'White power' chanted during immigration discussion at school

You know we are having problems in our country when the debate turns ugly in the classroom. As Rodney King said, "Can´t we all just get along?"

BROOMFIELD – It started with a simple question and ended with at least one student chanting "white power" in a classroom.
It happened Tuesday in a classroom at Holy Family High School, the Catholic school that sits at the corner of 144th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in Broomfield.

...

"On Tuesday in a Spanish-language class at Holy Family High School, a single handful of students used heated and inappropriate rhetoric in a discussion on immigration. In a class of approximately 30 students, fewer than six students voiced strong anti-immigration opinions. The remaining two-thirds of the class were silent or voiced support for immigrants. At the end of the discussion, one student inappropriately said "white power," two or three times. Most of the students in the class did not hear the comments. Contrary to media reports, there were no chants by more than one student. Two students, who were offended, asked to leave the classroom and were given permission to leave. However, the discussion ended when other students realized how these students were affected and all of the students remained until the end of class." "When the administration received a complaint regarding this discussion, interviews were conducted of the students in the classroom as well as the teacher. The student who acted inappropriately was disciplined and the situation has been addressed with the teacher." "The administration treated this situation as a teaching moment - an opportunity to reaffirm that respect and charity should be the foundation of every dialogue and encounter with another."

Although I think chanting White power or any other racial remarks like that from other races should not be acceptable, we still hear it all the time from minorities and they get away with it. If Whites say it, they get called racists. What's good for the goose is good for the gander as the saying goes.

Dee said...

The saddest part of this story is that it happened in high school. This means the children believe it is ok to behave this way and they are receiving this message from their parents.

Anonymous said...

And so are minority children receiving their indoctrination into racism too by their parents.

Steve Sailer said something about white racial conciousness/nationalism:

"..In the longer term, I am uncomfortable with the idea of the two major parties splitting into racial blocs.

But there's a simple solution. If you don't want whites to act like a minority group - e.g. racially-conscious, bloc-voting, biased, prickly, led by racial racketeers constantly proclaiming their group's victimization - then the government should stop making whites a minority through mass immigration."

Instead of ruining the US why don't the Illegal Aliens all work that hard to fix Mexico and remove the Mexcian Mafia from Government? Why do they all want to come here and make the US as poor as Mexico?

Until you all are willing to deal with the 3rd world country we dump over 50 billion dollars into every year to start shaping up and stop the tide of Illegal Immigrants crap like this is going to happen and there is nothing the Mexicans are willing to do to fix it except cry for hand outs and wave the Mexican flag demanding things.

The problem is not white boys in the US, the problem is Illegal Aliens destroying our county while people like Dee stand by and support it.

If you lived in Canada would you then be a Mexican or a Mexican Canadian? You would be a Canadian and that is all. We do this stupid thing where we try to be two things at once. My Fathers, fathers, father came over from Italy in 1913, My Mothers, Mother came down from Canada in the mid 1940s. I am in face not an Italian or some mix. I am American. I served in the US Navy and I defended America. at no time was I thinking about Italy or being an Italian American Sailor, but there were "brown" people who wanted to act like gangsters and talk like they were from the hood so they were creating the problems for everyone else and we all had to put up with it.

I AM AN AMERICAN! You need to decide who you are and stop being such a socialist and agreeing with everyone to keep the peace.

Brown supremacists chant their hate in public, with bullhorns.

Dave said...

Hi Dee!

Don't blow this out of proportion. It's just one or a couple of rednecks spreading hate.

Look at how the school handled it. They rebuked and punished the offender and explained to the other students that his behavior is inappropriate.

Hopefully they'll all have a group hug, forgive the offender and continue harmoniously with their learning.

Anonymous said...

Rednecks? Are you calling the majority of Americans, rednecks for demanding that illegal immigration come to a halt and those here illegally leave? How is that being a redneck?

I wonder if the school would have said anything to the student had they been Hispanic or Black and chanted brown power or black power? I doubt it.

Here is an example of the reconquistas and their advocacy of "Brown Power." Do you think that they don't pass their view on to their children?

Welcome PJ Goober, We certainly welcome you to our civil discussion. Just thought I would mention that VDare does have quite a reputation and not a credible source for quotations.

From my perspective, we should live in a harmonious, multi cultural society. Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) is very multi cultural and thriving.

Hi David, Welcome to our civil discussion. You ask where is WET? Everywhere. All TV, Radio, Media. BET was created for the same reason ESPN was created, or the Golf Channel, or the Shopping Channel. They provide a source of entertainment for a group with specific interests, not all the time, just sometimes. The beauty of our country is we can specialize or generalize. The problems come when we become divisive and angry. Those children chanted angrily in Spanish class because they were carefully taught.

David, (did I mention my brother´s name is David. He served in Vietnam. I am proud of both of your services to our country), of course I´m American. Though I´ve explained this before, since you are new to my blog, here is why I named my blog this way:

Back in the 80´s I wrote a letter to the editor of my local newspaper complaining that I was labeled Mexican American and people would not allow me to say “American” without asking, “Yes, but what are you?”

An African American gentleman replied to my letter and said, “Stop complaining about it. Rejoice in your ethnicity. There is something “cozy” about being part of a minority group.”

I took his comments to heart. From that point on, I did not bluster about the label. I knew I was American.

I title my blog this way so visitors will be able to immediately recognize my cultural background and for blog purposes, this is important. I am not offended by the term anymore. I know I am an American.

Anon, I wrote to Steve Sailor today. He writes about his predictions for the future. There were a number of negative predictions re: Hispanics.

Steve is a known ANTI (ANTI every ethnic group in America). Do a google search. There are many websites that indicate Steve is not a reliable source and they use the R and X words. I responded to his most recent posts about predictions. Here is what I said. I wonder if he has the guts to approve my comment. Here is what I posted. He probably won´t approve it so I post it here:

Steve, Here is my prediction.

2032: Steve Sailor is in a Retirement Home (RH). Lonely, decrepit, he peers across the yard, longing for friendships amidst his multi cultural fellow RH dwellers. No family has tredded beyond the front door of the DH home since they checked him in.

The RH is short of help. He relies on a small Asian student for his vital needs. The Asian student is a fan of blogs on the internet and she has studied his bloviating blogs of Steve´s past. She looks at him, in his wheelchair, drooling, awaiting his next daily medication. She shakes her head and continues on with her job. She changes his diaper, gives his bottom an extra spank and says, "Maybe now you will understand why embracing diversity and multi culturalism is so important."

Later that night, she tucks him in and kisses his forehead goodnight. She does, after all, have a good heart.

Tanstaafl said...

I keep showing that video, and I recommend VDARE and patriot's videos too, because I want anyone who comes here to know exactly who they're "compromising" with and what they'll be getting alot more of if the invaders are allowed to stay.

dee, what we have been discussing in here has nothing to do with multi-culterism or diversity. What has that to do with illegal immigration? We take in legal immigrants from all over the world so we certainly aren't opposed to diversity. So what are you talking about? This is about our immigration laws being violated.

Dee said...

Pat, This particular blog was started due to the angry students making ugly chants (White Power) to citizen students who were Hispanic. Of course this is a multicultural issue. The anger by some ANTIs who are upset by the growing rate of minority citizens in our country, hence the chanting.

Anonymous said...

That is an outright lie! Anti's as you call them are upset about illegal immigration, not a growing rate of "legal" minorities. You are one of the oddest persons I have ever encountered. You seem to hate this country and it's citizens.

Getting back to the classroom scenario, from what I understand a student or students wanted to know why they had to learn Spanish. I am sure they have heard all about the illegal immigration problem mostly from Mexico. I would be willing to bet that they didn't express any "anti immigrant" views, but "anti illegal" views. You know how those two opposite terms are purposely miscontrued all the time.

I am not defending them for spouting "white power" but in the same vein we hear "viva la raza" being spouted all the time. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Dee said...

Pat, I am sorry you are in so much denial. ANTIs are upset by the notion of the growing minority-majority citizens and multiculturalism in our county. So many of your leaders say so including Buchanan, Beck and others not so well known. This is the true issue.

And I am sorry you are trying to rationalize the "White Power" behavior.

We are upset by the illegal invasion from Mexico. If there was an illegal invasion of Canadians, Chinese or any other race, we would be upset. As much as you want to keep the 12 million plus, sorry no can do. We can keep some, enough to do labor that we want them to do but the rest have to leave. Be happy you get to keep some, perhaps as prosperous as you claim to be, you could sponser a few of them. What do you think?

Dee said...

Many ANTIs are upset by the majority-minority citizenry in the US.

Many of these folks mirror the behavior and mentality of the famed eugenicist and Northern European ethnicity champion, Madison Grant

Dee said...

We should all teach our children tolerance and acceptance. We are now a multi cultural country. We are a thriving salad bowl.

Dee said...

It is clear the majority of ANTIs are opposed to Legal Immigration and the growing majority minority citizenry ratios in America. From Roy Beck, an ANTI leader:

"The drive of so many Americans for protection, exclusion, and separation in gated
communities is fueled by immigration, a growing underclass, and a restructured economy,
according to Edward J. Blakely, professor of planning and development at the University of
Southern California. He and Mary Gail Snyder of the University of California Berkeley
studied the gated communities and found them to be most popular in the states of
California, Texas, Florida, and in or around the cities of New York City, Chicago, and
Phoenix. All these areas except Phoenix have the highest U.S. concentrations of
immigrants-and Phoenix is filling up with native-born urban refugees who have been
traumatized by the social breakdown in California"

There is a lot of stuff here. First, let's make it clear that although the primary interest of most pro-legals is in ridding our country of illegals, there is another legitimate point of view regarding legal immigrants. We apparently don't all agree on this but there are among us advocates of a stable population. There may be more of us then it appears because some don't want to dilute the argument against illegals.

On the other hand no one is advocating the deportation of everyone except the WASPs. Limiting legal immigrants to 200,000 per year seems to me to be a reasonable national objective.

I have argued many times against population growth in the face of finite natural resources. I have also argued against population growth on the basis of climate change, extinction of species, traffic congestion, pollution and the inevitable decline in the quality of life and our standard of living.

The more poor immigrants or illegals we allow to enter our country, the closer we will come to an equilibrium with the standard of living of those immigrants or illegals in their homelands. They will re-create here the same conditions they fled their homeland s to escape. This argument does not need to be and has not been made on the basis of race, multi-culturalism,etc. It is simply a question of trying to preserve our quality of life and standard of living which are in serious jeopardy from quasi-patriots and a government of the elite who think they will be protected from all this by their gated communities.

ultima said...

By the way, I live in Broomfield and there is much Anti sentiment here for good and substantial reasons which I have reiterated ad nauseum. It is unfortunate that this sentiment sometimes results in personal insults for those minorities who are actually citizens. But we should not forget that some of these citizens were 14th amendment babies and gained their citizenship through the illegal violation of our borders by their parents. They should blame their parents for that, not their fellow citizens who resent the loophole in the law or its interpretation.

Dee said...

Ultima, When I read your comments:

Your comments are similar to those of someone else:

"Coming out of his concerns with the changing "stock" of American immigration of the early 20th century (characterized by increased numbers of immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe, as opposed to Western and Northern Europe), Passing of the Great Race was a "racial" interpretation of contemporary anthropology and history, revolving around the idea of "race" as the basic motor of civilization. He specifically promoted the idea of the "Nordic race" — a loosely-defined biological-cultural grouping rooted in Scandinavia — as the key social group responsible for human development; thus the subtitle of the book was The racial basis of European history. As an avid eugenicist, Grant further advocated the separation, quarantine, and eventual collapse of "undesirable" traits and "worthless race types" from the human gene pool and the promotion, spread, and eventual restoration of desirable "traits" and "worthwhile race types" conducive to Nordic society:
-- Madison Grant"

I still stay people come here for the American Dream. With education, opportunity and desire, it is possible for all of us to achieve it.

I agree we should support a Comprehensive Immigration Reform policy. (including secure borders, employer sanctions and bringing the 12M out of the shadows)

I also agree that many ANTIs prefer the migration of those from Northern European countries. If they admit this is their true agenda, then they should say so.

Anonymous said...

Bring them out of the shadows so we can deport most of them more easily--sounds good to me. As far as more European immigration, there is no openings, the Mexicans have used their spaces. No, we have to curb all immigration until we fix the Mexican illegal alien problem. Don't you see we cannot take in all the world's poor people, especially now with the invasion from Mexico.

I don't care about what some leaders are saying. Their views aren't always what the public thinks. I may agree with them on some things but not all things. How dare you put words in my mouth? I told you that most Americans are not afraid of diversity, they just want this diversity to come here legally. You shouldn't even be running a blog because you lie and accuse those who have kindly posted in your blog of things that are not true. Are you woman enough to apologize?

Actually, the one thing I can say about you is you are very open in your posts and you don´t necessarily follow the PC ANTI line. I certainly do not agree with your position, but I do defend your right to your view.

Regarding your issue, Here is YOUR COMMENT: "Anti's as you call them are upset about illegal immigration, not a growing rate of "legal" minorities." Yet, here on this very blog you see many are upset about LEGAL immigrants and LEGAL citizens whose parents may have had lapsed papers when they were born.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand your comment about immigrants and citizens whose parents have lapsed papers. Are you talking about visa overstayers? Those are the only lapsed papers that I am aware of.

I think I have read all the comments on your blog and I don't recall that subject ever coming up.

Dee said...

Pat, I was referencing another posters´comments. Anyone who have over stayed a visa is considered illegal, especially by the ANTIs. IF someone with an overstayed visa has a child, the ANTIs call them Anchor babies.

I hope this helps you in understanding the discussion.

Anonymous said...

Don't act like I am stupid. I don't need you in particulr to "explain" or help me "understand" any of the discussions in here. I am quite capable with 6 years of college.

It is true that anyone who overstays their visa is considered to be here illegally by the LAW. You think this is just a citizen opinion?

I know of the term "anchor baby" and it means that someone here illegally was able to create a situation by giving birth in our country that kind of guarantees them to stay by virtue of their child's birth. It is something negative attributed to the parents of the child. Not all, but many aliens do this with that in the back of their minds. I am one who is of the opinion that birthright citizenship needs to change in those instances.

Ulty, You are right. If you are speeding 5 miles over the speed limit, if you forgot your insurance card, if you jaywalk, if you play your stereo too loud, if you live with someone and are not married (in some states), you have broken the rule of law. Many of these are civil violations, just like overlapsed papers.

according to Edward J. Blakely, professor of planning and development at the University of

Note that this is a statement attributable to a USC prof not Roy Beck. Beck is primarily interested in controlling our population within reasonable bounds as illustrated by his gumball presentation. He realizes that this can be accomplished only with border enforcement and a reduction in legal immigration, both of which seem to be eminently good ideas.

Beck would make an excellent INS Commissioner and would quickly restore some balance to immigration and eliminate the chaos you believe to exist today.

ultima said...

"Many ANTIs are upset by the majority-minority citizenry in the US."

Do you suppose this has anything to do with the fact that so many of them arrived by illicit means or by abusing the 14th amendment? It's not the majority-minority thingy that has people upset, it is the way at which we arrived at this particular point in our history.

ultima said...

"Those children chanted angrily in Spanish class because they were carefully taught."

This is overstated. Children can't help but absorb some of the conversations parents might be having and what there points of view might be regarding all of the illegals and their anchor babies. Does this mean they have been taught to hate? Or does it mean they have learned something about what is going on in the world and in their neighborhoods as a result of our insane immigration policies and our failure to enforce and secure our borders. It's a little like a primer in current events. When I was a child we had a little newspaper in school that was called current events. What do you suppose would be edited out of a modern day issue of "current events" to make it pc? Or what kind of diversity, multi-culturalism would have to be included to avoid affronting the illegals or their amendment 14 children?

Most parents I know wouldn't consider teaching their children to hate others but they would be intelligent enough to tell them what is happening to their country as illegals flood across the border. And they would probably point out those jobs that used to be done by citizens that are now being taken over by illegals. They might even ask why their children think this is happening and whether or not it is a good thing. that's called intelligent dinner hour discussion.

I don´t think we should condone the student´s "White Power" outcry. Instead, the parents should take the opportunity to discuss tolerance and calmly discussing the issues vs these types of behaviors.

Glad to see you back Ulty.

Children should also be taught respect for our laws and that illegal immigration is wrong. We need to raise them to be responsible adults and to place a great deal of pride in country and the foundations it was built on and to continue to embrace these concepts. They may grow up to be politicians or even president of this country. We need to teach them integrity, something sorely lacking in government right now.

The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration

A great source of information. Once you learn what's really going on there's no way you'll ever agree to give any invader "a path to citizenship".

Tanstaafl said...

Wow, read this one.

From the article:

"A handful of Triad-area sheriffs were involved in the latest meeting in Greensboro. They estimate in some cases up to 40 percent of their crime involves illegal immigrants.

"Everything from prostitution, drugs, trespass, driving while impaired," said Guilford Sheriff B.J. Barnes, "the whole gamut of crimes we have out there, and they're committing a lot of them.""

Quick we better put them on a path to citizenship so the haters can't complain they're here illegally!

Dee said...

We do need a process for bringing them out of the shadows, I am glad you agree. We cannot keep status quo.

Anonymous said...

To bring them out of the shadows, enforce current law. No match letters will bring almost all of them out of the shadows, and into the light.

Anonymous said...

But you see those employers who benefit from the higher profits don't want them out of the shadows because that means they would have to hire an American at a higher wage.

Those like dee have an entirely different agenda and those are the ones we should really be concerned about.

Dee said...

Actually Pat, You are pretty scary at times. You react so harshly without studying the issues.

The 12M accumulated to this number over 20 years. This is primarily due to the fact our own Admin and Corporate policies allowed this to happen.

Bernanke and others have said the 12M contributed to our economy and helped us avoid a recession.

We are facing a severe labor shortage. Our economy would be devastated if there were a mass deportation of the 12M.

Given history and all that has happened to date, the only viable solution is to 1. secure borders,
2. sanction employers 3. bring the 12M out of the shadows and establish some path to guest worker or other legal status, perhaps to earned citizenship.

To think mass deportation will not devastate this country is naive.

Dee said...

Tan, Kernel and others have provided the true agenda of the extremist ANTIs.

Once people read your posts and click on your urls, they understand that.

The reason I started my blog is to encourage civil discussion. As a proud American, I felt it my duty to respond to people like you with truth and researched facts. I can see why you fear and try to demonize me.

Dee, where is your researched data, everything you provide is nothing more than mere articles from news print. Your economists say one thing, our economists say another. The fact of the matter is you choose to believe what you want to believe, while myself and others choose to believe what we believe based on our economists. Now how can yours be anymore fact than ours? Your research analysis comes to the outcome that you want it to, just like my research analysis comes to the outcome I want it to. So you see, its all your opinion versus ours, difference is that the LAW is on our side.

Dee said...

Perhaps the difference is I select unbiased news sources and university or government sources. Most often, your sides chooses links like VDare, OpEd pieces or agenda based authors. It is all in the documentation.

You are correct in one area. You have your opinion. I have mine.

Anonymous said...

What you claim as unbiased news can always be shown to be biased one way or the other. We also have University and Government sources. Your facts are still no different then ours. The only real difference is the fact you feel obligated to do something for the "illegal Immigrants" and give them a free pass, while we feel they do not deserve it as they had the choice to come here legally or illegally, their own choices set there fate.

Anonymous said...

What is missing from dee's research and analogies is common sense and logic and long term effects. she is biased because most of these illegals are Mexicans so common sense, logic and long terms effects are not allowed to enter her ethnocentric brain.

Our culture has not changed much thruout the years because prior immigrants came legally and they assimilated. That's not going to happen when you have millions that come here illegally and from one ethnic group. That isn't the kind of immigration that our founding fathers had in mind.

You aren't spreading the truth in here, dee. You are spreading propaganda and lies based on your ethnocentric views. I don't plan on being your village idiot scholar. Our government has been trying to dumb us down and hasn't succeeded. Do you think one ethnocentric woman can do what our government has failed to do? Fear you? I am sorry but I almost busted out laughing on that one and for the record, you demonize your own self with your posts. We should fear though when a entire ethnic group of Americans have turned on the rest of Americans because of an ethnic agenda. Thankly though we outnumber you. I think with common sense and logic and I value the fact that we are a nation of laws put into place for the best interests of American citizens.

So Dee endorses "Viva La Raza," while she condemns "White power."

In reference to the comment left my “David”:
You mentioned you and your forefather’s were from Italy, then perhaps you may want to consider asking them why they came to America in the first place? If Italy was such an affluent country in their time perhaps you would be an Italian instead of an American and you would have fought for your native country.
One of the most common misrepresented opinions is that of “Americans”. The only true Americans were the Native Indians, therefore all others including yourself fall under your nationality, then your country. Therefore, you are an Italian-decent American, only born here are you an American. What a shame and shame on you! If only your ancestor’s could hear you now, failing to profess your pride in your culture and country and ridicule others that embrace it.
Mexican’s in American want only what other immigrants wanted years ago, freedom and civil rights. Perhaps your correct in your contention that Mexico should improve their government, but truly consider the fact that our forefathers were once immigrants and they too fought the fight to remain here and their unity has allowed you to have a voice.
Mexican’s are only subject of being closest to America, as many seem to forget all the other immigrants that proclaim political refuge for their country poor economic status. What most American do not realize is that although they proclaim, Mexico as being an imposition to America, they actual contribute more to the American economy than you think. With large corporate companies such as Volkswagon, Mattel, Toyota, Coca Cola and several others setting up shop due to the economic status of America, why not share the labor with America? It is obvious that the Mexican’s have flourished in the labor/farming economies across America, why then not provide them the right to establish a foundation here for those such as yourself. They are currently paying into a government that does not repay them yet anti-immigration activists cry for a write-off come April 4th. Someday perhaps today, you will be thankful for the filled pot holes in your suburbia, new freeways and beautiful parks your children play in… paid in part by State Taxes, that derive from the immigrants that simply purchase groceries for their “AMERICAN” children.
In conclusion, America is founded on immigrants and nowhere in the constitution does it discriminate against any other citizens from entering and conforming to OUR society to become ONE NATION UNDER GOD.----MEG
