RNC’s Spanish Translation Of Hispanic Heritage Month Press Release Riddled With Errors

ThinkProgress.org Reports:
Today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) released a statement from Chairman Michael Steele announcing the release of a new video in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. However, though the press release emphasizes the Republican Party’s “commitment to the Hispanic community,” apparently that commitment does not include hiring a qualified Spanish translator. The Spanish translation of Steele’s statement is riddled with embarrassing typos and errors. Even Yahoo’s automatic online translator, Babel Fish, produces better results. A quick revision highlights the multitude of glaring errors.

The substance of the accompanying video isn’t much better. Its main focus is on highlighting the accomplishments of conservative Latinos and completely ignores renowned Latino leaders like civil rights activists César Chávez and Dolores Huerta, and completely sidesteps the recent confirmation of Puerto Rican Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
The video doesn’t even acknowledge one of the Republican Party’s most respected leaders, former Sen. Mel Martinez (R-FL) who resigned from his post as RNC chairman in 2007 in response to his party’s anti-immigrant views. Before abruptly leaving Congress this past August, Martinez admitted that his party’s “divisive rhetoric” during the 2007 immigration debate had tarnished the GOP brand amongst Latinos, stating “the Republican Party had better figure out how to talk to them [Latinos].” Ironically, while Steele indicated that the GOP would not be changing its position on immigration, he did say that the Party had to work on its messaging, which is often perceived as “insensitive.”

America's housing market collapsed because of the Lack of Babies with two parents at home. America is the leper that still has some fingers - Depression Economics

How Demography produces Depression. Americans won't go to Disneyland !! ( Because of lack of children and money )

Super Catholic Magazine "First Things" ... And a Super Conservative Intelligent Reaganite Economist. They weep a lot because of the Bad Economy and rant a lot against Liberals, Democratic Party and Mr Obama.

After lots of weeping for the bad use of Economics, Economist David P. Goldman still has faith in Conservatism and Reagonomics. However he doesn't hate Immigrants or Third Worlders and find them useful to cure many economic ailments of the "First World".

America is the leper that still has some fingers !!

The problem with Martinez's statement is that it epitomizes the idea of La Raza first, America second. We don't need anymore people in the U.S., a message that Hispanics are unable to understand.

I noticed last night on the Ken Burn's series about National Parks that San Fran was able to prevail over those who would preserve for posterity beautiful places like the Hetch Hetchy valley in Yosemite. The more people, the greater the demand for water and for living space bring immense pressure on Naional Parks, Monuments, and Forests to everyone's detriment. When will all Americans, especially Hispanics and other immigrants, wake up to the realization that the more who come here, the less the reasons there will be for being here. Shame on those who are unable to see this elementary fact -- people like Martinez who was in a position to make this point to his brethren but resigned instead -- nothing more than a quitter!

The other side of the wall around the country and vigorous internal enforcement coin is open borders. How many of us must there be before even the densest among us is able to comprehend their complicity in the destruction of the America we know and love.
When will every free stream in America be dammed up to serve hundreds of millions of more people? How long before our standard of living and quality of life reaches equilibrium with that of the third world? Those who favor amnesty and open borders today won't be here to witness this tragedy but it will be visited upon their children and their childrens' children and there will be no one who remembers the grandeur of America before the anti-America forces took over.

Maybe there aren't very many well-qualified Spanish interpreters because of the large number of high school dropouts and the vernacular used in the street.

Where is Lupita when we need her?

Surely you jest when you speak of Babel Fish. Those translations leave much to be desired. It was just another opportunity for you to abuse every Republican in sight. Steele has shown little ability to do the right thing for the GOP. He needs help if he can't get a qualifed translator.

"A quick revision highlights the multitude of glaring errors."

Where is this revision? Does it show the errors so one can judge for himself how critical they were to the understanding of the basic message? Who was the translator and what were his or her qualification? College?

If we had 20 million Chinese illegally invading America, I wonder if Dee would be singing the tune she does. I would bet my last dollar she wouldn't.

The Housing Bubble and Disneyworld without children, only centenarians in wheelchairs :

The world has seen lots of these bubbles and they return periodically, with millions of people becoming crazy because they believe that they are rich or on the path to Great Riches.

Tulip Mania was a period in the Dutch Golden Age during which contract prices for bulbs of the recently introduced tulip reached extraordinarily high levels and then suddenly collapsed causing the ruin of thousands of Dutch speculators.

At the peak of tulip mania in February 1637, tulip contracts sold for more than 10 times the annual income of a skilled craftsman. It is generally considered the first recorded speculative bubble (or economic bubble). The term "tulip mania" is now often used metaphorically to refer to any large economic bubble (when asset prices deviate from intrinsic values).

I acknowledge that what I publish about Economics and the Economies of the World is exaggerated, even extremist and fanatic. Perhaps it is a big desire for illustration, then I paint things uglier than they are.

But I can't stop thinking in Mathusalem Economics, when a nation like Japan becomes very old with few children .... Japan is the classsic example of a nation that doesn't reproduce ( they are much below zero in population growth ) and doesn't accept immigrants because they fear Immigration for their Culture. Population in Japan is contracting at an ugly pace.

Welcome to Disneyworld for Centenarians and Nonagenarias in Wheelchairs.

El Duque seems to be suggesting that population-driven economic growth is the answer. Perhaps he should consider the long term effect of such a policy and ask himself what are the limits of such growth and what are its other consequences for the environment, standard of living, and quality of life. Ignorance is bliss.
