Two of Dannie Baker's Victim's Caskets Arrive Home in Chile as Others Begin to Recover

Five innocent students were shot by the racist madman Dannie Baker on February 26. Today, nine days later, the bodies of the two dead, Nicolas Pablo Corp-Torres, 23, and Racine Balbontin-Aragondona, 22, will arrive home in Chile. Meanwhile, the three survivors are beginning to recover from their wounds.
According to Sacred Heart Hospital, Sebastian Arizaga is in good condition after being struck in his hand and shoulder during the shooting. "Everything is going well. The surgeons saved my hand and I'm getting better. I am with my mother and my aunt, and I have good emotional support. I am very sad about what has happened, and I know I will need ongoing emotional support from professionals and my family. My recovery will be a long process, but I am in good hands."
Francisco Cofre is in serious condition at Sacred Heart Hospital, but continues to make progress, the hospital said. His father, Mario Cofre, told a hospital spokesperson, "Francisco is improving rapidly. He is sedated, but he knows what is being said to him and he nods his head to show he understands." Francisco Cofre cannot speak because he has a breathing tube that is necessary because of swelling that occurred after a bullet struck the right edge of his face and passed through his neck. After the swelling goes down, doctors will better be able to evaluate whether or not he will need more surgery. "I am grateful for all of the prayers and well wishes that we continue to receive," Mario Cofre said. "The family is grateful to everyone at the hospital - the doctors, the nurses and hospital administration - for all they've done for Francisco and our family."
David Alonzo Bilbao Meza is in good condition. His brother told media outlets last week that he felt David could be in the hospital at least another week.
Cards and notes can be sent to hospital patients at Sacred Heart Hospital, 5151 North Ninth Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.
Dannie Baker remains in the Walton County Jail awaiting his plea date set for April 21. His attorney, Buddy Gissendanner, said he plans to enter a written not-guilty plea at that time.

Yikes! My Dora is Changing and Growing Up! Mattell introduces "Tween Dora!"

My beautiful Dora is changing. I love Dora the Explorer.
It was just back in 1999 when Dora the Explorer hit the airwaves. The little Latino girl and her little friend Boots went on many adventures, taking kids along for the ride. While doing so, they taught them about computers and threw in a little Spanish lesson too.
My long time viewers know I have a doll collection which I started a number of years ago, around 1996. How did I start my doll collection? In the nineties, I was walking through Wal-Mart and saw a lonely doll on a sales cart. She was a Mexican Barbie doll. It was obvious she had been on the shelf for a long, long time. She looked very dusty and the box was extremely tattered. I bought her, took her home and I loved her. Afterall, she was the very first doll in my doll collection.
After that, I started collecting a variety of Latino dolls including Dora dolls. This was one of my first. Then Princess Dora was next on my list. I continued to collect Barbies, including Spanish Teacher Barbie and mother/daughter a Latina Barbie set. I never sought out looking for these dolls. Over the years, if I saw something I liked, I bought them, until I had a collection.
Soon, I started collecting a variety of Dora dolls, including the miniature Doras. They were so cute.
In the new millenium, the Dora dolls started evolving. Some of the dolls didn't look like Dora anymore.
Everyone who knows me knows I collect Dora. So when I received this one for Christmas, I was perplexed. Dora? I don't know ya! I like my regular Dora. Next, I received one of these. Then I started wondering what was going on. I like my regular Dora! I don't want a change. If you ask me, Dora is Dora! What is so confusing.
Imagine my surprise when this morning I read Mattel is coming out with a new "Tween Dora!" One with Sex Appeal! My gosh! She is supposed to be a teenager, filled with a million new marketing concepts. I understand Sales, Marketing and demographics, but, what on earth will become of my beautiful Dora??
At this point! All I can say is, let's hope my Beautiful Dora does not end up looking like this!

Republicans Desperate! Now Starting FAKE "New American Tea Party!"

Republicans are absolutely desperate. Extreme Right Wing groups have formed a new group called "New American Tea Party." This group pretends to be a "new anti-stimulus activist club." The group feigns ignorance to the fact the economic crisis occurred over the last eight years and instead places the entire blame on the current administration.
According to their website, this so-called new grassroots anti-stimulus activist club is "a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about the recent trend of fiscal recklessness in government." According to them, "this isn’t a conservative or liberal thing." They LIE and deny affiliation to any political party.
The reality, however, is the "New American Tea Party" is sponsored by the extreme right wing groups: the American Spectator, the Heartland Institute, Americans for Tax Reform, the National Taxpayers Union, Americans for Prosperity, FreedomWorks, the Institute for Liberty, the Coalition for a Conservative Majority and the Young Conservatives Coalition. Michelle Malkin is a strong supporter. J.P. Freire, the editor of the extreme right wing "American Spectator" hosts their website and provides their updates.
The minions of these extremist conservatives are armed with a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a blog advocating their supporters email Tea Party events to their friends. Their first tea party event they titled "the Big Event" was to be a huge gathering of supporters in various locations across the nation. Despite all of their website hype, very few people attended. On this clip from the Neil Cavuto show, Cavuto says the close-ups of the events makes it seem like there are large numbers attending, but when the camera pans out, you see there are very few in attendance. (reminds me of the "Hold their feet to the Fire" ANTI - National event). What is also interesting is the Cavuto video itself. The panel keeps repeating their group is a grass roots, non-partisan effort. However, the panel is comprised of John O'Hara, the membership Manager of the very conservative Heartland Institute, Fran Eaton, President of the Eagle Forum of Illinois, a group founded by Phyllis Schlafly, and Jason Pye, the Atlanta Chairman of the Libertarian party supporting Bob Barr for President and with Ron Paul on his website.
In the videos I've seen of the DC event, the speakers were Michelle Malkin, JP Freire, and Brendan Steinhauser, Director of Freedom Works (extreme Conservative group). John O'Hara scoffed at Cavuto for saying, "I don't see the throngs or rallies I see in other events of this nature. You are just a small, vocal minority." O'Hara responded, "For every one person you see attending these rallies, I know there are a thousand sitting at home supporting us." (yeah, riiiight)
The Tea Party website appears dead at this time. How did I find out about them? There is a chain email going around spamming a number of email addresses. I received one from one of my old ANTI commenters. The subject is "Tea Party" and it asks everyone to snail mail a tea bag to Washington in April, in time for Tax Day.
I imagine the Conservative Right Wing groups I listed above will be buying tea bags by the truck load so Washington will think they are from their so called grassroots supporters.
These faux Tea Partiers should keep in mind this interesting bit of history about the original Tea Party, notably, that it actually meant more expensive tea. There's a corollary here. The let-them-fail attitude of these Republican and ANTI-Obamaist Tea Partiers -- toward foreclosures could come with a hefty price tag. The bailout may be unfair (as bailouts, by their nature, tend to be) but instead of pricier tea, doing nothing could mean even more damage to home prices and increased foreclosures for countless Americans.
All of us true grassroot Americans should take the FAKE Tea Partiers with a grain of salt. Afterall, they are spending millions of dollars on their advertising campaigns, salaries, websites, fake rallies, mailings, teabags and fake webaccounts. If they truly cared about the American Public, they would be donating all of these funds to REAL AMERICANS who are out of work instead of on all this rhetoric to support Limbaugh's charge for Obama and America to FAIL!

Dannie Baker, Chilean Student Murderer: Deranged Psychopath Fueled by Right Wing Media

Local news reports and blogs have provided more information about Dannie Baker, the murder of innocent students Racine Balbontin-Aragondona and Nicolas Pablo Corp-Torres.
Update: Baker remains in the Walton County Jail awaiting his plea date set for April 21. His attorney, Buddy Gissendanner, said he plans to enter a written not-guilty plea at that time.
nwfDailyNews reports:
Most Deny Knowing Baker:
. Attorney Bart Fleet, said he didn't realize he'd met Baker until the Daily News called him recently to ask about the corporation. Fleet's office is listed as the registered agent for the ministry and had helped Baker file documents with the state.Fleet said he hasn't spoken to Baker since the fall of 2001."I'm probably a registered agent for thousands of corporations that we have set up over the past years," Fleet explained. "I don't remember anything about him other than this. We basically set up his corporation and filed his paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service."
. When Baker volunteered with the local Republican Party headquarters during the 2004 election campaign, other volunteers remembered that he traveled to Atlanta once a year to help with the Atlanta Fest Christian music festival. But festival organizers said there are so many volunteers that no one remembered Baker specifically.
. Cleaning Lady Remembers: Cheryl Rhoads cleans the town home directly across from where Baker lived. "He must have been sitting at his window, looking out all the time." She said it didn't matter if it was 6 a.m. or 2:30 p.m., Baker would ring the doorbell after she arrived at her job. "He wouldn't wait to be invited in. He would just come in when you opened the door." Rhoads said sometimes Baker would ask her how much she would charge to clean his home and sometimes he only wanted to talk about religion. He even gave her a copy of his book "Man's Perfection before God." Rhoads said she discarded the book because, although she is a Christian, the ideas were too extreme for her taste. On Amazon.com, Baker described his book as "my testimony of being a disciple of Jesus Christ, and by my covenant with God, walking in man's perfection before God."
"We had all decided he must be harmless," Rhoads said. "We were wrong."Rhoads said Baker seemed nice, but there was something about him she didn't trust."I told my neighbor and I told my son if anything ever happens to me when I am out cleaning, you go after this man," Rhoads said. "That's just the way he made me feel." Rhoads said Baker mentioned that he was trying to publish another book and expected to get more money from some source to buy a condominium on the beach. She said he asked her how much she would charge to clean up his old home because he planned to leave his birds there and not take them to his new home. "I thought that was strange," Rhoads said.
Igor: He used to be my landlord for two summers (2003 and 2005) while I was there as a WAT (Work & Travel) student so I dare to say that I know him quite well. In general, Dannie has been a mentally ill person for a long time (it's not important for how long). His health has been deteriorating dramatically since 2003. While in 2003 he was still quite OK although I have seen dramatic mood swings and outbursts of agression mainly against weaker persons, usually girls in his house who were also WAT students. But it was much worse in 2005. Dannie was taking a lot of medications and sometimes he was absolutely out of his mind. He became more and more convinced that he has a direct contact with God in his third form of Holy Spirit. For some weird reason he had to find a scapegoat for his miserable life so he blamed my brother for erasing his "important emails". It was an absurdity and I tried to convince him that he would never do such a thing, there was no rational reason. But Dannie just made me speechless when he told me that "Holy Spirit told him that John (my brother) was the Evil in his house and he was the one who deleted his mailbox". I couldn't object to that. It was an irrational realm of on absolutely insane man. After this event my brother rather left his house...So, here I am offering you a brief picture of Dannie R. Baker (used to call him Dannie R. Boy), a self-proclaimed preacher who wrote a passionate book about his personal journey of perfection before God which ended with shooting 2 innocent people. And I am not even talking about his dreams to marry some young Russian women. Dannie is a sick and pitiful man.
I would never expect him to kill someone. I would not consider him as an anti-imigrant radical or some xenophobic extremist. His life is just a miserable story of a man who never really had a woman and never really worked. He has suffered enormously from an inferiority complex and feeling of absolute uselesness. Although it might sound absurd to you, I think his killing was a desperate act of a man who wanted to be useful. I think he wanted to say that he is ready to bring sacrifices (in other words to be useful) in order to defend his beloved country from (mainly Hispanic) immigrants. He wasn't very intelligent so I assume that he just didn't have a clue about the difference between Chilean exchange students and Mexican immigrants. So, it has to be considered as an desperate act of a man possessed by an inferiority complex and not a murder fuled by some ideology of hatred.
-----------------------------------------------------
Dannie Baker, the murderer, convinced by the ANTI Immigration extremists that "illegal immigrants" are evil. His claim to fame for his "useless life" was "protecting his beloved country from mainly Hispanic immigrants." How many weak-minded desperate people listen to the hate-filled rhetoric of the ANTI Immigration Reform extremists? How many read their websites? How many more will be desperate for attention and act out their aggressions? We have seen the results of their actions against so many innocent Latino victims.
Examples: These FIVE Hate Crime Murders occurred in the last six months--

U.S./Mex Drug Cartels Reign; Mexico/U.S Presidents Partner to Fight; Mexican Residents say, "We Need Gringitos Back!"

Mexico's President Felipe Calderon has staked his reputation on a nationwide army-led crackdown against Drug Cartels. More than 3,000 Mexican troops arrived this weekend in Juárez as part of what authorities have described as a frontal assault on crime. The new soldiers, which are in addition to the 2,000 already assigned to Joint Operation Chihuahua, were deployed after a meeting last week among high-level Mexican government officials in Juárez. More troops, including intelligence units, are expected to arrive in the next few days.
President Barack Obama and head of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, strongly support President Calderon's War on Drugs. Afterall, the U.S. continues to be the Number 1 user of illegal drugs in the World. Attorney General Eric Holder mounted one of the biggest assaults against powerful drug cartels recently. More than 750 people were arrested across the U.S. with tons of cocaine and marijuana seized and the distribution of drugs disrupted through a series of raids and arrests.
The rising tide of Mexican drug cartel-related violence along American's southern border and beyond is, considered by some, a state of war. The U.S. drug cartels are partnering with Mexican Cartels. The U.S. cartels continue to send 2,000 illegal weapons to the Mexican Cartels a day! Mexico's gun laws are relatively strict. Civilians can't own military-style rifles or high-powered pistols and need an O.K. from the military to buy weapons of any kind. U.S. laws, in contrast, are porous. And with almost 7,000 licensed gun dealers along the border, including many operating from homes, trailers or tiny shops in out-of-the-way towns and remote strip malls, tracking sales of guns destined for Mexican gangs is a needle-in-a-haystack sort of problem.
It is commendable that the government of Mexico and President Calderon have taken up the fight against the cartels with a vigor and courage foreign to his predecessors, who were content to exploit the American appetite for drugs and look the other way at their own military and political corruption. But it is obvious Calderon cannot do it alone. He needs a full court crackdown, with the support of the American Government who will arrest the don't-give-a-damn gun-dealers on the U.S. side of the border who are arming Mexican drug terrorists now threatening U.S. communities.
It is clear we ALL should support both President Calderon and President Obama in their charge to stop the Drug Cartels on both sides of the border.
Mexican Economy: "We Need Gringitos Back"
Meanwhile, the local Mexican residents, innocent in all that has been happening, are feeling the pain of the lost tourist revenue. "We need the gringitos to come back," said Maria Guadalupe Santiago Gutierrez. "The violence is not aimed at them, and if you are not involved in the drug business, nothing will happen to you. Please put that in the paper." Santiago used to sell her handmade arts and crafts at the Juárez mercado. Since the tourist trade faded, she has set up shop on the sidewalk within feet of the Paso del Norte Bridge, closer to where visitors might venture. On a good day, she sells five bracelets and charms at $1 each. "People in El Paso don't understand that if they don't come buy things from us, we don't eat," Santiago said.

About the Children Murdered by Republican Activitist, Christian Conservative, Dannie Roy Baker

The Miami Herald reports:
Innocent Chilean students paid savage price for man's hate
With long, frosted hair and a sweet smile, Racine Balbontín-Aragondona was a natural cover girl. The 22-year-old college student studied hotel management and also worked as a model in her native Chile. She planned to marry in April. Nicolás Pablo Corp Torres was studying engineering and had been a star basketball player. His coach and friends described the 23-year-old as a ``good student and a gentleman.''
Their lives were snuffed out by a madman on a rampage with a rifle in Miramar Beach, a sleepy town in Florida's Panhandle. Dannie Baker, 60, looks menacing in his mugshot. He allegedly grabbed a rifle and walked past the pool complex to a town house where the students were gathered. At 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Baker opened fire through a window, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office. Three others were injured, including Balbontín-Aragondona's fiancé, Francisco Javier Cofré-Fernández, 24, who was in critical condition.
After a standdown, deputies arrested Baker, who had fled to his town house near the rental home where the students were shot. The get-together of about 20 friends, deputies said, was not rowdy.
SIGNS OF DISTURBANCE
So what caused such savagery?
Baker had shown signs of emotional instability, sending disturbing e-mails to fellow Republicans during the presidential election. Baker's messages, friends said, were ''radical'' and ''inappropriate,'' the Northwest Florida Daily News reported. So disturbing were the e-mails that the sheriff's office was notified last summer. For now, investigators won't say what he wrote. Baker wasn't happy with the get-togethers by the Chilean students. Neighbor Crystal Lynn told a TV station that Baker asked him `if I was ready for the revolution to begin and if I had any immigrants in my house to get them out.''
Was this a hate crime based on the presumption that the Chileans, who were in Florida for a six-month work/study program, were illegal immigrants? The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate crimes, released a report last week noting a 54 percent jump in hate groups in 2008 to 926 active groups, including 56 in Florida. Among them: black separatist groups -- which believe Jews are the devil and President Barack Obama is in cohoots, doing Israel's bidding -- and the skinheads, Ku Klux Klan and Neo-Nazi groups that seek white purity. ''As in recent years, hate groups were animated by fears of Latino immigration. This rise in hate groups has coincided with a 40 percent growth in hate crimes against Latinos between 2003 and 2007, according to FBI statistics,'' notes the law center's study entitled ``The Year in Hate.''
A DANGEROUS PLATFORM
Two other factors: the faltering economy and Obama's candidacy. ''The idea of a black man in the White House, combined with the deepening economic crisis and continuing high levels of Latino immigration, has given white supremacists a real platform on which to recruit,'' wrote Mark Potok, the report's editor. And, of course, they all hate gays, too.
The report also notes extremists are inflaming passions by ``spreading propaganda that blames minorities and immigrants for the subprime mortgage meltdown.''
The courts will deal with Baker's guilt or innocence, his motivation, and whether he's mentally ill. The horror of his actions serve as a warning about brewing hatred in small pockets of our country. Hatred that's fanned by the Internet and anti-immigrant rhetoric spewed on talk radio and some cable TV shows -- twisted into vendettas against the innocent.
