Bush Legacy: Another Raid, Another 300 to Crony Owned Prisons

Another 300 are "detained" in a SC Poultry Plant ICE Raid. Families are being ripped apart. Children are crying in the streets searching for their parents. Their families do not know where their loved ones are being "detained." The inhumanity of it all!
As the days dwindle down to a precious few, Dubya is ensuring his crony owned private prisons are filled to the Maximum.
The House of Raeford Chicken processing plants are well known for hiring illegal immigrants, particularly from Guatemala. As recently as last February, managers from their SC plant bragged to local newspapers of their hiring practices. In June, several Supervisors and Managers were arrested. As I read through this article, two things struck me.
1. The ICE investigation and Supervisor arrests occurred months ago. Why did ICE delay so many months to conduct the ice raid? Why not in June?
2. The Detention Center the detainees are going to is not listed in any article I could find on the web . Why not? I suspect they will be sent to another crony owned private prison. Why isn´t the name being reported as in other cases?
I find this whole story Very Curious. I will be following up on this story.
GREENVILLE, S.C. Federal authorities raided a House of Raeford Farms plant Tuesday, detaining more than 300 workers believed to be in the country illegally and searching for evidence of unlawful hiring practices. It was the largest immigration raid ever conducted in the Carolinas. It came after authorities determined that 777 of 825 workers at the plant had apparently submitted false documents to get their jobs.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they'll continue their long-running investigation to determine who allowed illegal immigrants to work at the plant, known locally as Columbia Farms. Investigating the employers, they said, is as large a priority as identifying illegal workers.
The detained employees will be questioned about the company's hiring procedures, authorities said, and may be deported. Investigators will ask workers how they were paid, whether they knew anything about hiring practices and whether anyone at the company offered them false documents...

In a February series about working conditions in the poultry industry, five current and former supervisors told the Observer that some House of Raeford managers knew they employed illegal immigrants. They said the plant prefers undocumented workers because they are less likely to question working conditions for fear of losing their jobs or being deported. In a statement Tuesday night, House of Raeford denied knowingly hiring illegal workers. Federal law, the company said, requires it to accept documents that appear to be valid, and to be sensitive to nondiscrimination laws...
Raeford managers await trial
Over the summer, ICE arrested 11 plant supervisors at their homes and charged them with immigration violations. Seven plant supervisors have pleaded guilty to using false Social Security numbers or alien registration numbers. Two are awaiting trial and two more are considered fugitives. The plant's human resources director, Elaine Crump, was arrested in July. She was indicted on 20 felony counts charging that she instructed employees to use fraudulent employment eligibility forms. She is expected in court later this month. Authorities allege Crump instructed human resource employees to use previously signed employment verification documents for new hires. Crump knew that the company official who had signed the verification papers could not have witnessed whether immigrant job applicants provided the required documentation, the indictment states. That's because the company official was no longer working at the plant. Since the initial arrests in June, dozens of workers have left their jobs. The company has been hiring fewer Latinos and has turned to state prisons to fill its production lines.

Ulty,
I am not going to change.
I will hold our next President to the same standards.
I am hoping against hope he will be better.
In any case, I certainly will continue my blog with the same objective view and reporting style!

"You have my commitment to follow the next President´s performance particularly in regard to cronyism, Immigration and the Global Economy."

And I hope with the same degree of cynicism and reportage on negative news articles and criticisms of the Obama administration as you have shown with regard to Bush, Palin and McCain.

Ulty,
My comment was in regard to your comment regarding what looks like your approval of the Japanese internment camps.
I saw the movies you mentioned, plus South Pacific, Love is a many splendored thing, flower drum song and more. I get the gist of what you are saying. Follow the rule of law, the rules of what is accepted by society, despite the humanity of the situation. I do not agree!

People are people. The social rules the elite place on themselves is only temporary!

Ulty,
Wow!
You were there and you approved! My gosh! Unbelievable!

Japanese nationals by law had to be incarcerated.

Remember the song from South Pacific,
"You've got to be taught before it's too late
Before you are six or seven or eight
To hate all the people your relatives hate
You've got to be carefully taught
You've got to be carefully taught"

IT DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR SOCIETY TODAY!!! Thank God!!

Obama policies patent Marxism: His Legacy

Robin Hood’s gambit: Rob the rich, pay the poor. Senator Obama told an Ohio man on Oct. 13, the self-employed plumber will pay higher taxes because he plans to “spread the wealth around.” Except the senator doesn’t call it income redistribution.

Euphemisms like “change” or “fairness” play better. So it’s only fair the rich guy pay for the poor. It’ll be “good for everybody.” Really?

First, I am not calling Sen. Obama a Marxist. A CPA with long experience, I disclaim any intention here of an ad hominem attack. His policies, however, are patent Marxism, and a fair target. Unfortunately, some readers will misunderstand. To those who don’t, please listen up.

Marxism defined: “From each according to their means, to each according to their need. “ Karl Marx. The Federal Tax Code structures progressive tax rates; as bracket income increases, the rate of tax increases. The lowest individual rate is 15 percent; the highest is 35 percent. In 2006, the latest federal data available, tax filers with above $50,000 in taxable income paid 90.3 percent of all personal income taxes; 56.9 percent of taxpayers (those earning less than $50,000) paid 9.7 percent of all personal income taxes; and 3.8 percent (those earning over $200,000), paid 50.6% of all personal income taxes. One-third of tax filers paid no tax. Without question, our already socialist tax structure causes high earners to pay a disproportionate share of taxes. Senator Obama asserts this is not fair because it is not enough.

His published tax plan promises to lower income taxes on 95 percent of taxpayers through refundable targeted credits. So though one-third pay not tax, they’ll get a refund. He will raise capital gains taxes by one-third, taxes on ordinary income above $250,000 by one-twelfth and corporate taxes by half. CCH analysis estimates the cost of his tax policies at $160 billion per year, net.

Perilously, this plan assumes falsely that GDP will not drop below its current level. U.S. history has demonstrated that raising tax rates on business and capital inhibits GDP and job growth. Small tax increases aside, Sen. Obama’s extreme hikes will contract GDP, because the confiscatory tax rates on business will force millions of layoffs and thousands of small businesses into bankruptcy, massively increasing unemployment and welfare. Where is the real concern for the poor in such a plan? Despite new tax revenues, the deficit will be severely exacerbated. Do not be deceived. Either Sen. Obama misunderstands taxation, or he’s counting on your misunderstanding.

Sen. Obama’s change to definitive socialism will exact an unacceptable human cost by crushing middle and lower income Americans who will be reduced to dependency on the state. Of course, the classless state is the Marxist means to pipe dream utopia. America has demonstrated just the opposite—working people rising through expanding economic opportunities. The American Dream’s realized floats all boats. Marxism drains the pond and calls it fairness.

Therefore, the fundamental question in considering Sen. Obama for president is, “Are you ready for America to take the Marxist path?” Maybe. But when you vote I hope you will make an informed choice.

Liquid,
No one said CIR would be easy. All of this would be established when processes are put in place from the passed bill.

Liquidmicro said...
"With CIR then they are citizens."

Aren't you under the 'assumption' they want to become citizens. Some may want to, but not all, others do not deserve the opportunity. How do you go about removing the bad from the good and what do you then do with those that do not want citizenship and how do you remove them from the USA?

WE HAVE BEEN REDISTRIBUTING THE WEALTH THROUGHOUT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION. AND THE REDISTRIBUTION IS UPWARD!
The top 1% own 90% of the Wealth in our country. We ALL know it!

You know Ultima.
I know you are a good man.
You are thoughtful. You care.

I want you to put McCain-Palin side by side with Obama-Biden.

You know as well as I do that from an intellectual level, from a diplomacy level, from a political level, Obama-Biden are by far the logical choice in light of the state of the world.

"I get the gist of what you are saying. Follow the rule of law, the rules of what is accepted by society, despite the humanity of the situation. I do not agree!"

There was also the humanity of all of the rest of us who were living in America at the time. I guess then like now you are willing to overlook the many for the few. No one is interested in being inhumane but sometimes that is just the fortunes of war even for democracies. I lived a tar paper barrack when I first joined the Air Force, my brother lived in a tent in steamy Louisiana and steamier New Guinea. How are tar paper barracks for those we had reason to believe might be a threat to our national security. Also take note of the difference between internees and those who were relocated some of whom were allowed to leave the camps if it was determined they would be safe when their relatives in Japan were busy killing and torturing our troops.

I suspect you would have had similar feelings if your siblings or parents were subjected to similar treatment. It is easy with a retrospectoscope to say, "Oh, I would have opted on the side of humanity, even if they had connection with our enemies!"

In "Snow Falling on Cedars" you saw some of the epithets painted on the houses of the Japanese residents. It is not a stretch to suggest that they were in jeopardy perhaps even more than our national security.

You overstate the case when you suggest that Americans had no concern about the humane treatment of the Japanese internees and relocatees. They just had a few other things on their mind, like the kid down the street that everyone knew who died on the Bataan Death March, another kid in the other direction who died on D-day, one's siblings that were in farflung places all across the world suffering from malaria, dengue fever, or horrendous wounds. I have already stated that the government did a poor job of protecting the assets of those who had to be relocated. But you should recognize that this is not the first time rights were suspended to preserve our country. I believe Lincoln suspended habeus corpus during the civil war, illegally I might add but he saved the union and the slaves from an uncertain future.

You perhaps now begin to understand how misguided humanitarianism can easily be construed as disloyalty. I can see the pickets in front of your house in early 1942 and the name-calling you would be subjected to then if you had blatantly favored the Japanese at that time. If you had had that experience, perhaps you would have learned to be more loyal to the national interest rather than your own personal agenda or personal feelings. It is analogous in a way to the schizoid nature of catholics who find it possible to vote for Obama and the abortion policies which he favors.

That's what my oldest son keeps telling me! On the other hand my former secretary/administrative assistant says, "Obama is really scary isn't he?"

I guess that's basically the way we feel. It's more of an emotional reaction than an intellectual one but see my earlier post here which raises some issues related to Obama's Marxist policies. That piece which I failed to properly attribute was written by a CPA here in the city where I live. I think he has a point. Instead of giving their excess wealth to foundations they control and which therefore allow them to spend their billions on their pet projects without paying any additional taxes. I think it is particularly indicative of Obama's lack of credentials in the area of taxation that he apparently not only plans to increase capital gain taxes by 30% but has indicated no recognition of the inappropriateness of taxing nominal or phantom gains due solely to inflation, rather than real capital gains.

Ulty,
It is my understanding that Obama will revert the tax rate to the level of the Clinton years.

You do know that the top 1% account for 90% of our wealth.

Ulty,
Back then, without the internet and the communication levels we have today, it was much easier to support the FEAR Agenda.
Today, the fear agenda is much more difficult to keep in place. This has become very evident to McCain and his campaign.
