Censure Joe Wilson for Racist Behavior and Disrespect Towards our President!

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) showed a grave lack of respect towards OUR PRESIDENT and congressional protocol when he shouted, "You lie!" at President Obama during his speech last night about health care reform. For the first time in history, a member of Congress stood up on the Congressional floor and called our President a LIAR. What disrespect, not only towards our President, but towards the office of Presidency. Never before, in American History, has a represenstative from Congress, stood on the Congressional Floor and disrespected a President in such an outrageous manner. Even in the depths of the Clinton presidency, when Newt Gingrich was speaker of the House, or even through the Clinton impeachment hearings, did any Republican disrespect the office of President, or the President himself in such a manner.

Joe Wilson embarrassed himself and his entire constituency. He racistly and racially assaulted the office of Presidency towards our first minority President. By calling our President a Liar on the Congressional floor, he not only demeaned himself, but revealed himself for the racist he is.

My husband and I listened to the President's speech last night. We were both stunned when we heard Wilson's outrageous remarks and disrespect towards our President. It is beyond words. Such Racism!! The audacity!

I go back to my previous blog. Wilson disrespected the office and the man. Would he have held his tongue to Clinton or to Carter? Of course. It is very disturbing that he lashed out against President Obama.

Wilson should be censured!

Meanwhile, Eric Cantor blackberried during the President's speech. Outside the Capitol's walls, an assassin attempted to sneak into a secure area near the Capitol with a gun in his car as the President gave his health care address to Congress.

What disrespect by the republicans and the far right towards our President and towards our Country.

I ask all true Patriotic Americans to stand behind our President and to show your support. Register to vote and VOTE. Vote Democrat in 2010 and 2012.

Dee :

I am astonished by the Vulgarity and Grossness of this action.

But it helped me to find a jewel and treasure of lexicography, dictionaries, etymologies, etc ..

I asked the dictionary for Heckling and I found this :

to heckle
1. To try to embarrass and annoy (someone speaking or performing in public) by questions, gibes, or objections; badger.

2. To interrupt (a public speaker) with comments, questions, or taunts

3. verb jeer, interrupt, shout down, disrupt, bait, barrack (informal) boo, taunt, pester

to barrack
1. Chiefly British To jeer or shout at a player, speaker, or team.
2. Australian To shout support for a team.
v.tr. Chiefly British
To shout against; jeer at.

The word "Barrack" reminds me of the Military and Militarism.

Then I think of Military Coups, Military Gorillas in power, Military Juntas, Military Despots and Tyrants.

And Militarism is very useful in Demagoguery .... Alcibiades, a Demagogue convinced the Athenians that invading the Island Sicily and dominating the Sicilians was a piece of cake.

He led the Athenian Army to ruin and death ....

Militarism is very closely linked to Demagogy and to Imbecility.

Perhaps Hecklers don't like free speech and their poor brains are only good to interrupt and obstruct the speaker.

Wilson will be admonished by the Democrats if he does not apologize on the floor of the House according to the news. Though lacking in decorum and allowing his anger to get the best of him, Wilson was right in regard to the subject matter. There may in fact be some action by the Dems to add some new language requiring proof of citizenship before anyone can participate in the healthcare reform plan. If so, that will vindicate Wilson's point of view if not his behavior.

Before you get carried away with this racist nonsense you might want to take a look as some more fact checks on the Obama speech.
Those who do so will surely give
some thought beyond the usual robotic response of the Obamabots.

There are many Sons of the Confederacy just as there are many Sons of the Revolution. When Lincoln spoke of "these honored dead" at Gettysburg he was not just speaking of the Union soldiers who died there. He knew many a brave Confederate soldier died there as well and many a mother in both the North and the South would be torn with grief. As we honor our dead so do the descendents of those in the South whose ancestors lay beneath the sod at Gettysburg and elsewhere.

No one can answer this question, just as no one can prove that his outburst was racially motivated. I and many others have been saying the same thing in a more temperate way for some time. Without an explicit requirement to check the bona fides of every applicant there is nothing to prevent every illegal in America from applying for healthcare coverage. Wilson is factually correct but chose an unfortunate way of showing it. I suspect it is a matter of frustration since a Republican amendment to correct this deficiency in the bill was voted down. The Dems did this on purpose just as Obama carefully chose his remarks to try to avoid being tripped up. Wilson was calling him out just as Obama threatened to call out those who promote myths about reform if there really are such things when judged objectively.

I guess anyone who was sitting there, regardless of race or color, who understands that without a check on citizenship the prohibition against illegal aliens participation is utterly meaningless, would have to restrain themselves and bite their tongues to keep from standing up and shouting "BS, Mr. President, BS".

ultima said...

The Facts:"H.R. 3200 does not explicitly pay for health benefits for illegal immigrants. It never has, and no one has ever said that it did. The issue is enforcement and the provisions in H.R. 3200 are completely inadequate to ensure that illegal immigrants do not illegally obtain health care through the bill. In the House Ways and Means mark up of H.R. 3200, Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) introduced an amendment that would use two citizenship status verification systems, the Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) programs, to establish an individual’s eligibility to obtain the bill’s proposed affordability credits or enroll in the public insurance option. Both programs are currently used to determine citizenship status and eligibility for other public assistance programs. The Heller amendment failed on a straight party-line vote."

ultima said...

Let's nail this down with an analogy: Assume our country has no prohibition against illegal entry, no border patrol, no internal enforcement, no ports of entry, etc.

Then the president makes a speech and says, “There are also those who claim that our immigration reform efforts would still allow illegal aliens to enter our country. This is false. The reforms -- the reforms I'm proposing would categorically prohibit illegal entry.”

Now ask yourself honestly of what value would that prohibition be without the border patrol, ports of entry, internal enforcement, detention and repatriation? The obvious answer is, "Zero and none."
In other words that prohibition has the same value has Obama's assurances regarding illegal participation in healthcare reform. It is a lie born of political chicanery and demagoguery. And you have to admit this regardless of where you stand on whether or not illegals should be eligible.

The president talks about reducing ths cost of healthcare but everything he proposes will have the opposite effect with the exception of making insurance mandatory for the young and healthy.

here are the facts:

•Undocumented immigrants cannot receive taxpayer-funded assistance for health insurance under the plans on the table. Section 246 of H.R. 3200 states “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

•The federal government already has verification processes in place to ensure that undocumented immigrants don’t access public benefits programs. This includes the SAVE Program administered by DHS. If health care reform becomes law, the government will continue to use these systems to verify eligibility for the new programs.

•Adding additional verification requirements would be expensive and useless. When Congress added more citizenship proof requirements on top of the current Medicaid procedures, the results were breathtaking. In just six states, federal and state governments used $16.6 million in taxpayer funds to implement the extra procedures, and turned up only eight undocumented immigrants. For every $100 in federal tax dollars used to subsidize these requirements, the government got only 14 cents in actual savings.

•Adding additional verification requirements would cut out eligible Americans. According to a GAO study of the new Medicaid requirements, half of states reported declines in Medicaid enrollment due to the procedures, with a majority of those rejected appearing to be U.S. citizens who could not meet the documentation requirements.

Democratic leaders are planning a House vote early next week to admonish Republican Rep. Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for yelling "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's health care address to Congress.

Dee said...

Racist Wilson also has taken a more combative tone since his apology.

In a video posted on his campaign Web site, he said he let his emotions get away from him during Obama's speech but added, "I will not be muzzled. I will speak up and speak loudly."

The Racial Context for Joe
Wilson's Outburst

http://www.opednews.com/articles/The-Racial-Context-for-Joe-by-The-Project-on-Rac-090910-824.html

Some excerpts :

For at least two years, his political opponents – including Democratic opponents during the primary – have attempted to portray Barack Obama as “not one of us.” He has been, at various times, referred to as communist/socialist/Marxist, elitist, corrupt, a terrorist sympathizer, foreign-born, a thug, fascist and even racist. In short, he is everything that we believe America is not. He is not “one of us.” He is “other.”

It is no surprise, then, that some parents felt it dangerous to let this stranger talk to their children on Tuesday, and it is no surprise that at least one member of Congress believed that it was appropriate to hurl an insult at him during a formal address. Keeping in mind that there is a small but vocal group of Americans and conservative leaders who continue to perpetuate the story that Obama is not a legitimate president because of his birth status, perhaps we should not be surprised that this president, then, does not command even the most minimal level of respect from some of his elected political opponents.

By and large, Whites in America go out of their way to excuse such behavior as being impolite or unfortunate, but not at all related to race. If one believes that the threshold of what is to be considered to be “racist” is that an epithet must be hurled (e.g., if Wilson would have yelled, “You lying nigger!”), it is comfortable to believe that in a “post-racial” nation, such behavior is divorced from the nation's rich history of oppression and White supremacy.
....................

Some of the folks who make racist appeals may be aware that they are doing so, but others very well may not. Irrespective of intent, however, we must be aware that a context of “otherness” has been established around this president that set the stage for him to be treated differently than other presidents this week, first by the parents of schoolchildren and then by a member of Congress.

Yes, most notably the hecklers reside in the politically correct crowd. They believe in free speech only if it accords with their own warped point of view. We see a few of them on this site.

Dee wrote, "Wilson is a LIAR and a RACIST!!"

Where is your evidence? By drawing this unwarranted conclusion, you are as bad as you think he is. Wilson was absolutely right regarding the issue at hand. Even the Dems are forced to agree on that point. Any reasonable person would have to agree with the defeated Republican amendment cited above unless he or she as another agenda of the type Wilson accused Obama of. It's indeed unfortunate when a sitting U.S. president in a nationwide broadcast was still trying to mislead the public about the illegal alien provision of the bill. He was being completely disingenuous and should have been called out for his perfidy.

ultima said...

Dee quoted Wilson as saying, "I will not be muzzled. I will speak up and speak loudly."

And indeed he should. He is saying, "I will not go meekly to the slaughter."

He is exercising his freedom of speech and obligation as a Congressman to speak his mind and fairly represent the sentiments of his constituents. Kudos to Wilson for standing up against perfidy and PC in the highest places say nothing about the Dem's subrosa plan to insure illegals as evidenced by the lack of a required check on the citizenship of healthcare applicants.

ultima said...

"Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

Every reasonable person has to admit that the above provision and a couple of bucks will get you a small latte. There is no check on citizenship status required.

ultima said...

"If health care reform becomes law, the government will continue to use these systems to verify eligibility for the new programs."

Who says? There is nothing in HR3200 that requires it. If it isn't explicitly required by the reform bill, it won't happen. It will be just like the schools and hospitals that accept illegals without checking their citizenship status.

If what you say is true, why did the Dems turn down the GOP amendment to assure that citizenship would be checked? This would have obviated Wilson's outburst. The denial of that amendment proves you are wrong on all counts.

ultima said...

Essie Mae Washington-Williams, as a matter of fact did indulge in a smear -- speaking ill of the dead.

ultima said...

How does one appear to be a citizen if he or she cannot produce the documentation necessary to prove it?

"Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) introduced an amendment that would use two citizenship status verification systems, the Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) programs,.."

If these systems already exists and are used for other related purposes, why not use them for healthcare and avoid all of this controversy and name-calling?

We all know where your sentiments lie and you like the drafters of HR3200 really want to have a system that allows illegal alien participation. You know it and I know it. We all know it.

ultima said...

What are the documentation requirements that some people cannot meet? The simple solution would be to charge a midlevel manager or higher with the responsility of ruling on the eligibility of those who cannot produce the required documentation. This is not rocket science!

This is the same old red herring like the one used to delay the implementation of E-verify. No system can be perfect but that is no excuse for temporizing instead of getting on with it.

If the Dem and Obama really wanted a bi-partisan bill they would have quickly accepted the GOP amendment and be done with this issue.

Oh, and Whining Willy has graciously decided he will drop his opposition to health care reform if he is given a guarantee that there will be no immigration reform/amnesty. As if the world cares what this f$%ktard thinks.

Yes. Wilson is a Racist. Look at the body language of the good ole boys in the area where ole Joe screamed/lashed out against our President. They were sitting there, displaying their disrespect, for all to see. I'm going to do a post on their body language in a little while.

ultima said...

Dee wrote, "The bill specifically says non citizens are excluded."

Yes, everyone understand that but you must have missed my analogy and other posts above which clearly demonstrate why that exclusion is inadequate. It was the Hispanic Caucus and La Raza that prevailed on Congress to use that ineffectual language and vote down the citizenship verification amendments put forth. That tells it all. Some folks just cannot accept reality. There is no point in denying this. The NYT, the Congress, and the Administration have all essentially admitted that without a citizenship check, illegals would be free to participate and that is exactly what you, the HIspanic Caucus, and La Raza want. Hell, why not just admit it?

The NYT points out that the illegal can still get emergency care and it is right however, there should be a provision in the law that as soon as the medical crisis is over,if there is one, the patient must prove his or her citizenship, or even sooner if a relative can produce the required documents. The NYT in typical neo-lib fashion worries about the small cost of identifying illegal aliens who commited fraud against medicaid but fails to recognize the Texas and CA alone spent $2.7 billion on Medicaid for illegals and even a small savings in that area would easily cover a very substantial enforcement effort in all areas of social and healthcare services for illegals and even pay for their expeditious repatriation as soon as their conditions are stabilized. Failure to enforce for any reason is a cop out.

ultima said...

pcorn wrote, "Wilson's opponent is amassing a warchest estimated to be over $1 million at the moment to defeat this idiot in 2010."

You forgot to mention that Wilson raised an equal amount in the same period.

Dee wrote, "Look at the body language of the good ole boys in the area where ole Joe screamed/lashed out against our President."

Look at the body language whenever a President of the opposite party speaks to the Congress. This is standard behavior on both sides of the aisle. It is only the uninformed or the extremists who misinterpret this body language. It merely reflects a philosophical disagreement or distaste for what is being said or proposed. Nothing more should be read into it. There seem to be a lot of liars around recently.

Ultima,
You are wrong. There is No support for Illegal Immigrants in the bill. Nothing! Nada! Nothing.

I personally think that is a shame. I suppose you think the status quo should continue, employers should exploit them and they should be further exploited by not being able to purchase healthcare, AND if they have their leg cut off, the Emergency room is NOT allowed to sew their leg back on. Sheessh!! I wonder if you guys go to church and believe in God at all. I know you all give it lip service, but do you remember the part that says: Do unto others as you would have them do unto Me? I did enjoy him cut and running through his apology, which only goes to show that he stands for nothing. He is just another good old boy where in the morning these married men preach to you that there should be prayer in our schools and in the evening they are on their cell phones setting up a date with their other women on the side, hypocrisy has been bred in. I am not surprised that he felt compel to yell like he was at some Friday night game. So long Joey, you too will be seeing the unemployment lines.

Then he should be voted out of congress along with the other dinosaur repugnicans who represent the type of lockstepping knuckledraggers who showed up at that crackerfest in Washington DC. And all those who idiots accuse Obama of being a Socialist-Nazi-Fascist, (whatever the heck THAT is!), if they have such disdain for socialism, they should be forbidden to use highways, libraries, public schools, the fire department, bridges, or to accept social security of medicaid/medicare. The FIXED NOISE channel is a joke, and everybody knows it.

Some call Joe Wilson a great statesman, and are even proud of his “Shout Out”, so lets see, he says, he was told by the Republican leadership to apologize (he did not realize the magnitude of his mistake), he then gives his weak “not for reals” apology, but then goes on to those “Commentator Talk Shows” and basically says he real was not wrong and plays the victim card and calls for people to send in for money to support him for re-election. Had he kept quiet after his apology, that might have been the end of it but now that people know he lied about the apology the story will continue, until he is out of a job and the funny thing is, he does not see it coming. This summer has been rough for his beleaguered political party. At least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC). In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away the rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if they real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”. The birthers, the tea baggers, the screamers, and the deathers continued extreme minority presence will become tiresome to mainstream America, if it has not already done so.
