Mexican American and Frustrated by Lack of Movement on Immigration Reform

Here we are during the Holiday Season.
We are in the 5th year of our President's tenure.
We have no movement on Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

I know the issues. I know the Problems.
Republicans have one agenda.
Democrats, a different agenda.

Republicans, especially the extremists, want to close the borders and deport everyone who does not have citizenship.
Democrats want Immigration Reform, but lack the strength to take a stand to pass it.

I have to give it to Republicans and all people who thrive in HATE for their strength and determination. They are willing to be demonized, ridiculed, hated, attacked, voted out of office, and they still stand their ground. They don't care about polls. They don't care that main street America disagrees with them and ridicules them. They stand their ground and still fight.

Democrats, on the other hand, always try to be politically correct. They thrive on polls and popularity. They continue to apologize for their views if they get a bad poll. Apologize and beg for forgiveness. Where are their guts?

Here I sit. Frustrated. Knowing Mexican Americans and Latinos are on the RIGHT SIDE of History. Immigration Reform is the right thing to do. (Like Healthcare, Civil Rights and so many other humanitarily correct philosophies).

What is the resolution? Do we have to wait until the 2014 elections?
I honestly don't know.
So here I sit.
Frustrated.
Not willing to post on my Blog every day anymore.
I still believe in Truth, Justice, America - the Land of Immigrants and Immigration Reform.
But I am NOT willing to be a pawn of those pushing forward a political agenda.

I DEMAND Comprehensive Immigration Reform for the Sake of Humanity and because it is the Right Thing to Do for OUR America!!

Being a Mexican American is Exhausting

"Our family has been here for centuries and yet they treat us as if we just swam across the Rio Grande. We have to know about John Wayne and Pedro Infante. We have to know about Frank Sinatra and Augustine Lara. We have to know about Oprah and Christina.
Anglo Food is too bland and yet when we go to Mexico we get the runs. Now that to me is embarrassing.
Japanese Americans, Italian Americans, German Americans, their homeland is on the other side of the ocean. Ours is right next door. And we have to prove to the Mexicans how Mexican we are and we have to prove to the Americans how American we are. We have to be more Mexican than the Mexicans and more American than the Americans. Both at the same time. Its exhausting. Nobody knows how tough it is to be Mexican American."

Mexican American Tony Romo's Grandparents Talk About Tony and Coming to America!

Mexican American Quarterback Tony Romo was Married this Weekend! Congratulations Tony and Candace!

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who is Mexican American, married Candice Crawford on Saturday evening at Arlington Hall in Dallas. A wedding guest said, "It was perfect! From the ceremony in beautiful white, to a vibrant after-party and great music selected by Tony himself."

Tony Romo, star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and perhaps one of the most naturally talented and successful quarterbacks in American history, provides us a picture of a true "Immigrant - American Dream" story. His beginnings are like so many other Mexican American families across the U.S. His is a story of the beautiful, multi cultural success that is happening all across America -- but is not accepted by the extremist right wing -- those who demonize immigrants from the Latin American countries to our south.

Tony's grandfather, Ramiro Romo Sr., emigrated from Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. Like so many Immigrants, his first stop was San Antonio, Texas. Abuelito Romo loves America and often said, "This is a country of opportunities. If you don't get a job or an education, it's because you don't want to." Ramiro Sr. later moved his family to Wisconsin, where he was able to find a good job and support his family.

Tony's parents Ramiro and Joan Romo welcomed Antonio Ramiro Romo into the family in San Diego, California on April 21, 1980. At the time, Tony's Dad, Ramiro, like so many Mexican Americans, believes in the military and was serving in the United States Navy. Tony's Dad moved his family from Wisconsin to California four years earlier. “Tony” was Ramiro and Joan’s third child and their only son behind two girls: Danielle, 4 and Jossalyn 2. The Romo family moved to Burlington, Wisconsin in July of 1982. There they raised their three children from elementary school through high school graduation.

Tony's story is truly an American success story and the fulfillment of the American Dream for a family of Immigrants from Mexico.

Must See Movie: Born in East L.A.

Have you ever seen the movie "Born in East L.A.?" It is one of the funniest movies ever made. The movie was made in 1987. It stars Cheech Marin. It's about a Mexican American man who is racially profiled, caught up in an Immigration Raid, and deported to Mexico. This movie is as relevant today as it was when it was made.
My family has seen it hundreds of times, yet it never gets old. For all my viewers: Rent It! Buy It! Just See It!!

Serve on Active Duty! Become a Citizen!

Since 2002, more than 37,000 aliens and non citizens who served on active duty have been provided expedited naturalization.

As I have previously reported, in Iraq, according to the Washington Post, Hispanics have a death risk about 20 percent higher than non-Hispanics.
According to the Pew Hispanic Center, while Latinos make up 9.5 percent of the actively enlisted forces, they are over-represented in the categories that get the most dangerous assignments -- infantry, gun crews and seamanship -- and make up over 17.5 percent of the front lines.

As The Sun - San Bernardino reported on 8-23-08:

The Marines came from all over - Kazakhstan, Jamaica, Guatemala, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, El Salvador, Indonesia, the Philippines - but Monday evening threaded them together with one common theme. Their home is now officially the United States, a country they've defended overseas since the war on terror began. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials have naturalized more than 37,250 military members since Sept. 11, 2003, but this was the first ceremony held on a military base. President Bush signed the Expedited Naturalization Executive Order in July 2002, enabling non-citizens on active duty to immediately file for citizenship. Military personnel would normally have to serve a year before qualifying for citizenship.

Latinos on the Front Lines: WW2 Marine War Hero May be Awarded Additional Honors

A Latino War Hero, Silver Star-Navy Cross winner, may finally be receiving the well earned Medal of Honor.

Hispanic private coaxed 1,000 Japanese to surrender on Saipan
As an 18-year-old Marine private, Guy Gabaldon single-handedly persuaded more than 1,000 Japanese soldiers to surrender in the World War II battle for Saipan.
MIAMI - Armed but alone, Marine Pfc. Guy Gabaldon roamed Saipan's caves and pillboxes, persuading enemy soldiers and civilians to surrender during the hellish World War II battle on the island. Using the Japanese language skills he learned as a boy, he warned the Japanese they would die if they stayed hidden and told them Marines were not torturers as they had heard. The Marines, he said, would feed them and give them medical care. Many agreed, and Gabaldon, just 18, led them back to U.S. lines. By the battle's end, Gabaldon had coaxed more than 1,000 Japanese out of the steamy caves. He was praised as being brave and compassionate, and he received a Silver Star — later upgraded to a Navy Cross.

Now, almost two years after his death, there is a renewed campaign to give Gabaldon the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. A new documentary, "East L.A. Marine," asks whether Gabaldon's Hispanic heritage prevented him from receiving the medal, though others blame his tough and outspoken nature.

"It's a much bigger issue than any of us realize," said Steve Rubin, who directed the documentary, which will be available online May 6. "Guy is a symbol not only of a hero in war, but a man who treated people humanely. He killed people, sure, but having grown up essentially as a Japanese, he treated them as human beings."

Hand-Off to Next Generation

I had several good and interesting conversations with many of my nieces and nephews this week. As with most people, each of my relatives have varying opinions about issues.

My nephew "L" is a career military man in his early forties. He is a recruiting sargeant. He is about 5´11", very fit, with a booming, newsman voice. He looks a little like my Dad as a young man. (click on book link and scroll to bottom of page). L has had two tours in Iraq and may be going back again later this year.

My niece "R" is former military. She proudly calls herself a "housewife", married to her husband for 20 years. She is also in her early forties. Her oldest son is currently in Iraq.

A number of us were in my nephews hotel room, quietly visiting and reminiscing. Then the conversation turned to politics and Iraq. The exchange was quite strong between L and R.

L is Republican. He believes the Republicans pay for and support the military and it is important that Republicans stay in office. Right or wrong, we are in Iraq and no one should ever vocalize arguments against our being there because this only helps the enemy cause.

R is Democrat. She strongly believes we should not be in Iraq although she supported the deployment to Afghanistan to hunt down Bin Laden after 9-11.

To listen to the two of them argue back and forth, my heart filled with pride, knowing that our next generation is well informed and ready to take over for all of us.

It was interesting to find out (though I could have guessed) that L was for McCain and R for Hillary. This leads me to believe they will be the two candidates in November.

As the Immigration Debates Rage On, the ANTIs Continue to Raise the Ugly RACE Card!!

Mike Hamilton, the ANTI proprietor of the famous Hamilton Farms billboard along Interstate 5 posted these words:

“NO MEXICAN OLYMPIC TEAMS? ALL THE RUNNERS AND SWIMMERS ARE HERE!”

His billboard message does not have all of Lewis County laughing!

Over the years, the outrageous and outspoken owner has used his billboard to air his discontent about everything from politics to homosexuality, now, he is focusing on Race.

Winlock City Council member Eliaci Sanchez who is an American of Mexican descent said he sees the recent missive as a statement on racial discrimination.

“It’s just focusing on those of Mexican descent in our community. This isn´t about illegal immigration as some would have us believe. It is about Mexican Americans in our community. By indicting the Hispanic community this billboard is racial profiling,” Sanchez said.

Hamilton has definitely stirred things up. While residents in the area are well used to the political and pointed messages on the billboard - this time people are speaking up. The message seems to be especially painful for the growing Hispanic community in Lewis County. According to the U.S. Census, the population of Hispanic Citizens has doubled from 3,500 to 7,000 living in the area. Many are not laughing at the message.

"It is very hurtful - I am Hispanic and I'm proud of it and that billboard is really wrong," said Adelina Petersen, resident.

Mike Hamilton, Camas resident and son of the sign’s original keeper Alfred Hamilton, said he should not be criticized for having the gall to take a defined stand on an issue that seems to have no easy solution.

“It DOES target Mexicans because that’s where the humor about immigration is in terms of Lewis County,” Hamilton said. “Am I then racist because I’m willing to speak out against an intense problem we’re having?”

The answer, Mr. Hamilton, is a resounding YES!

Heinous Minutemen Leaders´ True Agenda

CNN reports former Minutemen Leaders are accusing Chris Simcox, Minuteman National Board Chairman, of fraud and grand theft. They charge Simcox has not accounted for millions of dollars of donations collected from Minutemen members for the High Tech Border fence he promised to build with donations. Simcox´ mental stability has also come under question and according to the Tucson Weekly he has a troubled past.

On her Nov. 11, 2007 blog, Christie Czajkowski, former girlfriend of San Diego Minuteman Chief Jeff Schwilk, supported the allegations about Simcox and extends them to Schwilk and Minuteman Leader Jim Gilchrist. She charges they "are professional money launderers, some have even already done time...I believe many more will when the truth comes out about the Gilchrist scandal."

Czajkowski said, "I was disgusted ..at the lack of interest the leadership had showed in the many volunteers that had travelled so many miles."

Czajkowski continues with more serious allegations, "what I have come to see in many of these groups is that they have simply found a way to profit off the problem, not solve the problem. Many groups continue to encourage violence while screaming at people on the streets that can't change the laws, or even shooting at people and dogs on more than one occasion, even chasing people in Mexico and shooting them!" (Note: These three provide the Access (not axis) to all that is Evil!)

She is talking about MURDER!! We have all heard about the numerous dead (murdered) migrants on the border.

Christie continues: "Gee, I wonder if there was a reason these leaders wanted their sheeple to stay away from me...? Yes, there was a reason, but not the ones they made up. Moral of the story...be nice to your vidoegrapher!"

Obviously Christie has videotapes. That is why Schwilk and others are demonizing her now!

As you read and understand all the allegations former Minutemen Leaders are making about Simcox, Gilchrist and Schwilk, keep in mind, there are several open allegations regarding their involvement in the California Fires. I wrote about them here and here. It is particularly important to study the Fire Map. How closely are the Minutemen leaders connected to John Alfred Rund? Remember, the fires happened during the Minutemen´s month long Operation Secure America rallies. Christie says she has implicating videos. Beyond the murders of the border crossers, does she also have video of Rund?

I ask all readers to read and study this information and Christie´s allegations. If you have any additional information, come forward with any documentation you may have regarding:

1. the "Gilchrist Scandal"

2. any videos showing illegal activity by these Minutemen Leaders or any minutemen.

3. any documentation or proof you may have regarding the Minutemen involvement in Border Murders.

4. any documentation or proof to John Alfred Rund and/or the California fires.

At the time, the founder and president of MCDC, Chris Simcox, refused Al-Jazeera request to interview and film the Minuteman patrols on the border. “I’ll have no part in aiding and abetting the enemy, and will continue to work to protect our country from terrorists who are clearly looking at our unsecured borders as the pathway to destroy America,” he said in a June 2005 interview. “Would we allow Japanese or German television to film the unsecured border during World War II?” Minuteman spokeswoman Connie Hair added. “These people broadcast to the enemies of America. It’s not a news story, it’s recon.” But Al-Jazeera did not abandon the project, and finally negotiated an agreement with Simcox.

Millions of Hispanic Soldiers´ Proud Tradition of Service in the US Military

American Hispanics have a proud history of serving in the US Military. Over 500,000 Hispanic soldiers served in World War II, and nearly 40 Latinos have won our nation’s highest award, the Congressional Medal of Honor. More than 53,000 Hispanics were on active duty in 2003 and another 1.1 million are veterans of the U.S. military. Many have also been honored with American citizenship as a result of their military service; more than 25,000 immigrants who have served in the military have become U.S. citizens through a special wartime military naturalization statute.

What do these men have in common?

They are all Ugly Americans. Evil, Evil, Ugly Americans!!

Terms they use: Mexifornia for California! Third World for Miami or other Hispanic American Neighborhoods! Promote Racial Profiling for all Hispanic Americans!! They attack Hillary! They Attack Comprehensive Immigration Reform!!

Ask them this question. How would they answer.

"Are you advocating Mass Deportation of the 12M? If not, then you are just like the current Administration. They continue to partner with Business to bring in and employ these workers. You are content to live in a Political Hypocrisy, let the 12M live in the shadows, drive on our roads, invisible and without identity. That is the true double speak that continues to thrive in our current administration and which you apparently are supporting. Our economy cannot withstand the Mass Deportation of 12M people. I ask anyone, anyone in Congress or any legitimate economist to prove otherwise. If you do not advocate Mass Deportation, then you need to say so, forthrightly. It is time we bring the 12M out of the shadows. We need Comprehensive Immigration Reform."
