sb1070 Immigration Debate Stirring Up Racists Who Hacked Sign: No Tacos! No Latinos!

Latinos in South Florida are Legal Citizens, primarily Cuban Americans. Miami is a majority/minority city. This sign illustrates that the Immigration issue is not about legal status. IT'S ABOUT RACISM AGAINST LATINOS!

I like tacos and Hispanic women!

Well, that's one biased way of looking at it. The real message behind this racist sign is: This is America. We speak English. All are welcome who are willing to integrate socially, and assimilate culturally and linguistically. We are not too happy that you have refused to do so. When will you ask that Miami change its name to Havana Norte?

You'll notice that the young woman basically said Latinos made Miami, i.e. it didn't exist prior to the 1960s. She says the city is controlled by Hispanics and most businesses are Hispanic owned. Doesn't anyone see anything wrong with that? So what do they teach in Miami schools -- that Miami is not part of the United States or part of Latin American? Haven't the people learned English after all of these years since 1960? Does this situation in Miami tend to undermine our national unity? Is Miami a foreign country?..Welcome to Mexico Norte!

Oh Ultima,
Where do I start with you.
Your side is so very silly.
Here is where you are wrong:

1. Cuba is NOT Mexico
2. Assimilation DOES NOT MEAN becoming Northern Europeans. Assimilation = becoming a part of the majority demographic which is a constant moving target. Do you look like a Pilgrim? Do you wear a davey crockett hat? Do you wear a zoot suit? Do you wear a slicked up Elvis style pompadour? We are evolving!!!
3. It is FANTASTIC to be bi-lingual. Of course English is our National Language, but it is good to speak more languages. In Europe they often speak 4 or 5.

PS: If you truly want to deport the 12M, you are including their food and women too!

I disagree. The city by the words of this reporter considers itself part of Latin American, in other words a foreign country.
Doesn't sound as though its people have assimilated, does it? I guess you didn't listen carefully to the video or note the comment in the lower left hand corner.

What's the difference between Havana Norte and "being a part of Latin America?" Not much!

Yes, I know Cuba is not Mexico but it has a similar culture because of the Spanish influence. I suspect that some Cubans have more negoid blood while Mexican have more Indian blood. It would be interesting to know how many actually have pure Spanish blood if there is such a thing. After all Spain was occupied by the Moors for a long time. There must have been some intermarriages.

We use the term Hispanics to include Cubans, Mexicans, and all those from Central and South America and even Spain. When we say "Mexico Norte" we include all of those groups in a country that looks like Miami and speaks primarily Spanish. It doesn't mean all are Mexican or Cuban or whatever. Miami is just a harbinger of what we can expect in Mexico Norte when the Hispanics take over and become the majority minority. Think of it as a generic term for what America would look like if Miamism continues to expand. I don't believe any rational person would consider that to be assimilation.

Assimilate = to make alike or similar; cause to resemble: to assimilate Miami to the U.S. as opposed to causing the U.S. to assimilate or resemble Miami or causing the U.S. to resemble Mexico as in Mexico Norte.

How does one become a part of the majority demographic? I don't think yoiu are doing that if you continue to express yourself in a different culture and language, conduct business in a different language, claim to be part of a different world (Latin America), appear like a foreign country. If it walks like a duck, paddles like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then
its probably an unassimilated duck rather than a goose or a swan.

It is not necessarily good to speak many languages. A linguist, translator, tourist, or businessman may find use for foreign languages but most people fit into none of those categories and their time could be better spent learning a trade or skill that would help them make a living. Then in the worst of all worlds they are forced to learn a second language just to be able to earn a living. For the vast majority of citizens foreign langauges are of little utility unless their country is divided by language. Then they will be forced to learn another language and forego some other courses that might otherwise have been of greater utility.

I have never been an advocate of the removal of all 12 million illegals. I want to keep all those Hispanic beauties and the taco makers.
