Racist Senator Imhofe Refuses to Meet with Sotomayor

Senator Imhofe refused to meet with the honorable Justice Sotomayor. To date, he is the only Senator that has refused to meet with President Obama's nominee for Supreme Court Justice. Regardless of any or all of his biases, you would think he would want to sit down and talk with her. After all, wouldn't any logical person want to sit down and talk to people they have concerns about?

I guess logic is not an issue, especially when you study the background of Sen. James Imhofe of Oklahoma. First of all, we must recall, Oklahoma is ground zero for militia terrorist attacks against America. We all remember the Oklahoma City bombings. Then we need to remember some of the most stringent Immigration laws in the country are in Oklahoma, supported and funded by the Minutemen extremists. Then we need to look at Imhofe himself. In May, it was Sen. Imhofe who proposed the racist "English Only" law. Who funds and supports the majority of ProEnglish legislation? It is none other than the godfather of the ANTIS and perhaps the most racist man in America, John Tanton. Imhofe has close ties to Tanton and they have been commiserating for years!!

It is probably a good thing Imhofe refused to meet with the honorable Judge Sotomayor. We do not want her to dwell in the land of darkness with the likes of Imhofe. For people who recall recent history, Imhofe voted against her eleven years ago when she was nominated for her current position. We can hardly expect for this racist to change his stripes.

Breaking News: Senate Sets Sotomayor Hearing Date for July 13! Nutty GOP Objects Because She is MORE Experienced than Roberts!!

Breaking News from the Washington Post:
Senate Sets Sotomayor Hearing Date
The Senate Judiciary Committee has set a date for the start of confirmation hearings on Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to be associate justice of the Supreme Court: July 13. "In selecting this date I am trying to be fair to all concerned," said Judiciary Chairman Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) in a statement. "I want to be fair to the nominee and allow her the earliest possible opportunity to respond to the attacks made about her character. It is not fair for her critics to be calling her racist without allowing her the opportunity to respond," he continued in an apparent reference to widely covered -- and later retracted -- remarks by former House speaker Newt Gingrich calling Sotomayor a racist on Twitter. "I do not want to see this historic nomination of Sonia Sotomayor treated unfairly or less fairly than the Senate treated the nomination of John Roberts."
A quick hearing is something Republicans had hoped to avoid, with Sen. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee,
saying he thought late summer hearings would be preferable. "I don't think that this should be rushed," he said late last month. "I don't believe we can do this before August."
Leahy appealed to precedent in making his announcement. "This is a schedule that tracks the process the Senate followed by bipartisan agreement in considering President Bush's nomination of John Roberts to the Supreme Court in 2005," Leahy said in a statement on the Senate floor. "....If 48 days were sufficient to prepare for that hearing, in accordance with our agreement and the initial schedule, it is certainly adequate time to prepare for the confirmation hearing for Judge Sotomayor."
Late Breaking News from MSNBC:
GOP OBJECTS TO SOTOMAYOR HEARING DATE
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC today that Senate Republicans will not go along with the timing of July 13 for Sotomayor's confirmation hearing. Grassley said he thinks it's too soon, both for Republicans and Democrats, to go through all of Sotomayor's writings. He said the timing of Sotomayor's hearing can not be compared with John Roberts', because she has been on the bench so much longer than he had been -- and thus has a longer paper trail.
Republicans! They are losing it!!
They are using the fact that she is MORE experienced than John Roberts to request a delay in her hearing! How ludicrous!

Judge Sotomayor Breaks her Ankle!

Judge Sonia Sotomayor broke her ankle this morning. With her busy schedule, she stumbled at La Guardia Airport while enroute to meet with Senators in Washington DC. Judge Sotomayor kept her appointments with six senators on Capitol Hill and the White House continues to push for a speedy confirmation. The White House wants to start the hearings as early as the first week of July.

Extreme Right Wingers' Broadcast Email Against Sotomayor: "5 Reasons Why White Men Are More Fit for Supreme Court than Latina Woman"

The extreme right wingers frequently send out crazy emails on broadcast lists to their like minded supporters. Their most recent undertaking is a nutty attack against Sonia Sotomayor citing the so-called 5 reasons White Males are more fit for SC than a Latina, a minority or a woman.
You really have to read it to appreciate how ridiculous this email really is and how it actually shows how ridiculous their perspective is. Enjoy!

(PS: Thank you to the rippdemup for publishing it.)

TO: All red-blooded God-fearing Americans
RE: 5 reasons why white men are more fit for the Supreme Court than that Latina woman

• White men are objective. Women and people of color are inherently biased, making all their opinions suspect. This should automatically disqualify them from serving on the bench. White men look out for everyone and aren’t just interested in taking care of their own. Frankly, people of color are secretly “out to get” white men and would use whatever power they have to settle a score.

• White people are color-blind and can transcend race. Today’s racists and sexists are actually people of color and women who cling to their identity politics just for their own gain. Judge Sonia Sotomayor thinks that race shapes one’s experiences and perspectives and that diversity somehow makes things better. Her Puerto Rican roots must be coloring her views for she clearly has little understanding of America or its citizens. No wonder Newt Gingrich authoritatively labels her a “Latina woman racist.” White American-born straight men have secure identities and don’t need identity politics.
Indeed, whites don’t even see race because they don’t really have a race. They’re just part of the human race. They prefer to blend in without calling attention to themselves. And they know that if we’d all just ignore race, then racism would disappear. That’s why Chief Justice John Roberts, when striking down a voluntary school integration plan, nobly asserted, “
The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” In other words, race conscious remedies to address racial inequalities are, by definition, racist. Simple logic. It makes you wonder how the authors of the Brown v. Board of Education decision could have been so blatantly discriminatory.
• White men are more qualified. They consistently score better on standardized tests. That’s why they get into elite schools and high-paying jobs, fair and square, without any affirmative action. If white men excel, it’s only because meritocracy works. Those who make the rules and play by them deserve to succeed.

• White men have the right judicial temperament. The last thing our highest court needs is angry people of color, hysterical women, or both. White men have well-honed skills for staying cool and collected. And they’re less likely to be “activist” judges. In fact, we’d be better off with a strict interpretation of our original constitution--before it got all mucked up with amendments that gave too many people rights they didn’t even earn or deserve, like the right to vote. Look where that’s gotten us.

• White men are the new minority. White men are endangered, having to fend off reverse racism at every turn. With a Black president, who knows what could happen to the Supreme Court and every other sacred institution? Under our unwritten quota system, every vacancy sets off a bean-counting frenzy. Now, anyone and their cousin with dark skin or limited testosterone is instantly qualified for a seat on the Supreme Court. That’s why this nomination fight is the new ground zero of Pat Buchanan’s prophetic “culture war.” And it may well become the frontline of the war on terror. For it’s not just the survival of white men at stake, but the sanctity of our entire social order.

Newt Apologizes For Calling Judge Sotomayor a Racist!

Newsweek reports:
In a lengthy message posted on his Web site today, Newt Gingrich apologizes for calling Judge Sonia Sotomayor a “racist."

Gingrich: My initial reaction was strong and direct -- perhaps too strong and too direct. The sentiment struck me as racist and I said so. Since then, some who want to have an open and honest consideration of Judge Sotomayor’s fitness to serve on the nation’s highest court have been critical of my word choice. With these critics who want to have an honest conversation, I agree. The word “racist” should not have been applied to Judge Sotomayor as a person.

Bring it On Racist Tancredo! Silly Smear Machine Republicans Like You Who Live in Glass Houses Should NOT Call the Honorable Judge Sotomayor a Racist!

Racist Tom Tancredo, the guy who called Miami a 3rd world country, the racist who told people in El Paso concerned about a fence dividing up their land to move to Mexico and, to top it off, in March he admitted the Immigration issue IS about Race.
In March, Tancredo said, "Throughout history, people who are NOT white Anglo-Saxon have become American by adopting a white Anglo-Saxon culture." He insists all minority immigrants have to become white northern Europeans if they want to assimilate to become Americans. What a racist nutcase!

Now this evil nutcase has the absolute gall to call the honorable justice Sotomayor a racist. I say to the evil Tancredo, "Bring it on Racist!"

Why is this nutcase (and others like him, like Beck and Limpbaugh) saying this?

Apparently they got their chonies in a bunch because the honorable Judge Sotomayor said, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
Not that racists like Tancredo care, Sotomayor was specifically discussing the importance of judicial diversity in determining race and sex discrimination cases. As a former Bush Justice Department lawyer John Yoo similarly stressed, the Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas "is a black man with a much greater range of personal experience than most of the upper-class liberals who take potshots at him" and argued that Thomas' work on the court has been influenced by his understanding of the less fortunate acquired through personal experience. Additionally, Justice Sam Alito has talked about the importance of his proud Italian heritage when he has made his decisions.
Are racists like Tancredo, Beck and Limpbaugh in a time-warp? Do they not consider other Justices' comments when they make their blantant accusations? Do they not remember their own racist diatribes?

It is times like these that I appreciate the sanity of comments by Senators like John McCain in supporting a very qualified candidate like the Honorable Judge Sotomayor. Comments by the likes of Tancredo, Beck or Limpbaugh are not needed and instead, prove to divide vs rationalize. I almost feel sorry for these extreme Right Wing zealots. They do not have a clue. They only make the wedge between Latinos/Women VS Republicans even wider.

As long as the Republican party is controlled by these right wing extremists, we Latinos will NEVER, EVER Vote for your Candidates Again!!!

I guess that is what these extremist Republicans want!
