughter become the first in her family to graduate from college. And my mother fought hard for civil rights so that instead of a mop, I could hold this microphone.
And while she may be proud of me tonight, I've got to tell you, mom, I'm even more proud of you. Thank you, mom. Today, my beautiful wife Erica and I are the proud parents of a three-year-old little girl, Carina Victoria, named after my grandmother.
A couple of Mondays ago was her first day of pre-K. As we dropped her off, we walked out of the classroom, and I found myself whispering to her, as was once whispered to me, "Que dios te bendiga." "May God bless you." She's still young, and her dreams are far off yet, but I hope she'll reach them. As a dad, I'm going to do my part, and I know she'll do hers. But our responsibility as a nation is to come together and do our part, as one community, one United States of America, to ensure opportunity for all of our children.
The days we live in are not easy ones, but we have seen days like this before, and America prevailed. With the wisdom of our founders and the values of our families, America prevailed. With each generation going further than the last, America prevailed. And with the opportunity we build today for a shared prosperity tomorrow, America will prevail.
It begins with re-electing Barack Obama. It begins with you. It begins now. Que dios los bendiga. May God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro first Mexican American Latino tapped for Democratic keynote slot
Tomorrow night, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro will give the keynote address at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. This is a very prestigious and important role at the Convention. In 2004, it was Sen Barack Obama who had this coveted role which launched his political career. Tomorrow, Mayor Julian Castro will be the first Mexican American to address the convention.
This is IMPORTANT. This is SIGNIFICANT.
Castro comes from the Latino People of America, from the grass-roots.
(NOT Immigrants from some Privileged Group who are granted Immediate Citizenship once they set their feet on shore, or come from such wealth that they are granted Immediate Citizenship.)
The vast majority of Latinos in America are Mexican American. Mexican Americans comprise over 70% of the Latinos in America.
Castro was born in and is the Mayor of San Antonio, the Mexican American Capital of America.
(Yes, I said it!) All Latinos in America know this.
At 37, Carlos is the youngest big-city mayor in the country and has been mentioned by both parties as a future governor of Texas or even the first Latino President. He doesn’t deny interest in either job, saying only that if he gets reelected in 2017, he’ll “look around and see what’s possible.”
But Castro is not the only political force in a family that resembles a working-class, Tejano version of the Kennedys. His mother, Rosie Castro, has a long history of political activism. Born in 1947, Rosie Castro was raised in San Antonio, Texas. She did very well in school where she was president and valedictorian of her class and organized a Catholic Youth Club at the school. At a young age, she was active in San Antonio politics. She earned a master's degree from the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) and interned with the City of San Antonio.
Julian has a twin brother, Joaquin, who is also active in politics.
Rosie Castro was a single mother who brought her young sons to countless political meetings, instilling in them the sense that “public service is noble,” in Julian Castro’s words. His twin brother, Joaquin, who is one minute younger, is a heavy favorite to become a congressman next year. Julian and Joaquin first handed out campaign fliers at age 3 and joined their mother inside the voting booth so they could see the "nuts and bolts" of democracy. Before they were old enough to vote, they’d interned for a number of local officials and were groomed for bigger things in the west San Antonio barrio.
“We were very aware of Julian and Joaquin even in high school,” said Rep. Charles Gonzalez (D-Texas), the retiring lawmaker whom Joaquin Castro is running to replace. “They’ve always been very intelligent, driven, committed young people. It’s gratifying to see where they are today.”
Both brothers' political views are very similar. “My brother and I both agree that what we need to harness in the U.S. is the infrastructure of opportunity in the same way that past generations have built out roads, bridges and airports, and also an infrastructure of opportunity — strong public schools, great universities, Social Security for seniors,” the mayor said.
He and his twin ran for the student senate at Stanford their junior year, winning with the exact same number of votes. After Stanford, they earned matching law degrees at Harvard then returned to San Antonio.
“When they’re standing side by side, it’s confusing,” said Gonzalez. “I know them, know them well, but I was relieved when Julian got married — it’s easy to spot the wedding band.”
But their lives and careers are now diverging. Julian is married and has a 3 year old daughter. Joaquin remains single. Joaquin said their busy schedules and Julian’s young family mean they now “see each other less than we ever have, a few times a week,” and he admitted it’ll be “a bit strange” to be in a different part of the country than his brother next year.
Maria Castro is very proud of both of her sons and is very proud that Julian is Keynote Speaker of the Democratic Convention tomorrow. When asked if she thought if Julian could be the first Latino president, she didn’t miss a beat. “Absolutely,” she said.

Racism Festers In RNC's And CNN's Silence
Blackstar News.com reports: Racism Festers In RNC's And CNN's Silence
Republican National Convention became the scene of a racist incident involving an African-American CNN camera-woman. The RNC condemned the act. CNN gave a terse statement acknowledging it. At first, no names were released. Finally, under pressure from the Black community, the camera-woman, Patricia Carroll, 34, gave an interview. Resistance to investigating this incident remains as disheartening as the story, itself.
The facts are scarce. On Tuesday, August 28, Patricia Carroll, a camera-operator for CNN, was on the Convention floor. She noticed debris falling around her. Carroll looked up and saw the two White males tossing peanuts toward her. Peanuts, a GOP snack follows their symbolic Republican elephant.
"What are you doing? Carroll said. “Are you out of your damned mind?”
The men responded, "Here's some more peanuts." They then approached the guardrail and hovering above her in the stands and said: “This is what we feed animals at the zoo." They began hitting her with peanuts. The men were described as adult - “older-than-middle-aged White men."
In Carroll’s interview with friend and reporter Jamila Bey, the incident was viewed as surreal but not out of the realm for Florida. Carroll said: “While his partner laughed, the thrower leaned over the railing as if he was at the zoo and snorted, 'here’s some more peanuts.'"
Two Black cameramen and a female reporter came to her rescue. CNN security happened to be in the area. The two men were escorted out by RNC security. At this point, a bizarre story of racial insult sinks to levels that question whether this country has forgotten every painful lesson learned from the Civil Rights Movement.
The RNC offered Carroll no profuse apology. Instead, the RNC asked Carroll whether the miscreants been Black or White. Outside of a testy statement calling the incident reprehensible, the RNC strategists refuse to elaborate on any actions they have taken against the perpetrators.
CNN issued a short statement confirming the incident which also declared, "CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment." Were the RNC and CNN expecting this blatantly racial act against a Black woman, by two White delegates, at a political convention, nominating a U.S. Presidential candidate to simply disappear? If neither institution wanted to fan the flames of this controversy remaining silent was not the best strategy.
News organizations pry into the lives of the famous, political, and pedestrian daily for a living. Yet, CNN, like other media, can become camera-shy when faced with being part of a breaking news story. In this case, CNN resisted every effort to provide details. One can only imagine the media and political fall-out from had a similar incident occurred at an NAACP convention, with a White camera-woman, and two Black men taunting her with animal insults, and throwing food.
Without a police report the names are more difficult to find, says Roland Martin, CNN commentator. The Huffington Post, The Root, and Richard Prince’s Journal-ism have been at the forefront of prying forth details. No investigation seems likely without continued pressure from social media and everyday people seeking answers their civil rights organizations are not interested in knowing.
The RNC statement condemning this racial attack failed to reveal the names of the men or whether they were allowed to return and vote for Mitt Romney. Their State delegation remains a mystery, as well. This shameful act, and the silence surrounding it, speaks to what is deeply wrong with this country.
Patricia Carroll was the victim of a racial attack in the shadow of the stage where the RNC showcased Black Republicans Tim Scott, Mia Love, and Artur Davis. Where Condoleeza Rice, former Secretary of State, referred to the racial segregation of her youth as an obstacle overcome with hard-work negating the harsh reality of four little girls killed in the Klan-bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Each speaker regaled the GOP before an audience of over 4,000 delegates;where about ONLY 46 were African-American. To date, CNN and the RNC remain silent. However, remaining silent in the presence of racial ugliness will not make racism disappear. Racism only festers in silence.
The Republicans may be the party of Lincoln. But, they refuse to accept how the vestiges of the slavery Lincoln ended bedevils this country even into this 21st century.

Republican Delegates Assault Black Camerwoman with Peanuts,Calling her an Animal -- at Republican National Convention
On Tuesday night, two right wing extremist Repubican attendees of the Republican Convention assaulted a black CNN Camerawoman. Patricia Carroll was pelted with peanuts and called an "animal." Patricia told Journal-isms on Thursday that "I hate that it happened, but I'm not surprised at all."
The two white Republicans screamed through the pelting: "This is what we feed animals."
Patricia alerted fellow camera operators, producers and CNN security. The head of the STATE delegation — told her the perpetrators must have been alternates, not delegates.
But Carroll, 34, said that as an Alabama native, she was not surprised. "This is Florida, and I'm from the Deep South," she said. "You come to places like this, you can count the black people on your hand. They see us doing things they don't think I should do."
Carroll noted of the Republican convention, "There are not that many black women there."
She said she wanted to thank CNN, which "has been behind me 100 percent." Although she was stationed on the floor next to Fox News, she was not operating the camera at the time. The perpetrators "didn't know what I was doing. I happened to be standing there," near one of the delegations.
"I can't change these people's hearts and minds," Carroll added. "No, it doesn't feel good. But I know who I am. I'm a proud black woman. A lot of black people are upset. This should be a wake-up call to black people. . . . People were living in euphoria for a while. People think we're gone further than we have."
Carroll said she had received many requests for interviews and was in meetings most of Wednesday. "I was hoping this story would go away," she said. "I'm not interested in talking to any other media about this."

Romney Doesn't Have a Clue in How to Deal with the Little People!
Sometimes I think Republican strategists are DUMB AS ROCKS!
Why on earth would they send their Rich Ole Boy out among the people?
Why did they send him out "among the people" during the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac? Did they think he would perform better than their ole boy Prez W Bush?
Romney didn't.
Pundits.Understand this!
Romney is rich. He is privileged. Why don't you know this!
Romney DOES NOT KNOW how to react among REGULAR PEOPLE!
EVEN REGULAR WHITE PEOPLE.
Romney is rich and priveleged. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
How is he supposed to react when a regular person, even a regular WHITE person, comes up to him in an emergency and asks what she should do when her house is under water due to Hurricane Isaac.
Let's think logically.
Romney DOES NOT KNOW how to respond to regular people.
He has "PEOPLE" who do those types of interactions for him.
He has "PEOPLE" who interact with the underlings, the little people.
It is not HIS job, as CEO or as PERSON IN CHARGE to deal with the Little People.
Why don't Romney's underlings know this?
Why is Romney constantly EXPOSED to the Little People?
America understands that Romney doesn't have a Clue.
AND.. we will remember this on Election Day!

Romney Gaffs Again! Tells Flood Victim who Lost Her House to Go Home and Call 211
Romney went campaigning across flood ravaged Louisiana on his quest for the White House. Romney went with his pal, LA Gov Bobby Jindahl. They drove through a town that was flooded by Hurricane Isaac.
Romney and Jindahl spent about an hour meeting with first responders and local officials. Romney shook hands with National Guardsmen outside the U.S. Post Office and talked with a local resident, Jodie Chiarello, 42, who lost her home in Isaac's flooding. Jody told Romney she just lost her home to the flood and "He just told me to, um, there's assistance out there," Chiarello said of her conversation with Romney. "He said, go home and call 211." That's a public service number offered in some states.

Jody told Romney she just lost her home to the flood and "He just told me to, um, there's assistance out there," Chiarello said of her conversation with Romney. "He said, go home and call 211." That's a public service number offered in some states.
Anti-American Nut Dinesh D'Souza Wrote Negative Obama Book/Movie
Look at this guy. What a NUT! His name is Dinesh D'Souza. He wrote the book for the lying, hate-filled movie attacking Our President.
This NUT has never talked to our President, yet he writes in his heinous book that he "Knows him" and he "Knows what he thinks."
Right wing teaparty Republicans are going to this movie and making Dinesh D'Souza richer.
Do you know something else D'Souza is famous for? On the Bill Maher show, he said the 9/11 terrorists were Brave, they were warriors.
Congratulations Teabaggers - for going to this guy's movie and making this NUT richer!
