What Is Your Hope for America with Obama as President?

Amazing things are happening in America!
Every day people believe Change is coming and there is Hope for America after all!
Under the previous administration, every day Americans lost hope. They lived in fear of what would happen next.
Now, today, people are coming out of the shadows and saying, "Perhaps there is Hope for a Better Day!"
CNN asked people at the Sundance film festival, "What is Your Hope for America now that Obama is President?"
Click on this link and you will hear their answers.
Now I ask you, my friendly readers.
What is YOUR HOPE for America now that Barack Obama is President?
I believe there is Hope at last for positive change as long as each of us does our part!
God Bless America!!

Obama said, "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."

Obama spoke of a "new era of responsibility" and of "our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age."

Dee said...

"Our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed."

He called for personal accountability, each of us has a responsibility to contribute to a better America.

I have tons of hope that this country is going in the right direction and I know for a fact that we are definately better off without that bushwacking Bush in office.

Although I approach with cation. Similar to anyone who roots for their favorite sports team which is they get their hopes way way up only to come crashing down in the end. But I see Bush like the Detroit Lions, he (like the Lions) went winless and now we've got a whole new administration and hey... they can't do any worse

LMJ,
Wise words!
I agree.
Most of us do have Hope for our new administration.
I know my hope lies in the eyes of my g-babies.
I have lived my life.
Now, we depend on Obama and each of us to create a better tomorrow for all of our g-babies.

We have to believe in the future.
Not for us, but for our children and grandchildren.
Look Forward, not back!

God Bless America!

I hope he will come to his senses and realize that closing Guantanamo is a mistake. If we simply transfer these folks to other military prisons, what will he have accomplished beyond and empty gesture? No one wants these terrorists in their backyard. Guantanamo is the best place for them.
Big mistake!

Some pundits are suggesting that Obama intends to stop the war on terror. I don't see how he can do that under any circumstances, especially given his promises to deal with Ben Laden and terrorism in general. Another empty gesture to his supporters?

Now he wants to spend millions on condoms, grass seed for the mall, and tv converter box coupons. How much economic stimulus will that create? I had hoped we could expect better of him but so far no cigar.

I hope he realizes the debt and the potential for hyperinflation he is burdening us and our g - babies with. I see no signs that he is backing off from his grandiose spending on social programs in spite of our precarious financial position.

I hope he will soon realize that illegal aliens, excessive legal immigration, population-driven economic growth, etc. are not the answer and that anything positive he can do about the environment will be undone by population growth.

ultima said...

"..."our collective failure to make hard choices"

If he were to follow his own advice, he could make short work of the illegal aliens. The easy choice is to sweep the problem under the carpet via a mass legalization. The hard choice is E-verification for all employees and systematic repatriation of those who are illegal aliens. Will he make that hard choice? Not likely, so he will be like some of his predecessors who have taken the easy way out instead of making the hard choices.

I hoped for better but then I knew then and know now it is mostly all high-blown empty rhetoric. I hope he is successful in solving the financial crisis without mortgaging the future of our g - children. I hope he fails in sending America down the path of failed Socialist ideas. Have we learned nothing from the former Soviet Union's experiences?

I hope he wastes no money on anything that does not stimulate our economy whether that is foreign aid or grass seed.

"putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed."

We shall see if he really believes this or if he is just blowing smoke. He could begin by issuing an executive order to DHS to step up its raids and repatriations to send a message to all those who would violate our borders. Is he willing to "pay any price" to move America forward in this recession by assuring that all jobs created by the $825 billion go to citizens who are out of work.

Hell, If he'll make the payments on my Mercedes on time every month, I'll be happy!

My hope is that Obama will be exposed for the usurper with ties to Muslim terroism before it is to late.

It's simple, albeit admittedly selfish of me. There are many more hopes, but mainly I want:

sane, humane CIR
Dream Act passed
DOMA, Don't ask, Don't Tell both repealed,
UAFA Act passed
Marriage Equality

The first decisions of Obama, Closing Guantanamo Gitmo and other decisions :

I think that Obama is following the Advice of Niccolo Machiavelli and other authors that say that the Prince should be Energetic and Act, even if he makes mistakes.

The Prince has to project Decision, Firmness, Decisiveness, Energy, Resolution, Determination, Conclusiveness.

This New Prince of America 2009 is showing Power and Youth !!

I hate War but Obama perhaps shows a Warrior Spirit to defeat those Hate Republicans, or Republicans of Hatred, that attack Obama and have a lot of Racism, hidden and covert in the depths of their Subconscious or in the Darkest Side of their little brains.

So they say that Obama is coward, defeatist and Uncle Tom. See the avice of Niccolo Machiavelli for Obama here :

About Guantanamo, also called GITMO, prison of Torture, Horror and Racial Terrorism against Muslims :

I have been gathering Videos in my site RACIALITY.COM -- In those videos you can watch the following interviews :

General Colin Powell and Other Famous Former Military Americans back the President on the Closing of Guantanamo.

I also have Prominent American Personalities on Videos approving Obama on this topic.

I have Prominent Videos of Artists against Abu Ghraib and other American Tortures inflicted to Muslims.

Videos of American People that talk of the lack of Habeas Corpus and the Return to the Middle Ages.

I also have many liberated prisoners of these Jails of Terror and Sadism, explaining what happened there.

Anon,
I agree with PCorn. Your chastisement of our President was not called for! It is inappropriate.

We should all support our President and our Country. Even in Bush's 1st year, we all supported him and wished him the best, even those that did not vote for him.
We all should give our new President a chance and support him and our country and not wish him ill!

The question is: What Is Your Hope for America with Obama as President?

Nelson said...

Though he ran up the debt more than I thought prudent, I don't think Bush was the worst president ever, nor did I lose hope everyday, so speak for yourself.

As far as my hopes for Obama:
1) Get the debt under control. This was Bush's biggest mistake. Wars are temporary, debt is forever.

2) Don't let Iraq fall into anarchy or civil war.

3) Manage the recession without making things worse (see 1). Realize that the only long term "fix" is for housing and other prices to naturally fall to something affordable. I say this as a homeowner.

4) Fix the illegal immigration problem by legalizing immigration.

5) End the embargo against Cuba.

6) Get better relations with Iran, preferably without letting them become nuclear. They used to be an ally of ours if I recall correctly.

Repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" would be another misguided decision like the closing of Gitmo. He better listen to the military chiefs before he drops this bombshell. Has he even thought about its ramifications or is he just indulging in another empty gesture that will come back to bite him as many exit the military rather than having to live in the barracks with gays prowling around at night.

ultima said...

I hope as he thinks about allowing all of the Bush tax cuts to expire that he has an inspiration to index capital gains as they should be, increase the estate tax exemption above the level that will result if the Bush cuts are just allowed to expire, and that he will get off his high horse about who won the election and listent to Republicans regarding how to get the most bang for the buck in the stimulus package while removing any items that represent spending without stimulus. We should not increase the national debt anymore than is necessary for and directly associated with needed stimulus.

I find it ironic that since Obama signed the order to close Gitmo in one year, that the Iraqis are going to re-open Abu Grhaib, coincidence?

Also, what of the open loopholes he left about Gitmo in his order?

Dee said...

Az,
Interesting prediction.
I think I agree too.

I would like to post a prediction:
Obama will grant Bush himself clemency and/or pardon if the Democrats continue calling for his blood in a cup.....

Just guessing.....

MattAdore,
I agree. That is interesting, more than coincidental news.

Iraq to open Abu Ghraib prison again
Notorious site, closed since 2006, will get new name and face-lift
Associated Press
January 25, 2009
BAGHDAD - Iraq will reopen the notorious Abu Ghraib prison next month, but it's getting a face-lift and a new name, a senior justice official said yesterday.
