"Ask A Mexican" Issues a Challenge to ALL ANTIs!

Our Friend and my idol, Gustavo Arellano, the author of "Ask a Mexican", is issuing the ANTIs a challenge.
"Who amongst you can truly say they hate the illegal Mexican but not the legal one? Who amongst you doesn’t care about culture but everything about the law?"
He will award a prize/recognition to the Top 3 responders. I invite ALL of my Readers to provide their responses here and to send Gustavo your answers. Here is his email address and his column. themexican@askamexican.net
From Ask a Mexican website:
Dear Mexican: I am a naturalized (legal) hispano in the U.S. and I just realized what the “illegal” craze is about. What immigrant-bashing citizens are trying to protect here are people like…me. Consider what this concerned a woman said to John McCain during a public meeting in New Hampshire last year. “I just think it’s not fair to all the people who came here legally and went through the process and now all the illegals, you’re just gonna give ‘em citizenship?” she said. “That’s not fair.” I have to say, I was moved. I came here legally, I went through the process and, you know what, I never cared whether the neighbor I buy my tamales from has his papers in order or not. Now I see why this woman wants to deport millions of people just like me. Because not doing so would be “unfair” for me. See, Mexican (I would say, Chicano), this concerns you, too. Anti-immigrant campaigns are made so people like you—rigorously legal immigrants—are treated fairly. Any words of gratitude? Carajo
Dear Coño: You honestly think “anti-immigrant campaigns” (your words, not mine) arise to protect legal immigrants? And they say it’s Mexicans who never bother to learn American civics and history! Where did you naturalize—outside a 7-Eleven? How do you account for Chinese getting lynched out of California’s Gold Rush during the 1850s, Japanese internment during World War II, the constant railings by Know Nothings about foreign cultures invading our shores without care for legal status, the centuries-long obsession with who’s white and who’s not right? The Mexican can’t help but to grin extra-grande when he hears people profess to love legal immigrants and hate the illegal ones. History just doesn’t prove it. If this were truly the case, anti-immigrant loons wouldn’t get their chonis in a bunch about language, ethnic makeup, and culture like they always do. They wouldn’t care about the rise of Univisión, chickens in the backyard, billions of dollars in remittances to the motherland—and yet they do. So, a challenge: who amongst you can truly say they hate the illegal Mexican but not the legal one? Who amongst you doesn’t care about culture but everything about the law? The best three responders (keep answers under 100 words) get a Border Patrol hat or a copy of my ¡Ask a Mexican! book—their choice!

Well I guess our ANTIs are a little bit shy.
OR
Perhaps they have finally come around to my way of thinking.

I don't believe they can answer this question because in the end, the end result is Racial Profiling and this is a very, very sad thing!

I doubt they have any rationale for this racial profiling.

To Dee and Friends :

Thanks for your Information and your excellent website.

Colombian immigrant Wilter Sanchez, 33, was brutally attacked by a gang of five thugs in Wednesday afternoon by a gang of hate-filled thugs in the town of North Plainfield, New Jersey. A hard working man, artisan of stone carving.

The man is horrible disfigured as you can see in the photos of the few sites who are giving these News, including an Important Spanish Speaking Newspaper and an Important TV Network in Spanish.

Facial Reconstruction because the man is totally disfigures with many skull gones broken and face bones also injured. May lose sight.

I find it very strange that the Big Newspapers are not giving information and only Bloggers talk about this Brutal Attack.

Of course "La Prensa" and Telemundo are important but this silence is weird.

I keep a record of Racial Attacks, and Murders too. This is beginning to look as a Big Roster of Names : Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and also Gays, Lesbians, etc ...

I keep saying that the Big Apple became a Clockwork Orange. And that Impunity begets murder.

Sometimes I think that I am mad and that all this Brutality can not be real.

I will give any new fresh information on this horrible attack and the Facial Reconstruction of this poor man :

Who amongst you can truly say they hate the illegal Mexican but not the legal one?

No body has said they hate the illegal Mexican. There is an objection to the way in which they have come here and presented themselves.

Who amongst you doesn’t care about culture but everything about the law?

You would be better served by using morals and ethics since our "culture" and our "Laws" have "moral values and ethics".

Isn't this implying that you cannot dislike an illegal action without disliking the "culture" of the person that committed the illegal action?

So everyone hates Catholics over a few priests?

But your questions is in effect unanswerable. How does one prove 'they hate the illegal Mexican but not the legal one?'

I currently work retail. I hate shoplifters. If I catch a shoplifter, am I suppose to hate all people that look like that shoplifter, simply because they look like someone I caught shoplifting?

So, I pose a question to you: How do we prove we hate the 'Unauthorized Immigrant' (illegal Mexican) but not the legal one?

That is kinda like asking someone to prove they are not racist.

First of all one would have to take issue with the premise because it is a little like the question, "Have you stopped beating your wife?" If you answer, you will be admitting that you hate illegal aliens. Opposing illegal entry and hating the individuals involved are two different things.

I think the question is saying Why do so many ANTIs against legal citizen activities including:
1. use negative terms including "Anchor Babies" "Mexifornia" "Miami is a 3rd World country"

2. oppose Univision and BET and other culturally diverse stations

3.oppose the use of Spanish as a 2nd language? and demand English Only Official laws?

4. Support 287(g) laws which result in Racial Profiling (e.g. Arpaio and Tulsa PD)

"....and demand English Only Official laws"

Who has an English only law?

Arizona, my home state, was accused of having one but people mis-read the law. The law said that all Government communications must be in English, but it didn't say that it couldn't be communicated in other languages as well. The issue came about when the State was printing things in Spanish only, making it unreadable to the majority of it's citizens.
People get nervous when they can't read what the government is printing.

The "anchor baby" issue annoys people because they see it as a means to gain "backdoor" access to the country, and it's welfare programs. I'm not saying that is what is going on, but that seems to be the most valid argument.

Univision is a private company catering to a niche group to make money. That is Capitalism. They need to get over it.

"Mexifornia" and "Miami is a 3rd World country" is kinda funny to me. I believe Miami is a third world country, because it's crap, not because of the demographics. I've described many small dying towns the same way, and large ones like LA...

Ok, I have an assignment Dee:
How many legal immigrants and/or citizens have been held in accordance to 287(g)?

The guy identifies himself as a Mexican. Is he a Mexican or is he an American? We all have a heritage but what country is he a citizen of?

"Who amongst you can truly say they hate the illegal Mexican but not the legal one? Who amongst you doesn’t care about culture but everything about the law?"

Since it is impossible to prove that one approves of legal immigrants but disapproves of illegal aliens, let’s begin by focusing on why we all, including Mexican Americans, should disapprove of illegal entry into our country and how legal immigration differs from illegal entry.
First, there is the rule of law which is the foundation of all civilized societies. The anti-America movement (el movimiento) talks derisively of that term even though presidents, congressmen, and the UN frequently use it regularly in official pronouncements and speeches. Obviously, el movimiento is being disingenuous.
Second, caring about one’s culture is not a form of hate. If it is, then all Mexicans who value their culture are guilty of hate.
Third, one can disapprove of the behavior (illegal entry, criminal activity, etc.) of individuals without disapproving of them personally as human beings.
Fourth, the bases for opposing both excessive legal immigration and the illegal entry of foreign nationals are not co-extensive. The common basis is not hate but a legitimate concern about unfettered population growth and its impact on finite natural resources, the environment, and all the other factors related to our standard of living and quality of life. The bases unique to the illegal aliens are that they have violated our borders and maintain an attachment and allegiance to their homeland, culture, and language. Legal immigrants are expected to renounce their allegiance to any foreign government and, in the past, they have been quick to adopt the American culture, language, ideals, and identify themselves as Americans rather than hyphenated Americans.
Fifth, can you think of any problem in any area of human endeavor on any scale, from the microscopic to global, whose long-term solution is in any demonstrable way aided, assisted, or advanced by further increases in population, locally, nationally, or globally? Which, in this regard, between legal immigrants and illegal aliens, are easiest to deal with under existing law?
Sixth, the “limit” of finite natural resources per capita as population increases without bounds is zero. That will ultimately adversely affect all Americans, including ethnocentric, hyphenated Americans. Why would anyone want to go any farther down this road by accepting illegal aliens in the same way we accept legal immigrants?
Seventh, opposition to illegal aliens and excessive legal immigration protects us all, of whatever stripe, from social burdens, resource depletion, environmental damage, climate change and from a decline in our standard of living. Legal immigrants are just that—“legal”. Although their sheer numbers have deleterious effects on America, they aren’t otherwise any different from long term citizens. Nevertheless, as Former U.S. representative Barbara Jordan (D., Texas) has pointed out, “It is both the right and the obligation of government to make sure our immigration policies serve the national interest.” That applies to both legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Existing laws already enable us to deal with illegals but some would have to be changed to reduce legal immigration to accord with the national interest.
Eighth, the availability of illegal aliens creates a dependency on them. It has been well-documented that reliance on foreign workers in low-wage, low-skill occupations, such as farm work, creates disincentives for employers to improve pay and working conditions for American workers. When employers fail to recruit domestically or to pay wages that meet industry-wide standards, the resulting dependence—even on professionals—may adversely affect both U.S. workers in that occupation and U.S. companies that adhere to appropriate labor standards.
Ninth, legal immigrants do not infringe on our national sovereignty; illegals do.
Tenth, illegal aliens can be deported; it is much more difficult to deport legal immigrants, so why waste effort on the latter.
Eleventh, legal immigrants come here with the desire and expectation of becoming Americans in every sense of the word; illegals often come with the sole objective of improving their economic status.
Twelfth, because of their illegal status, foreign workers tend to displace citizen workers because they are willing to accept substandard wages with no benefits.
Thirteenth, illegals burden our emergency rooms and hospitals, abuse the 14th amendment, often are paid under the table, violate zoning laws, and increase the cost of schools that are forced to offer bi-lingual classes. Doesn’t this warrant a different perspective than we have for legal immigrants?
Fourteenth, people are judged by their behavior, the way they act, their positive contributions to society and to their communities, their adherence to the law, their regard for their fellow human beings, and their understanding of what is in the national interest.

""Anchor Babies" "Mexifornia" "Miami is a 3rd World country"

These are factual terms. The best advice is "get over it." Any negative connotation of them is a fabrication of el movimiento.

"oppose Univision and BET and other culturally diverse stations"

Only because they create divisions in our society of the very nature you talk about.

Duque, here another for your record:

The body of an anglo 13 year old girl, resident of a small Colorado city, was found recently in a drainage ditch about a mile from her home. She disappeared last October. An 18 year old Hispanic has been arrested in the case.

"3.oppose the use of Spanish as a 2nd language? and demand English Only Official laws?"

No one opposes the private use or study of foreign languages. Official English just makes common sense so we can assert factually that English is our national language. It gives greater impetus to learning English so that we can communicate with each other and so that some citizens are not excluded from employment because they are not bi-lingual.

If our citizenship exams demand real fluency in English, we could save a lot of money currently being wasted on multi-lingual ballots, proceedings, publications, services and interpreters. Multi-lingual ballots is prima facie evidence that our citizenship test is a farce. A legal immigrant who cannot pass a stringent test of English fluency has little to lost because his or her children will not have a problem.

Bi-lingualism, bi-culturalism are both divisive when given official sanction. Arizona had a perfect example of where this can lead.

Bi-lingualism has never been a good idea from an official government point of view at all levels.

Here's a challenge for all those in el movimiento

Prove how the following are in the best interests of our country:

1. Law breaking of any kind
2. An ever increasing population.
3. Bi-lingualism
4. Weak language requirements for citizenship
5. Birthright citizenship
6. Foreign labor willing to accept substandard wages because they are illegal
7. Population-driven economic growth
8. Depletion of natural resources
9. Conversion of arable land to condos, highways, streets, new developments
10. Mexico Norte
11. Anchor babies
12. Chain immigration
13. La Raza
14. Ethnocentrism
15. Allowing neighbors to dump their restless impoverished masses in our back yard
16. Promoting a culture epitomized by the trashing of the Arizona landscape
17. Bi-lingual education
18. Busing Mexican children to American schools at taxpayer expense.
19. Failure to enforce zoning laws regarding occupancy
20. closure of hospitals and emergency rooms because of illegal aliens

etc.

No it doesnt. It is a restrictive law that obliterates the use of any other language other than English to be used in government, including voting materials, translators in the DMV or and documented/spoken word in government. Very restrictive and ANTI cutlural and ANTI ethnic.

Here are my responses to your questions, in caps.

Prove how the following are in the best interests of our country:

1. Law breaking of any kind: NO ONE APPROVES OF FELONIOUS CRIMES OF ANY KIND. WHAT IS BEING REQUESTED IS AN UPDATE TO JIM CROWE LIKE DESCRIPTIONS OF SOME CIVIL ISSUES.
2. An ever increasing population: THE WORLDS POPULATION CONTINUES TO GROW.THE OPPOSITE IS THE END TO CIVILIZATION.

3. Bi-lingualism: ENHANCES OUR KNOWLEDGE. MOST COOUNTRIES IN EUROPE SPEAK 4 TO 6 LANGUAGES. TO ASK FOR 2 OR 3 IS HELPFUL TO OUR FUTURE.

4. Weak language requirements for citizenship: TAKE YOUR WEAK USE OF LANGUAGE OR SAT TESTING TO THE OZARKS. ARE YOU ASKING FOR HIGHER STANDARDS FOR NEW IMMIGRANTS.

5. Birthright citizenship: JUS SOLI HAS BEEN IN EFFECT SINCE THE 1800S. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS. MANY COUNTRIES MAINTAIN THIS STANDARD.

6. Foreign labor willing to accept substandard wages because they are illegal: THERE ARE ISSUES WITH ABUSIVE EMPLOYERS PAYING MINIMUM WAGES. ARE YOU MOVING THE PUT THEM IN PRISON?

7. Population-driven economic growth: CERTAIN GROUPS IN OUR COUNTRY HAVE A NON SUSTAINING POPULATION GROWTH RATE. IF WE HAD NO IMMIGRATION AND NO BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP, OUR COUNTRY WOULD DIE OUT AND SUFFER SEVERE ECONOMIC LOSSES.

8. Depletion of natural resources: COMPARED TO CHINA? BAH!

9. Conversion of arable land to condos, highways, streets, new developments: WHERE? NEW YORK CITY? CERTAINLY NOT IN TEXAS. I CAN DRIVE 3 HOURS AND NEVER SEE A HOUSE.

10. Mexico Norte: RACIST RHETORIC. LIKE SAYING MIAMI IS A 3RD WORLD COUNTRYL. MY RESPONSE IS, I WOULD COMPARE MY HOUSE TO YOURS AT ANY TIME!

11. Anchor babies: RACIST TERM FOR CITIZEN BABIES. SHAME ON YOU!!

12. Chain immigration: I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH FAMILY REUNIFICATION. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR CENTURIES. ENGLISH, IRISH, ITALIAN, GERMAN. DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH LATINO? SOUNDS KIND OF RACIST IF YOU DO.

13. La Raza: ARE YOU REFERENCING NCLR, A HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION? OR ARE YOU JUST REFERENCING YOUR DISLIKE FOR LATINOS?

14. Ethnocentrism: OUR HISTORY OF IMMIGRATION INDICATES FAMILY REUNIFICATION OF ENGLISH FOR ENGLISH, IRISH FOR IRISH, GERMAN FOR GERMAN. IS IT ONLY LATINOS YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH?

15. Allowing neighbors to dump their restless impoverished masses in our back yard: ARE YOU REFERENCING INNER CITY POVERTY? THE POOR WHITE? LATINO? BLACK? ASIAN? NATIVE AMERICAN? WHO IS IT YOU ARE REFERENCING? OR IS IT JUST YOUR NEIGHBORS?

16. Promoting a culture epitomized by the trashing of the Arizona landscape: ARE YOU REFERENCING INNER CITY POVERTY? THE POOR WHITE? LATINO? BLACK? ASIAN? NATIVE AMERICAN? WHO IS IT YOU ARE REFERENCING? OR IS IT JUST YOUR NEIGHBORS?

17. Bi-lingual education: I TOOK RUSSIAN AND FRENCH IN HIGH SCHOOL. AND SPANISH IN ELEMENTARY. IT WAS GREAT! DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH EDUCATION?

18. Busing Mexican children to American schools at taxpayer expense. HMMM... WHITE PARENTS IN KC SAID THEY HATED BUSING TO BLACK NEIGHBORHOODS. DO YOU JUST HATE BUSING?

19. Failure to enforce zoning laws regarding occupancy. SOUNDS LIKE A STEREOTYPE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT MYSELF. HAVE YOU? IF SO PROVIDE URL.

20. closure of hospitals and emergency rooms because of illegal aliens. I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS MYSELF. WHAT HOSPITAL ARE YOU REFERENCING? I THINK WE NEED TO STUDY THE ACTUAL ISSUES INSTEAD OF GOSSIP OR INNUENDO. DO YOU HAVE A URL?

etc.

There are many cities in Europe and Latin America, where there are laws or council decisions to promote the speaking of many languages.

Some City Mayors in those countries provide classes for kids, newspapers for kids, to encourage learning languages.

They also provide booklets and guides in many languages. Signs and announcements in the Metros and Subways in many languages.

The Instructions and indications are in many languages on the walls, shops, hotels, tourist sites, universities, and in the streets.

There are contests and events for kids that speak more languages than the native or vernacular.

Only a very idiotic City, Town or Backward Village makes ballots or elections or votes against foreign languages.

It has to be a city of Morons and Cretins to pass laws or legal decisions against speaking many languages.

The Funny thing is that these idiots say that they are the sole owners of "Western Civilization", when in fact they are the worst Barbarians that the world has seen since Hitler.

Hitler tried to change and purify the German Language to forbid Romance Language Influences or Latin Expressions.

Western Civilization comes from Mesopotamia ( Iraq ), from the Persians, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Fenicians, Carthage in the North of Africa, etc .... From India, China and Arabia.

These Idiots suffer from Paranoia and excess of Fear and Pessimism in life. Probably a Very big Inferiority Complex.

I rant and rail a lot in my sites against the Idiot Barbarians that believe to be the sole owners of "Western Civilization"

What a bunch of fools and losers !

Actually, the ever growing population is bringing an end to civilization:
http://www.globalchange.umich.edu/globalchange2/current/lectures/human_pop/human_pop.html

"Common sense tells us that such growth cannot continue - otherwise within a few hundred years every square foot of the Earth's surface would be taken up by a human. Furthermore, experience with other species tells us that, ultimately, resource limitations and/or habitat degradation will force the human population curves to approach an upper limit or asymptote."
