Soap Opera Politics Vol 1 Issue 16: New Yorker Cartoon This Month and Next Month
The New Yorker published this rather outlandish Cartoon this week of Senator Obama titled "The Politics of Fear." The New Yorker says it: "satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail Barack Obama's campaign." Critics are complaining it "combines every smeary right-wing stereotype imaginable: An image of Obama in a turban and robes fist-bumping his be-afro'd wife, dressed in the military fatigues of a revolutionary and packing a machine gun and some serious ammo. Oh yes, this quaint little scene takes place in the Oval Office, under a picture of Osama bin Laden above a roaring fireplace, in which burns an American flag. All that's missing is a token sprig of arugula."
In the spirit of Fairness, I provided the following recommended covers for their next month´s edition. They too "satirize the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail, this time, McCain´s campaign." Fair is Fair and Equal Time for All!

Maybe I was the only one to get the joke? Surely someone else noticed it was satire...
oh please, you know the republicans were frothing at the mouth when the New Yorker Cartoon released that cover. I commend you Dee for your brilliant covers to make it FAIR (and more to the truth).
Everybody's got their panties in a twist over what a LIBERAL magazine did to THEIR OWN candidate. And, of course, they blame the Republicans. I blame it on their own stupidity.

Hello. My name is Dee. I live in Texas. I am an American. My ethnicity is Hispanic. Many would call me Mexican or Mexican American. Some call me a female, PRO-Immigration Reform - Ann Coulter.
My parents, their parents and theirs were all born in the USA.
My husband and I have been happily married for over 20 years. My husband is a big, Irish-American. We have two grown sons. We are happy and my family is doing well. I have been employed as a mid level manager at a very large, well known corporation for over 25 years, now recently retired.
In May, 2006, after the Immigration Marches, I started seeing the cable news channels talking very negatively about illegal immigration. I found many internet sites were talking negatively about legal and illegal immigration issues as well.
Since I do research on the job, I started conducting Immigration research on the web. I joined several Immigration websites and I researched others. I´ve learned so much about Immigration issues over the last year.
What you don´t see on the internet is the Mexican American perspective.
I am here to share my views with you.

I understood the joke. Will McCain´s crowd understand the joke when my covers come out next month?
Although I know it was satire, I think it was in very bad taste. I would never vote for Obama but I don't think this was warranted and isn't funny.

Personally, I find this funny as well:
